Since it's removable, I'm in.

But yeah, this is a disappointing year for Mattel's SDCC offerings. I'm not interested in anything they've shown yet. Come on Hasbro!

Ewwwwwwwwww, that box is not very nice. In fact, I just throw out the boxes because they are not worth keeping. The artwork has been hit or miss, the bios are boring, and they take up way too much room.

At least the SDCC Death Statue/Non poseable figure last year had a box worth keeping, It was great. I cut the back off of all of the DC CIE figures and only keep those. And yes the CG box art is totally hit or miss.

The Shazam announcement confuses me. It's constantly referred to as the CIE New 52 Billy Batson, yet Mattel says it's not part of the Club subscription. It's supposedly an SDCC exclusive, but you can preorder it and they've already announced that he will be available online after the show?

Also, I didn't see any SDCC logos or markings on the packaging in any of the pics of Billy so far. But I wasn't going over them with a fine-toothed comb, so I could have missed it if it was small enough. It's almost like he's an SDCC exclusive and not an SDCC at the same time...

...Schrodinger's Exclusive?

On the other hand, I love the Hot Wheels Asteroids exclusive. To me, that's what an exclusive should be: a unique deco that expands on an existing line with packaging that's nothing like what you'd find at retail and also follows the theme of the toy & deco. Having said that, I'm not about to try and get one.

Nice paint job, but still not enough. Now if it had come in a two pack with Murdoch's helicopter....

Nice. Looks like they went for the Julie Newmar version.

A kid with rage/angst issues? Perish the thought.

But seriously, he sounds more like Black Adam than Billy. Speaking of - is there a 52 Black Adam? I haven't been keeping up with any DC books since they rebooted.

Yeah, there is a nu52 Adam. He has come up at least twice in the new Justice League book (#7 and #10). He was a slave that was granted powers by the wizard Shazam in ancient times to save Khandaq but was them imprisoned. Dr. Sivana released him so now he is in the present, and seeking revenge against Shazam.

His new costume is similar to the nu52 Captain Marvel, but all black, including the hood. Adam's lighting bolt emanates light from (magical?) energy from within his body. He hasn't otherwise been part of the plot yet.

Unless they're offering a huge discount on those poorly made hoverboards, I don't think anyone'll bite. Actually, instead of a discount, how about a free kick to Matty's gonads? I'd gladly buy one if it meant I could kick that Fiberglass headed smug bastard in the kiwis.

This is the absolute worst SDCC crap from Mattel in years. I probably would have still bought Capt Marvel had there been a MH exclusive to warrant the shipping cost.

I think I want that MOTUC Rokkon & Stonedar set, but I will probably pass on Mattel's other exclusives.

As far as the Shazam figure goes I think he would look better with some red metallic paint instead of the burgundy look that figure has. So far I haven't purchased any of the 52 stuff yet since I haven't even read the comics. I might end up passing on them all since I'm more into the character's classic looks which I grew up with instead.

when you think of hot collectible item that fans will go absolutely berserk for hover boards wouldn't even crack the top 2000. for the size of that thing they should make the keaton and other batman movie figures.
hoverboard is the biggest poorly made pos mattel has made in years.
i would think a doc brown of marty figure might be a better sdcc exclusive? you know the characters of the film, those two.
the shazam figure, there's nothing really great about it other than fancy packaging. i think mattel need to cut back on the grandiose boxes and spend a bit more time making desirable toys. everyone would be in a better mindset in regarding mattel as a toy manufacturer.
