Mafex showed that they're doing Ivy, so somebody is doing one but it will be a pricier import. The fact that McFarlane made an Ivy-controlled Superman makes it seem like we should expect them to get to her although with no actual confirmation that could be a ways off.

This looks... Bad. No idea why the gloves still don't have a sculpted cuff line, and that barrel-chest combined with toothpick legs looks terrible...

Depending on proportions and scale with existing figures, could be a winner. Agreed, not a fan of the paint gloves, but if that's the only issue I'll take it.

Really just want normal versions of the core characters, and this is close.

Proportion wise, this looks better than the Mafex one.

Solely going by pictures of the Mafex and the Mcfarlane, I have to respectfully disagree haha

The Mcfarlane one is more like if the hush Batman was cosplayed by a person with a good physique. I prefer it. It's not comic acurate. It's Mcfarlane accurate (take that for whatever you think it means).

I hate the Mafex figures. But their hush Batman's face and outfit is spot on to the comic. Even if it is overpriced poorly made trash.

I only say this because Mafex’s neck and legs are a bit too thin for Jim Lee’s Batman. The belt is also too big. Cape is too… big, and it hides his shoulders so all we see is his skinny legs and it just looks like skinny Batman wearing a poofy towel.

This McFarlane has the right idea on proportions, in general. Thicker neck, thicker thighs and belt that’s not too big.

I still have Mafex Hush Batman on my shelf, btw, so I’m not being biased.

I like my Super Powers Hush Batman with custom cape. I’m surprised that this multiverse one doesn’t look horrible.

Mafex are indeed overpriced. Should be $60-70, not 100 more.

But the McFarlane Batmen scales are all over the place, with strange looking limbs and chests. What Todd has going for him is quantity, throwing so much shit against the wall and hoping a few stick. He has saturated the market so much there is no point in paying full price for any of his stuff. Just wait for clearance.

You could pretty much kit bash your perfect Superman or Batman at this point. But that obviously is not better than actually making a single, perfect figure. Which he has yet to do.

They generally are that price range but importing just costs a ton.

No it does not. At least no more than any other company has to pay to have a toy shipped to the US from a Chinese factory. Most things purchased (non-essential) in the United States are imported from other countries. Import toy cost is a price gouging tactic companies have convinced the consumer is a standard and warranted practice so they never mind the fee and profit they gain.

I think there are some other factors tho. Import costs for toys like this I think generally means that each retailer is securing and shipping small lots of product to themselves directly.

With Hasbro, they make 100,000 units of said thing, and ship it on containers with other Hasbro products, and get the discount for bulk. It then lands and gets delivered to one place by large trucks or trains, to be distributed elsewhere in the US.

With let's say BBTS for example, he obtains 500 units of one product and ships it either by boat via a partial container, or if he's lucky fills an entire container and then trucks/flies it to the BBTS warehouse. And for others, just straight uses China Post/USPS or flies it here. With no bulk ongoing discount with the company or the shippers.

In addition, he may not have an account directly with Medicom/Mafex in Asia because it's not allowed, so he's paying a middle man with elevated wholesale price, or, just paying Asian retail for the units.

If Mafex has a US Distrubution arm, where they are sending all products to the US constantly, and that one warehouse receives it, then that can bring costs down, because BBTS etc can just pick it up there, or it can be mailed from there to a US address. MAFEX's own costs would be built into the cost BBTS etc pay tho. Most don't have that. I think that's why Storm went with BBTS, to have that method available in the States.

Not saying import pricing isn't a gouge at times, but there are factors at play to increase things for small retailers.

I think the ease of international ordering and lower cost of individual packages from overseas has spoiled us in recent years. But it doesn't negate that there is cost for importing small batch items.
