As it regards Asian American and Pacific Islander pride month, Fresh Kid Ice might not be readily identified as AAPI given that he's Trini, despite the Island's long history of blended Asian and Afro-Caribbean cultures (a phenomenon that's common in many nations throughout the Caribbean - I've many friends nicknamed "Chinna").

These images and melodies pretty much encapsulate the inner workings of my mind from age seven until now...I'd be ok with these visuals and the accompanying theme playing as they lay me to rest. Family and friends alike would nod their heads and say, "yes, this makes total sense and he would be happy to experience this moment with us all."

Lol Japan had a pretty prolific jazz/funk scene in the seventies. Not to traffic in stereotypes, but I was introduced to this fact as a 8 year old watching Godzilla movies. Consistent with movies around the world, Japanese cinema took their soundtracks seriously. Here's a memorable one:
