These speedster designs are not really my cup of tea but that baf looks great ! Its really appealing to my monster bias so I guess im might get this wave after all .Well Todd you got me with this one.
Anyone see gold label dark flash yet? I havent seen anything around here.

LOL looking at these responses really makes me think. I actually thought the BAF is the weakest fig of the wave but that might just be the generational gap showing. I don't mind the spikes, face tats, ripped denim, and chains on the figures. Reminds me of Kiss, Metallica, Slipknot, David Bowie etc. Wallace West is the only one that looks a little out of place. I guess those big sunglasses reminds me of the future people from Bill and Ted's Adventures. There were a lot of big visor sunglasses in the 70s-80s future rock theme.

I think it's less about the music and the genre itself as far as most of the designs go. But more importantly, probably just an excuse to have an insane amount of what if bat variants. Hard to believe Todd didn't create this comic series.

While im in the minority of liking this wave and the metal figures, i do hope for bat variants like the mindhunter or the bat who frags

He didn't, but Greg Capullo did, who ran the Spawn books after McFarlane for a while before moving over to Batman/DC. So, Todd's influence trickled down to DC before circling back to him for the toys hehe.

I think it obviously has 0% to do with the music and 100% about the fashion the metal genre inspired. The deathmetal Batman looked like Gene Simmons holding an axe guitar. Todd is clearly obsessed with the style with how he created the Spawn characters. The chains, spikes, crosses, and demonic symbology. I already wrote what I thought these new characters look like in the post above. They are almost identical to many heavy metal bands and the nod to David Bowie's lightning on the face is quite obvious. The metal Wonder Woman fig looks like she was ripped straight out of Heavy Metal 2000, albeit with more clothing so it'll not offend parents. It matters not if Todd didn't create this comic, he's obviously very on board with it and prefer to push this toyline forward over many others. I'm sure Mindhunter and Batman who Frags are on the way my friend. They totally fit Todd's taste.
