is there an alternate to the MU: H.A.M.M.E.R Winter Soldier figures?!? as the picture shows two figures of Bucky with short and shoulder length hair. So I guess there is or may be there isn't?!?

Yep, and it seems to be pretty common, too.

The long hair version is the variant, but it's maybe more common than the shorter haired version. What can I say Hasbro is strange about some things.
This has been know since before that wave came out. |

I have yet to see this guy.
SAME THING WITH THE IRON PATRIOT. My Walmart has like 3-4 of the Unmasked versions and 3-4 of the Short hair Bucky's I NEED A HELEMTED VERSION AND A LONG HAIR VERSION.

but wait a minute here, in the story arch Bucky has Shoulder length hair as the Winter Soldier. It's only after that he dons the mantel of Cap that he cuts his hair short, so in reality it would be that the short hair figure is the variant no?!?

Whether or not he had short hair in the comics has nothing to do with which one of the figures is the variant. Plus, I'm pretty sure that I remember him having short hair in flashbacks to his early years as the Winter Soldier.

Not sure which is the variant. Not really sure if one is really a variant but a running change. Hasbro seems to doing that a lot with their Marvel stuff. Whichever version came out first, let's say the short-hair version (which is the one I found first, not necessarily that it did come out first) is probably going to be the more rare version. Once they make that change, in this case the long hair, that is how it will be from now on and probably be the more common one.
When they did the Marvel Legends 2-Pack with Ronin and Elektra, the human version was released first. I thought the Skrull version was the more rare of the two. When the Skrull "variant" came out it was the only version I ever saw from that point on, to this day. It appears to me that the human version ended up being the more rare one. I think the same thing is happening with the Marvel Universe Skrull figure. At first I only saw the version with the Skrull writing on the stand. Now, I only see the English version. Not sure if thats how they will be from now on, but I think it might. |

I think short is the variant., that's the only one I've seen even when I saw multiples of the figure.

i also get for the first time from preorder is the long hair one, and already get the short one from ebay (below usd 10, not too expensive i think so i choose get that from ebay rather to hunt from one store to another)
i think some area or country have this differently, like maybe for US or another europe country get the short version as normal figure and another country such asia and others will have the long one as normal figure...so some times, HASBRO will change that without make public announcement, like the Marvel Legends BLOB Series, i remember in asia region all get the variant in their sets. For now i think, not too important if you see different figure from hasbro and says that a normal or variant one. I think hasbro give that kind of models to make suprise or rise up the value of their stuff in the market. easy example, the unmasked iron patriot. everyone said that rare and variant or whatever they have say, even there's a crazy seller sell that for USD 200 for 3inch figure !!...but now, already grow up more people said to see often for that unmasked version in retails store. it means, hasbro is not make VARIANT / CHASE Figure in low stock anymore. if you found a lot in the market, you cant said that a variant / chase figure...i think for this one we should be patient, dont judge too fast that the figure is variant / chase., maybe after that hasbro will produce more for that type (running change)

^ I agree. Funny about that Iron Patirot for that stupid price. I really, really hope nobody actually bought it for that amount. Seems the unmasked Iron Patriot is becoming more common.

BBTS had exactly one of the Norman Osborn head IPs for $200. There was even a whole thread about it (and how everyone agreed that no one would buy it at that price).
Now it's listed as sold out. Can't even view it or see if they changed the price. They do have the regular version in stock for $9.99 though. BigBadToyStore.com Search

Personally I thought about grabbing one at a store and selling it to them, and see what they'd pay. xD
