In a surprise announcement, Super7 revealed 4 vintage 5.5" MOTU figures in 2 Epic Battle 2 packs. There's He-Man and Skeletor in one pack and She-Ra and Hordak in the other. They are available for pre-order now for $45 each on their site. Pre-orders close May 15th (or sooner).

I ordered them. I'm hoping that they will also do single carded figures, too. If they do stick with the 2 packs, I really hope we get a good selection of characters. I know they had said they had a possible retail partner earlier, I wonder if that's still the case.

Edit: On their site, they are $45. They are now on BBTS for $69.99! Shipping to my location from their site was $12 for both 2 packs.

I pre-ordered the 2-packs directly from Super 7.

Wait that's kinda iffy info. "May 15th or sooner". Curious, am I good as long as I order before this weekend? Is what I was curious about & any info on that would be appreciated .

I'm glad these are sold out right away, but its kinda odd because they were trying to mass retail them and it didn't pan out. I hope they put them up again and do another batch

Wtf man, I never usually check this site after like 6pm cuz articles are rarely get posted that late, I totally missed out on this. Sold out already, that's stupid. I'd get Stridor if I could get the He-Man/Skeletor 2 pack, no point in getting it now.

Apparently it was a pre-sale, not a preorder and they sold out quick. Rumour has it that they will all be sold as singles down the line. These are in the Filmation style, with the smooth boots, etc., so if they plan on also doing straight re-issues of the vintage line, those could be single-carded. Also, there's no confirmation that finding them later at retail is no longer on the table.

Yeah, I figure the toy style versions will get the single card treatment. Still sucks for people that missed out.

Agreed. I don't know if they set a limit per person, but if not they should have. Somebody on the original Instagram post said they bought 15 of each set. I'm sure it's BS, but if not, it's even bigger BS.

I don't think there was a limit. There's a pic making the rounds of someone who bought 100 of the he-man sets.

What's the difference?

I missed out on these, so seeing something like that sucks. Oh well, maybe I'll come across them later.

The difference, at least to Super7, is that for preorders, the figures are made to order, ie they don't go anywhere near manufacturing until the orders are in. Since these 2 packs are shipping in July, they must already be completely made and if the stock is not already in there hands, then it's on a boat on it's way back. Hence, pre-sale; sell them before they ship them, as opposed to preorder; sell them before they make them.

Why they went this route? No idea. Probably not the best way. They are getting lit up on Facebook pretty hardcore. Maybe even worse than NECA last year with the TMNT sets.

I mean it's done, I can't do anything about this. I'm pissed, but not enough to blast Super 7 online. I've gotten lucky plenty of times with Mezco One:12, Marvel Legends, Figuarts, etc when others haven't and missed out. Just sucks the pre-sale happened so late in the day, currently working 7 days a week and like 13 to 15 hour days, I was like crashed out when these went up, didn't stand a chance at grabbing any of these and then to hear certain folks ordered a bunch, simply so they can flip them on the secondary market is just balls. If they had made this a pre-order, tons of people would have ordered, myself included. Doing a pre-sale with very little heads up is dumb. Four Horsemen give like a month notice when they have sales. I'll try my luck on ebay or just resign to the fact that I missed out on these.

My feeling is that they are a going to have a huge announcement/ rollout of the vintage line at SDCC, if not sooner (to assuage the bitter folk). These 2 packs were probably just a quick, last minute surprise that wasn't well executed. They should definitely have set a limit, if not given people a bit more lead time.
The lack of follow-up communication by them is what is really irking people. All they had to do was come back and say, "Don't worry, there WILL be more available in single cards soon", the ire would be a lot less. There's just no way given the license and the rabid fandom that this is the only shot at these.

SpasticPlastic, I think you're spot on. And I agree, super lame that Super 7 has not addressed any of this. But I guess no one is perfect and this is a bit of a blunder. Just kinda dumb, there's gonna be people making bank on the secondary market, Super 7 won't be seeing any of that and now have a bunch of pissed off collectors.

Super 7 handles something badly. What a shock. Are they trying to alienate the fanbase so they can call it quits on MOTU by next year?
Nah, that would imply a plan.

Here's the statement they just released...

Hi MOTU Fans -

Let us start by saying that we are OVERWHELMED by the response to our Epic Battles 2-Packs. We produced a quantity that we thought would satisfy demand for at least a couple of weeks, so to have them sell out within a day was well beyond our expectations.

We understand many of you are disappointed these sets sold out so quickly. Our intent was certainly not to upset you. We know the feeling when we can’t get the items we want for our collection too, and it’s not fun. Trust us – we want you to get your toys!

However, these 2-packs were always meant as a limited edition debut of the new line, and we will not be producing more. That being said, MOTU fans can be assured that the exact same figures (with the same accessories) will be offered on a single card at some point in the not too distant future. Stay tuned for details.

Thank you again for the support you have given MOTU and Super7.

By the Power of Grayskull!
Team Super7

I too was really surprised to see these were available to order yesterday. I ordered so quick, I didn’t really read that it was a limited edition. Only reason I was able to get a set of them was because a friend on Twitter posted a link. I love my job, but anytime I get a chance, I quickly check my feed. Doing that has been rewarding as SDCC exclusives, Funko, NECA, and even Super 7 have these quick surprise releases that are easy to miss.
At least you can get them single carded!
