^Or the idea that the hair is too exaggerated on this latest Mattel version. The 'mane' looks to be pretty spot-on, based on this concept photo. I thought about posting comparisons pics, as you have, but I lacked the time or interest. Not to mention, some people on this website can often be so dogmatic in their persnickety/personally-skewed views, that discourse becomes more of a chore than anything enlightening or remotely entertaining. Fortunately, you contributed a great conceptual image and I can simply comment.

The "too bulky" complaint struck me as strange also, since as a Panthro fan, it always irked me that Lion-O was as physically imposing (if not more so, due to his greater height) as the resident 'strongman' of the group...maybe the notion that Lion-O should be less muscle-bound is fostered by the precipitous drop-off in the quality of artwork in the latter episodes, where every character seemed to feature far less detail and attention.

I said before that I like the fig. But hey, if people are caught up on the hair-do, then maybe they've missed their calling as beauticians...that's just a joke by the way (for the thin skinned and slow of wit) but seriously, Revlon's got your hook-up...slide them your resume. Ya' never know...
