could be a proto but that's playing fast and loose with the term "action figure".

Would have much rather a non gun carrying classic spawn, also that pose and those guns are awkward and lame as hell.

Not a fan of the action statues overall, but for certain one off characters I just want as fillers, I'm ok with it. Like spawn. So I'll prob pick this up. It would be nice if the arms could be posed differently, that one pointing out will fark up a shelf quick.

That's what I was thinking. While I'm more of a fan of sculpt over articulation, the McFarlane figures have always been a little overboard with the de-emphasis on articulation. Basically you'd better love the pose they gave it because that's all you're gonna get.

Either way, I'm sure I would have loved this thing fifteen years ago.

Sweet, it's the 90s again. Spawn is still a thing and he beat up a Battle Corps GI Joe and stole his big stupid guns. And Todd's back into doing statues with 3 POA, noice.

I can't wait to relive Urkelmania.

right.....
when i looked at the pic i was like....Don't I own that figure already.
He should license his own character out and let someone else have a go at it... simultaneously...
Other companies do it all the time. Lets have some Figuarts, and Hot Toys Spawns as well.(so they can actually move)

I'd be ok with this (other than the dumb guns and bad pose) if it were in the 10" scale. I prefer non-articulated "figures" to be a little larger, to look more like statues. But at this small size, I'd really want them to have some basic ability to change poses. I don't see myself buying many, if any, of the color Tops stuff.

I'm right there with ya Joe.

I like the licenses they have and I like the overall designs, but if I wanted a statue I wouldn't go looking for small $20 statues I would want one large enough to be showcased.

I really don't get the appeal of these color tops line. The only people I see collecting these are people that have character specific collections. Like if I had everything Spawn "figure" to date this would be a must buy, but then again if I had every Spawn "figure" I would already have this Action Statue, lol.

Really want to see the articulation soon. He keeps saying it will have like 15 POA.

Well, I like them. Will get both versions. Spawn has been carrying guns for a long time in the comics, so I'm cool with it. Almost all of the Spawn figures I have are gunless, so it'll be nice to get these.

Damn. If this had been like the Walking Dead, Halo, or Assassin's Creed figures they've been making I'd get it in a heartbeat. When and why did they start making statue "figures" again?

Action figure or not I like it. People pay hundreds for Statues, I'd consider it a cheaper alternative to statues.

It wouldn't be the '90s since back then Spawn figures actually were action figures with gimmicks and standard articulation. It was weird since the comics had very mature content and they were pushing toys that kids could buy, but hey Robocop, Aliens, Terminator, and Predator did it so why not? Spawn figures didn't become little statues until the beginning of the 2000s and they carried on as such until about 2008 or 2009. I bought quite a number of the different plastic statues because I did like some of the poses like the issue 43 one where Spawn's supported by a metal rod to give him a flying effect and his cape is all crazy around him. This new offering on the other hand has a very vanilla pose so it's a pass, as a creation of the '90s Spawn looks "extreme" and he needs extreme poses to keep it cool.

That humungous "gun" dredges up dark memories of Rob Liefeld's artistic style.

I could go for a well-designed, well-articulated Angela figure.

It wouldn't be a true late 90's McFarlane experience if they didn't make the joints out of extremely brittle plastic that snaps at the slightest movement.

I take it back. Angela was practically naked most of the time, so any figure would look really bad, less a figure than an bric-a-brac assembly of parts.

it is not an Action Figure, it is an statue.

Iam really sure (hm around 90%) that it will STAY a Statue,
even upon release.

Because MCFarlane sucks, and he will not produce Articulated Spawn Figures anymore.

I was a huge spawn fan myself when i was younger, but then it came to an end, when the figures got more worse with each release, removing more and more articulation from the Figures with each new release.

I would buy a good looking articulated Spawn Figure, with 16,17, or 18cm right upon release.

But MCFarlane has become an idiot. Because what Mafex and S.H. Figurarts can do, he can also do, but he doesnt want to.

If he really wants to....REVIVE his Spawn, he should start with good figures, that include Mask and unmasked Heads (like Batman Figures for example)
that come with a lot of Weapons, and can be put in different poses with a ton of Articulation.

If Mafex can throw out awesome Figures for around 50$, MCFarlance can also, how i said.
But he will not do it. Not now, not the upcoming Months or Years. Thats how MCFarlanes Company works now.
Producing stupid Statues, that are just standing there.

No man the super-brittle plastic stayed on until the series ended, it just became less of an issue because there was less and less articulation to actually break.

I'm pretty sure it would cost less than $50 to make something like Mafex, a chunk of the Mafex price comes from importation. I believe between $10 and $20 of Mafex figure prices come from having to import them. I guess a company like NECA would be the better comparison since they're also American and their standard figures only land around $20 yet feature articulation that puts McFarlane stuff to shame.
