My concern for this variant is that they are also going to glue it down to peg holes. So you won't be able to remove the extra stuff if you want without visible damage/holes.
Haha, I hear you. Todd is taking us back to the DC Universe Classics days when every accessory and variant headsculpt required a chase variant...! I guess it is hard to make ends meet without charging Japanese import prices.

Same thing with Bloodshot. Everyone knows they’re bald. It’s not a crime to just wear a realistic wig to pretend to be a character. What’s next? A bald Namor?

I'm a little disappointed that there's not more gold on the costume; the belt, boots, and bracers are all there, no reason not to color them to add more contrast to break up the otherwise all black suit.

Yeah, that's on the movie though, not the figure for following it.

EDIT Wait a moment, it looks like that in hand figure does have the color on the belt, boots, and bracers. Huh.

Seems like maybe the "black belt/boots/bracers -> gold belt/boots/bracers" may be a thing in the movie, being reflected in the figures? Maybe we'll know more when the trailer releases later today.

I think in this case, it has to do with the actor versus the character. In both cases of Black Adam and Bloodshot, I'm willing to bet more people in the world know who the Rock is versus Black Adam. More people in the world know who Vin Diesel is versus Bloodshot. Therefore, it's more beneficial to have the character look like the actor than the other way around.

Yes, the appeal to the masses is basically "The Rock playing a superhero character" not "Black Adam is getting a movie".

Well, yeah, this is more of a vehicle for the Rock than an instance of DC and the fans finally getting that Black Adam movie they've been wanting.

I'm ok with that. It's either no ab cut, or split the symbol onto two parts, which will rarely line up. Gotta choose your poison.

I'd prefer either of those actually. Seperating the symbol seems the most logical though.Since it's only a small portion of the symbol that would be seperated anyway.

EDIT: OK, it's not that bad. And yes, I can see the action figure as representing an early 20-something.
I agree, but I’m just glad she has pants.

I don’t know what the heck Ross was thinking showing that much of her… female area.

Recreating Marilyn Monroe iconic pic. Also Ross tends to draw the swimsuit region close to the groin for all his female characters.

Well now that we got official pics

Overall it's generally got the same shortcomings as the majority of Mcfarlane figures.

They refuse to account of articulation in the sculpt. They refuse to add standard alternate hands/heads/accessories. But it's much better this go around. The lack of a wash does inhibit some details popping through. Lastly they keep designing the Torso articulation wrong so you can't use it.

Black Adam - A really good likeness and a good sculpt. The is ZERO reason for two figures to exist. Especially with a 3rd one on the way. Just combine the two figures into one package and if need be charge $25. It's just ridiculous what Mcfarlane is doing here.

He also has peg hands vs the tumor joints like Arkham Knight Red Hood.

Dr Fate - So rare to see a non Superman figure come with a flight stand despite all the flyers. The only thing that seems wonky is the head and well that's because it's a new thing. I wonder if it's meant to be asymmetrical or if that's the molding. No alt head but I wonder if the costume only forms after the helmet is on.

Atom Smasher - Looks a little like Deadpool. It's got a set of alternate hands which is great. The Torso cut is sensible. But I have 0 interest in Atomsmasher. I assume he unmasks in the movie, so no alt head is a miss(assuming).

Atom Smasher Megafig - It's just a bigger version. Does nothing different except you don't have alt hands.

Cyclone - She comes with an accessory. To be honest I'm pretty meh on the movie costume.

Sabbac - Sculpt looks great but is let down by the poorly thought out articulation cuts. Also at $40 I should gets some extra hands and effect parts. I assume he throws some fire.

I think they sculpted The Rock's cousin/stunt double instead for the hoodless figure.

On the positive note, Cyclone does look better, she's got a smirk and looks less bored.

His likeness rights were way cheaper.
