Yeah, McFarlane's sculpts lately have been superior, Mattel has been hit and miss. I'm all for this.

Spin Master might surprise us with 1:18th/4" figures then.

Mcfarlane with 6" and other stuff is fine, they can generally match or outperform anything they need to, and have a better model for maintaining profit.

Neca and Mcfarlane will get along fine as needed per whichever.
Though do keep in mind that Mcfarlane has better wider market reach than Neca still. That was probably one of the bigger reasons for the choice, and it may also make it easier to cover the Spawn/Batman crossover material too.

The only way I care about the Four Horsemen is if they get Ric Flair back.

Yup. I actually have mine with my dc direct collection. They were to tall for the normal dc universe. In my opinion.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this news. I'm not surprised that Mattel lost the DC license and I think it's great that DC/WB is giving different companies the opportunity to make DC figures. But based on IGN's telephone interview with Todd McFarlane, it sounded like they'll be taking over some of DC Collectibles business too. I've read that DC Collectibles is being folded into WB Consumer Products so who knows what their future holds for them. I've really enjoyed the figures DC Collectibles have made over the past few years with DC Icons, DC Essentials, and Batman The Animated Series. Even though Icons is over, I really hope that DC Essentials line can continue for a little longer.

That's good to hear. I've been wanting their comic Batman ever since it was revealed. Since Neca has been making Kenner inspired figures for Aliens, Predator, and Terminator, I wonder if they'll try to do the same for Batman using their 89 Batman figure.

So they don’t have 3.75 from the sounds of the release. Wonder if that means Spinmaster may try a 3.75 line.

The articulation fear completely dissolves if they go the route of their Fortnite figures for these DC figures. They actually slightly exceed Marvel Legends in terms of points of articulation and reach into Figuarts/MAFEX range.

If they do DC figures having sculpt quality close to that of the recent Star Trek Capt. Kirk, then I will be one happy camper. Hang the articulation: I'm looking forward to some really nice LOOKING action figures from classic DC. This could be a real opportunity for Macfarlane, if they take time to do things right. I say: CONGRATULATIONS, MACFARLANE!

At least Spin Master won't have a chokehold on DC next year.

7" scale according to McFarlane, but I personally don't have any to show a size comparison.

Years ago, McFarlane sculptors were butthurt (rightfully so) that he was refusing to credit them on the packaging and some of those guys went on to Neca after the McFarlane studio in Jersey closed down. That's it.

I don’t know if there is bad blood. I know many sculptors jumped to neca because they were tired of sculpting hockey players. Once Todd lost that big lawsuit he was in big trouble...maybe bankruptcy....I don’t remember....but just in the last year or so I remember a story about his company emerging from financial trouble and now he was in a great place. That is why he is going gun-ho on properties. Now Todd can come off as arrogant some times....though I have always found him very down to earth and easy to talk to. I,and many conversed with him on the spawn board....awe memories....I even was talking with him about doing twin peaks figures....of course now with the return that would be even more amazing....back to it. There are lots of fans for neca and mcfarlane to co-exsist.

That said,I believe the dc stuff will be beyond what he is doing now. He set the standard in the 90’s for other companies. Now let’s see him do it again. Expectations are very high, but so are his. He is an artist first,he will delivery that. We need him to be a fan as well. That means articulation. He knows he is now taking the place of Mattel and dc collectibles. That is a tall order. He will put more pressure on himself than we ever could . He will deliver. That said,I also want new spawn!

Honestly mcfarlane ( and neca ) need to switch to more durable plastics and get better qc. Thats always been my issue with their stuff. It might look great but their stuff breaks way too easy.

Neca is much better now. Every predator I have until around series 5 or 6 is super glued some where. Series 3 you could see the air bubbles in the leg and arm pegs when they broke. My old joke with mcfarlane was, don’t look at a figure to long....it will just break in front of you. They both use harder plastics, where as Mattel and Hasbro use a more bendy almost gummie kind of plastic.....though it still holds up well. The newer dc and even mcu stuff has been firmer and yet still movable. In my opinion.

I have heavy experience collecting NECA figures and only one (Spiked Tail Predator) ever broke but I have seen enough to know that breakage used to be pretty common. I did have many breakages occur across my McFarlane collection but that was their early and mid 2000s stuff, the few modern McFarlane pieces I've gotten have all been solid so far.

I've only had one major break, with 7" Reeve Superman, but I can't get over the feeling that the joints are really brittle, like it doesn't take much if a joint is stuck and you force it for it to snap.

Word is McFarlane will really be pushing the design limits, with up to three points of articulation per figure.

This from a guy that started a comic company because DC and Marvel refused to recognize creator's rights. Irony.
