I figure I should share here as well this is a Grail I've been after for 15 years and I'm sorta at this moment in a state of content...and that feeling of victory now finding it after all these years.
I've been an active collector for the past 5 years really active in the past 4-3 years due to all the various lines I collected getting lots of stuff coming out [Gi Joe 25th Line,Transformers 25th Anniversary,Star Wars Clone Wars] so with things the way they are around here operating on a VERY Tight Budget the past few years as well. I'm rather pleased I've been able to operate on that budget -lots of stress and mood changes not to mention a minor meltdown too caused by it- This is the Gi Joe Terror Drome, I've had it only once in my entire life and I sold it to my best friend back when I was oh I can't remember how old I was then it was around 1995 at least since it was after or before the Flood of 95 -I lived in Bainbridge GA back then, look it up on the map it's a SMALL town - So good thing I came across one of these recently, a seller cleaning out his collection and that's how I always find the good stuff at a cheaper price than all the others [a Terror Drome fully completed can go for over $200 on ebay, and Shipping close to $100 since it's HUGE] The Seller lost out on Shipping on this sucker that's for sure and they had to build a box for it since it's 2 feet wide not to mention fairly heavy too. I managed to score this one for $90, having sold my Transformers Trade Paperbacks earlier that day I had some money and really just paid $60 for it....[for an item like this I'd go into a little debt over it] course at the rate of my sales lately I've been shipping out every other day of the week at times and then theirs my weekend sales that start up. So aside from the Gunpla I've been buying lately and since I got enough kits now to keep me busy for a while and my Anime figures when I sell them off I can get a good $50-$70 for each figure at times things are going well. I'd just want to share with the rest of you that this marks the end of a long hunt for a grail that's always remained elusive for the collection. -Course some of you would just say it's a heap of plastic junk maybe, to me it's pretty damned cool and I plan on letting my nephew play with this thing the next time he's here to see the expression on his face of how cool this thing is since he already calls me cool lol- Collection Addition 10/12/11: Gi Joe Terror Drome and Tactical Platform! « Tyjos's Space Oh in case you guys are wondering about my Nephew, this is my nephew here. Well now I got my Nephew and Niece here…. « Tyjos's Space |

Unfortunatly the MU Figures I saw it as a never ending obsession if I started and got out of that and came to my senses....[and I only got 2 MU Figures still having a small little tiny urge to pick up Saber Tooth to complete the Maverick,Wolverine team]
Well consider how big the Terror Drome is and it was only 1 broken part, I'm ok with that sometimes shit happens and with that being a newer seller on ebay as it always is some can't pack that well. But damn, the urges to buy stuff pretty much go out the window when I glance at the Terror Drome now. It's That firm feeling of Satisfaction and Victory mixed together. I would set my sights on a Fortress Maximus now but eh, it's not worth hunting and obsessing over an tall and more expensive piece of plastic lol. After all these years, I've learned one simple thing about the internet....nothing is really "Serious" on the internet....
LOL I think it was last week or so I made that thread about Retiring, still collected a little bit and now that what I was waiting on arrived that's when I Just sit back and relax and say that's it and pop open a can of Dr. Pepper and relax. And as I posted the question in the How Long Till You Retire thread, and not only made the statement in my other thread is that eventually you'll outgrow this stuff and other things take over..... -This post in fact- How long till you Retire? - Toyark.com Besides when you have THIS much stuff laying about, no need to really buy anymore....-I know there are lots of collectors who have much more than that- ![]() Last edited by Tyjos Azari; 10-12-2011 at 03:07 PM.. |

Do you think Sting will be able to goad you out of retirement by playing tape of you dissing the fans recorded back stage for one more match at "Bound For Glory"?

LOL.....oh well....Just moving on now....anything else is me rambling....
I tell you I'd make a horrible bad guy....I'd suffer the terrible flaw all bad guys have of gloating their plans to the hero who finds the main flaw in it and uses it to save the world and the day.... Still the Euphoria has now worn off from the Terror Drome time to get to work with ebay sales and working on Gunpla....and moving forward with my STDS9 Rewatch which I'm now in Season 7. |

Terror Drome looks nice. It is the best bang for your buck playset. Others may be bigger and have more cool features but I think the Drome is all around fun for play and display. I wouldn't mind getting one if it was super cheap .
The SW Queen's Royal ship I am not that impressed with ( I had one and sold it). I spy 2 DMC time machines. Maybe another big shelf can go up to the right of the TV area above or instead of the smaller shelf there now. Cool stuff. |

I got 3 Back to the Future Diamond Select Deloreans -still missing the Rail Ready one, but just went for the main 3 movie ones which all look great-
With so much stuff that's come out for the lines over the past 5 years since the 25th Anniversary of Gi Joe and Transformers collecting those two lines were pretty good [I avoided the Trap of the Movie Formers and pick those up if I find em deep clearance when I'm out best time to pick up that stuff, so don't be a sucker and buy em since they shelfwarm like crazy now at places] The Terror Drome I couldn't pass up at $90, it was missing the Firebat and since the 25th one had been around for a while and now at a pretty cheap price it was a good haul there. I mean comparing the Terror Drome to the Tactical Playset, you gotta love the fact that Cobra has better financing to build their bases....the Joe's look like they never get any "Cool" looking playsets [I haven't come across a Mobile Command Base yet but have heard that one is pretty awesome] The Naboo Cruiser I like it for it's design since the Ship looks great when you mix it in with a display like this...it's something you don't miss when you walk into my room. After all it is a rather long silver Starship. I just can tell my Nephew is gonna love playing with the Terror Drome and have something he can tell his friends at school about later on. The fact that all these are now on display the next time I have visitors to my room their Jaws will Drop literally. -it's always a "Oh...My" expression with that pause afterwords you know the one when someone just sees something really impressive- This has been the goal for a while and what better way to top off the display setup with the addition of a large playset/base? [Well Fort Max would make this setup even better but I've reached my Endgame in collecting] I got figures from Babylon 5 to Startrel all over the room, my B5 Figures are stowed in a storage tote for now but I'll bring em out again eventually. I have a Zoids Ultrasaurus in the Closet that I'll eventually re-assemble and bring it out and put it on display too. And if you're curious just how many Anime Figures I have: http://myfigurecollection.net/profile/TyjosAzari Check there, I've kept up with my collection the past year there too. Just finding that now that I've played my Endgame with collecting I just want to sit back and relax now....being an objective collector has proven to be very effective. now that the time has come I am rather uncertain how to celebrate it....perhaps a Quiet Chuckle? Very well....I will chuckle..... [Chuckles] Last edited by Tyjos Azari; 10-12-2011 at 06:21 PM.. |
