Hasbro seems to have made the same mistake with Fortnite as they did with Overwatch in that they're getting in on the action late in the game.

I mean, I know Fortnite is still popular, but I think it may have already passed its peak and we've already gotten tons of figures from Jazzwares and McFarlane. Not sure if the demand is still there.

The Fortnite license seems to be a very versatile one, so I can definitely see them do well with it. But they definitely need to approach it not from a "which hot Fortnite figures can we sell" angle, because the target audience of that game don't usually buy these figures.

They definitely should approach it from a "which of these character designs will make a figure that's attractive to collectors" angle. Pick and choose interesting figures from the game's endless catalog and make sure to focus on designs that can fit into other lines, especially other Hasbro 6" lines, be it ML, or Joe Classified or SWBS.

I picked up Blackheart for $19.99 at Walmart the other day... hasbro must be out their got dam mind charging $41.99! Jazwares could do it for less than HALF the price for the same scale.

Between this and that crowd funding haslab BS they are getting WAY too greedy for my money

So because they call this a deluxe release it's 41.99 instead of 19.99, or their new MSRP of something like 22.99. Fair enough but let's see what's included.

Hasbros box says 2 figures, 7 accessories. The robot owl looks to be a backpack and has shoulder/wing articulation and maybe a balljoint for the head. That's not a second figure. Seems pretty deceptive to describe it like that honestly.

EDIT: Checked again, looks like maybe the owl on the wrench, called a pickaxe in game, has shoulder articulation. My daughter said the owl becomes a rideable glider.

I'll repeat what I said when Hasbro announced the license. I don't think they'll offer the value that Jazwares does. Jazwares had 6 or 7 accessories with every figure and unique sculpts all the time. I get it. Hasbro wanna stretch every bit of profit out of this line. It makes me wonder what they paid for this license to be so stingy compared to Jazwares offerings.

I'm not interested in this line except for my absolute favorite skins and thats basically because Jazwares won't be able to get to them. Hasbro has shown some cool figures Jazwares didn't do yet and even interesting things like the shark and accessories but it's hard to get excited seeing their pricing.

Only time will tell if this becomes like the Overwatch line. If so, I'll pick some up once they hit $5 clearance like all those figures did lol.

I missed the $41.99 price point. This line is doomed.

I remember the Overwatch figures showing up at my ROSS... nobody bought them there either, so they discounted them all to like 3 bucks each. I would have bought them for parts and weapons, but the OW figs are a weird exaggerated scale... I hope these fit more in line with Legends and Joes, so you can buy them up for parts when they undoubtedly go on clearance.

Well this is what’s frustrating with hasbro now. They had a fantastic 4” marvel universe line but cut quality to 5 PoA and said the price point was too sensitive due to the licensing cost.
Now they pick up the fortnite line, more than DOUBLE the price compared to jazwares and can claim it’s due to the licensing. Hopefully this is not a normal thing and hasbro can keep the prices down. The owl back bling looks slick on Dr. Doom

^ The surprising thing to me is that the retro 5POA Marvel line seems like it is actually selling pretty good... probably selling better than the later reduced articulation MU figs did anyway. And the quality control on the 5POA line seems to be much better than the later 3.75" fully articulated figures which almost always had horrible paint apps on the faces.

Did Jazwares lose the license? I thought that they had it simultaneously with McFarlane. I bought the McFarlane Peely that came out years ago, and then the littler Peely made by Jazwares, at around the same time.

For the record, I've never played a match of Fortnite in my life. I just love the idea of a Banana man with a gun. Same reason I'm trying to find The Brat figure, although I've had no luck.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've never played Fortnite, but I've bought every Peely figure in existence. Adorable anthropomorphic bananas rule.

I think one benefit here is that Hasbro an use their multiple licenses to cross over.

Like Fortnite had multiple Star Wars skin events, so they can easily make a say Mandalorian Fotnite version.

But yeah, otherwise, they seem really late to the party. Overwatch and Fortnite, while popular still, just aren't the powerhouses they were a few years ago.
