I'm pretty much all in on the Mezco Gomez stuff. Some of my favorite figures they've done, I'm sure this will get a bunch of variants that I'm sure I'll pass on, but I really like the card art here and have to at least grab this one.

I'm assuming this will be at DesignerCon too so I'm going to grab one there. Shipping basically doubled the price of this guy.

Why is Gomez a roach and is there some significance to his name being Gomez? Is that his first or last name? Burning questions...

He's the company mascot, their logo is his head. "Gomez" was probably chosen as his name just because it has "Mez" in it.

I'm aware that he's the mascot. And I guess that makes sense as far as his name being Gomez (did you read that somewhere?). But why is he a roach?

Not sure why all these 5 point figures cost more than a Funko Pop. They should only be like 10 bucks.

Funko pops have zero articulation and are basically 2 parts. Every added part is extra cost for a mold.

Mezco describes him as "The Roach" because he's from New York City and he has great resilience.

As far as whether he's a cockroach or an ant, I'd say either is fair. His main head is very ant looking but he usually comes with an alternate head that more resembles a cockroach.

Also...I lived in NYC for 13 years and only saw one roach and one waterbug, ever, in my appartment...as a bachelor no less.

But wait, there are no roaches in Wisconsin? You sure he's not from Madison or Green Bay? Scott Walker seems a little roach like...he keeps crawling out when you least expect it.

Haha, we have plenty of roaches around these parts. Scott Walker included.

But yeah, that's how Mezco describes him. I think that was before he took on the "Insecta-Sapien from The Void" persona though.

I looooove that this whole Gomez thing is ambiguous. Its lets us create our own stories and all that. It's so rare to have that opportunity with a figure. I hope they keep up the randomness.

I'm in LA and we have a roach problem in the kitchen....ants too. XD

oh, and I watched scarface, and I want this outfit now. With the arm sling and everything, I.e. blood.
