I am going to start a small collection of Marvel figures The Avengers. I want the standard 6 inch line but want them to look kick ass and up to par with teh movie style to a degree. I want eh Hulk to be in scale with the other Avengers so I am guessing 8 to 9 inches tall? Iron Man I would like to look detailed with a nice looking Armor. Cap. America with a modern Suit and good looking shield. Any help with what line to collect will be appreciated as I know next to nothing on Marvel Toys. I am a DC Collector and wanted a Avengers VS JLA Collection.

Best bet is Legends. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor are MUSTS. I would also go with Vision, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel and Hulk. That is just me though, there are SO many Avengers as well as JLA, as you know.

ROTFLMFAO!

That's the exact story I told myself when I started collecting Marvel Universe!
Now, I not only collect nearly all the characters, I freakin make my own customs!

Then you need:

Giant Man Series Thor [better than series 3 imo]
Mojo Series Iron Man Variant
Galactus Series Green Hulk

Now, this is where it gets tricky.

If you want you could buy the Marvel Universe Avengers 3 pack that comes with a little Ant-Man and Wasp. Personally that would look so fucking awesome because the scale would be perfect. Or, you could buy a BAF Giant-Man.

That was the roster in issue #1.

it depends. you'd prolly have to track down older Toy Biz Marvel Legends, start fresh with the Hasbro Marvel Legends reboot happening currently, or go with the Marvel Select line. or do a mixture of em all based on which figures you can track down and get and what version of the characters you like.

or you can do a mix of the upcoming 6" scale avengers movie figures coming to maaaaybe walmart(?) in the summer and the marvel select movie hulk out at some point too.

I think I will wait till the Movie Avengers line hits retail. I really like the Captain America Suit.

Ok even though im strictly 3.75" MU collector I have seen 6" figs while Im hunting. If you have a Disney store around you check it out for they have Marvel Select figs and I have seen the Hulk and Black Widow there recently and they look awesome , but the thing with them Marvel Select figs are the same with DC Direct figs lack of articulation but superb Mold/sculpt. So thats something you might want to consider.

I have to say, for my preference, Marvel Legends Face Off Hulk is the best in sculpt and size for the 6" realm, but the Select Hulk is good too.

Lol. Yeah right...a small collection.

I just wanted to do the upcoming Avengers Assemble roster. Now I want 6" uncanny X-Force and perhaps 6" Annihilator if the revamped ML line keeps up the pace.

Be warned... the Legends path is a pricey one especially if the figs you search for are the Toy biz ones.

yeah that's why it'd prolly be easier to mix and match based on what one can find and afford.
i'd prolly go with a Select hulk or hunt down a ML face off one, Select hawkeye, either newish ML black widow from the 2 pack or Select widow, ML black panther, Heroclix ant man and wasp or find those articulated ones loose, ML face off captain america, modern ML thor, and some form of iron man like the movie version or new ML one or wait till there's a better one.

Yeah, I have all three of them (I like the option to change out a hulk depending on what I want at the time).

Here's what I have to say about them.

Face off Hulk looks amazing and is perfect for a classic avengers squad. His only shortcomings are lack of a stomach crunch and NO FISTS. This Hulk NO SMASH! This Hulk Bitch Slap! RRWWWAAAR! lol

Marvel Select Hulk is the best sculpt in general, but is an absolute brick. He has very limited articulation as is the case with most of the MS line, but small price to pay for the look and size. I'm lazy so rather than break up my current Avengers display here's some size comparisons. If you can stand limited poses for your Hulk this is the Hulk you want:

Personally, The 2010 Marvel Legends Fan Choice TRU Exclusive Hulk from the Valkerie 2 pack is my favorite. Best articulation out of all the Hulks (he's basically the Red Hulk BAF) and he's based off of the Grant Morrison artwork. He fits in the best with the upcoming Avengers Assemble team (movie roster) that is releasing in Marvel Comic continuity this March.

i have started collecting them my self unlike you though i have gone for movie versions which i feel might be a mistake cause i havent heard about the avengers 6 inch line all i can hope for is a possible late realse date although they havent got one i focused on an easy group i.e one from the movie mixed with avengers earths mighest heroes animted series the cartoon series is marvel legends and the other movie, but if you want a comic version then simply go for the marvel legends line as Tiberius said.

I just bought this figure. He looks fantastic. Can't wait until he arrives.

I blame Tiberius and Greenskar for the coin I dropped on him.

You might as well get the 6" Bucky Cap. He looks amazing and should be much more affordable if you manage to grab him from Walmart or Target. Iron Man and Thor shouldn't be too difficult since they're out right now, unless you wanted classic versions of them. Widow will be difficult unless you pick up a Movie figure (assuming they do a 6" version of her).

Have you decided if you are going to do a Marvel Select Avengers or a Marvel Legends Avengers yet? All of these figures are probably cheaper in the Marvel Select line than Legends.

Edit: Here's some examples of what you can expect as a display if you go the Marvel Select route instead of the more expensive Legends route (note: these are not mine)

"I only need Cap.,Hulk, Widow, Thor, Hawk Eye, and Iron Man. "

You picked some of the most expensive toys to buy loose/moc. Good-luck

Ironman is up to yourself what suit, if you want movie feel then go with the Iron man Armoured Avenger Tony Stark Figure, great figure, comes with Tony Stark headsculpt and helmet to interchange and can be found for around $20 on ebay. Or wait for the 6'' Avengers figures, or the new ML version of Extremis IM is good for $20, most of the older IM figures ranging from series 1 to the 2packs are gonna cost like $20-100 depending on the figure, faceoff, modern armour and classic IM, all amazing figures just depends on the era you want to pull off.

Thor there's a few the new ML version is good, there will be an avengers version.

Hawkeye is like $50-100 for the ML or $20-40 for the MS either is good
Blackwidow is $30-100 depending on the seller on ebay. some idiot was charging $200,lol

and hulk I would go with MS he's bigger and meaner then the ML version and is on par with cheapest you'll find. I would add Nick Fury myelf, then if you do that you'll need some shield agents and then some hydra agents to fight them and redskull to lead them with crossbones to protect him lol, see where this can lead out of hands, lol.

How oversized is MS Hawkeye compared to Legends? Anyone have a comparison pic? ML Hawkeye aftermarket prices are depressing as f*ck.
