I get the price point, made outta polystone and has LED functions but jesus, for this price you could nearly get a Hot Toys. Looks fantastic tho for sure, awesome piece.

Looks amazing! I just want to know if it will be available for Pre-order elsewhere. Mezco charges a little more than I like for shipping.

Wow. It feels like this is Mezco's way of seeing just how much they can bleed out of their fanboys.

You are absolutely right. A lot of this figure's features are completely unnecessary; polystone, metal components, and LEDs (to a lesser extent). It's definitely a creative way to hike up the price...

That being said, I placed my pre-order as soon as I saw it on BBTS.

What is so special about Polystone?

Price is way too high, IMO. I may have bitten at an $80 price tag, but this is way too much

Polystone is awesome for statues, because sculptors can add a ton more fine detail in it. It's basically a resin that feels like stone, due to additives. It's way better than say, ceramic. Can they get more detail than doing it in the conventional plastic or PVC? No. Will it break more readily? Yes. While not overly fragile, it isn't nearly as durable as plastic or PVC.

There's only 2 reasons they would use it here. Because of the metal parts, (which maybe work better with polystone), or to have a fancy word in the description to raise the price. Honestly, there's not even a reason to use real metal on the figure. That's just another way to spend a little bit of extra money on the figure so they could charge a LOT more.

If they kept this the same materials as all the rest of their figures, but added the LED's, and made it an inch taller, they'd probably charge $110. Which is still WAY too high for this, but that's how they roll. I truly do believe they are testing the limits of what their fans will shell out. Absolutely expect another big "Deluxe" figure with unnecessary bells and whistles to be around the $250 mark.

I think you're pretty right on the money. The only way I'd spend this kinda money, or more (like $250 as you said) would be if it were the right character and right accessories. Like if they did the Rocketeer, and he came with all sorts of accessories and outfit changes or something special, I'd possibly bite. But I struggle paying $250 for Hot Toys at times, so $180 or more on a 6" figure, it better come with some autographed shit or something that makes it rare or special.

They've probably seen what some of their figures sell for on the secondary market and thought "Hell, we could get some of that sweet sweet markup!"

$180.......

would have been an instant buy at $150.

on the fence with this one. on a side note, there's no way in hell that this figure is coming out in 2018. March 2019 at the earliest.

Some could argue that they are already enjoying a bunch of that markup with the normal $80 figures.

I see no reason to use polystone on a fully articulated figure. I can see dozens of 'my Darkseid fell' posts coming after this figure comes out.

Maybe they should include a Boom Tube effect made of foam or something to put behind him, as a combo display piece/protective measure

I remember when Sideshow first released Star Wars figures and they were less than $50.

Great looking line of figures, but those price points are too rich for my poor butt. I'll just stick to collecting MLs.

I've watched this line since the beginning and it seems the prices just keep creeping higher and higher (I guess this particular piece is definitely a leap). I thought the whole point of the 1:12 Collective was to provide near-Hot Toys quality at a smaller scale and price? In the beginning they wanted $60 which I thought was great for what we were getting. Then $70, $80. Where's it gonna end? At this rate we're gonna end up spending Hot Toys money anyway.

Well I guess if you look at it this way; if this was a Hot Toys piece and they made the whole fucking thing out of polystone it'd be like $800. It looks like they're staying at $80 for most of their releases at least; even Popeye who has like no reusable parts and has a lot of accessories is still $80. I figure they could've charged $100 for that one and the same amount of people would buy it.

This isn't really part of the normal price-creep. As dukefett said, their normal releases are staying at ~$80. This is this expensive because they made it out of polystone instead of plastic. It's not a bad price for a figure made out of polystone, but the real problem is that not that many people were asking for it to be made out of polystone, which is more fragile and heavier than the standard plastic.

Maybe they are making them out of polystone so that the figures will be more fragile and break over time? Forcing people to buy the inevitable re-release?

I believe someone from Mezco pointed out in a interview or in a Twitter post that they won't be doing any re-releases.

That's one of the reasons why I didn't support this line. I just can't get behind a company that purposely limits their products, it's basically a invitation to scalpers.
