I spoke to a friend that was at the Toys R Us in Cross Iron Mills and he said they had 4 sets in stock, and all were the variant. I went to the Sunridge TRU and found 4 variant sets. I bought one for a friend's birthday present with no intention of getting myself one. After staring at Nightcrawler and Colossus I went back the next day and bought one. There's one left. They're $44.99.

The only other time I've been pleasantly surprised like this was when I found all 4 of the target 2-Packs available at Zellers in town for $12.99. That's a great deal considering I would have had to pay EBay or BBTS prices to get them otherwise.

Has anyone bought the pack off of the TRU website? I noticed in the pic it's the variant, but I didn't want to order it and the regular version shows up. Those I have found, I'd like the "Phasing Nightcrawler" and Storm.

I'm thinking the same thing. And sellers can't even give away the original sets online right now. Too risky IMO.

If I got the original version, I guess I would just keep it on card. But the only figure I need is Storm. I want the Nightcrawler, the Shiny Colossus isn't bad, but I'll pass on the other 3.

Nightcrawler is in "phasing mode" leg/arm. Storm has a white outline on her outfit, and Colossus is just shinny.

Hey look at it this way...you actually saw it in a store, and they could restock that variant if it was the last one.

Hopefully, I passed on it because I already had 3 of the 6 characters. Now I know its the variant, I'll have to purchase it :P

I bought a non-variant set yesterday at TRU (South California). The toys are nice but the packaging is a little weak. The box is light and flimsy... I wonder why they couldn't have thrown in a copy of the comic book as reference like the Gigantic Battles. Comparing the weight of the Snow Giant ($25) to the Giant Size X-men ($35).... the Snow Giant is like 2-3x as heavy and feels much more substantial. I have a feeling that the Giant Size X-men will be on clearance in a year.

It's possible, I see them around here pretty often but haven't run into any variants yet. They are 34.99 over here.
And those Target 2 packs are very easy to find around here.

I saw one set yesterday at the TRU in Dublin, CA.

I saw a couple of sets at TRU in Pleasant Hill, CA. I bought my set last week at the same spot.

I checked Valley Stream TRU and Massapequa TRU for variants and there were no variants out of about 10 sets between each store.

I keep forgetting about Disney store. I saw a variant on Ebay and Amazon. Both were going for 69 bucks. That's just ridiculous.

I found the variants at the disney store as well, but they wanted $50.00 a piece for them, so I had to pass. However I picked up some Marvel select figures they had

I actually like the XMO Wolverine over MU. Why? Simple, it's all to do with scale, I am a sucker for scale and it is my downfall when collecting figures. I have Daken and to me, the MU Wolverine mold has turned into the Daken mold [hint hint to hasbro to bring out the new daken :P]

You xmo haters really need to explain yourselves to me those are some of the bestwolverine sculpts you will find. I also agree that its all about scale, the MU wolverines are way too tall/skinny and the claws/necks suck! Its almost like they tried to make him appear shorter by elongating his neck and curving it down, so strange.

Xmo has given us an awesome tiger stripe from the tru giant size box! It is my favourite wolverine that ive owned. The xmo wolverine from the SS 2 pack is also quite awesome, best claws around and perfect stocky runt scale for james.

Totally agree.
My classic X-Men team has the XMO Brown suited Wolvie and mohawk Storm, Nightcrawler and Colussus- led by Cyclops with the skullcap.

Of course, my "classic" X-Men team is circa X-Men 190-212 or so.

Was just informed for 4 variant xmen sets down the island. I have been reading that a lot of people are having trouble finding the variant, and that is all I seem to be able to find. The catch is, they are 45.99 CAD, which HURTS.
