Still can't believe figures exist for this movie. Not complaining at all, just hard to believe.

I like horror movies. I never saw this movie. Do I want to?

For that reason alone, we should be grateful for NECA's retro line. They can release all sorts of obscure, crazy shit with a minimum of risk. I mean, I finally have a sweet Dr. Philip K. Decker figure from Nightbreed, it's worth it for that alone.

I like a LOT of low budget and weird horror movies, especially from the 70's and 80's. But I personally just never liked this movie. The figures are better than the movie. But, if curiosity gets the better of you, go for the unrated version, which is a bit better. Avoid the 2009 remake, which is far worse.

Sorry for being off-topic Joe, but did you see that Blumhouse/Universal announced a Thing reboot? Maybe this is why the rights were all tied up and ungettable haha

I did see that. They’re going back to the original story. It’s going to be based on a recently unearthed full length version of the story, which got published for the first time last year. I’m interested for sure. I kind of wish they were resurrecting the never made Frank Darabont mini series.

From what I’ve recently been told, The Thing 1982 is likely a case of the rights going to the estate of the writer. Kind of like Nightmare On Elm Street.

The Darabont series definitely still stings I'm cautiously optimistic about this too, the new Halloween was awesome so fingers crossed! Maybe if it does well some gears can start turning on getting The Thing rights

Perhaps, and I'd love to see that happen. It would probably be more tempting for companies to make a harder push if the film included likeness rights. You'd have to negotiate those along with the film license. Nothing stays in limbo forever. Eventually the timing and money will be right.

I liked the movie.
I'd recommend watching the original.

No Angela figure?
Frank Darabont version of The Thing?

I never picked up the Angela figure, so didn't have it for the gallery.

In 2005, Syfy Channel hired Frank Darabont to write a mini-series that would be a direct sequel to John Carpenter's The Thing. Was supposed to be 5 episodes I believe. Was about a Russian government scientist who discovers the remains of the US Antarctic Camp, and collects samples of the creature. Want to turn it into a bioweapon, but project is shut down. 30 years later, a sample is stolen and being flown to US. Plane crashes in New Mexico outside of a small town. US sets u pa quarantien zone, but doesn't find out what it is until too late, and most of town is infected. All hell breaks loose with US soldiers battling an army of Things.

Scripts were done. But show was going to be expensive, and too violent (this was before Walking Dead showed how much you could get away with). Universal eventually pulled the plug in favor of a theatrical film, which became the prequel.reboot from 2011.

The scripts are pretty easy to find. They're a really fun read, and it sounds like it would have been crazy and fun. But definitely would have cost some serious cash in later episodes.

To be honest, I forgot there even was an Angela figure.
So my question was more of a "why is there no Angela?" than a "Why the HELL don't you have Angela, Joe?"

I bet that Thing series would have been good.
I think the 2011 prequel is actually decent.
The main problem is that if you have seen the original then there is no suspense in the prequel -at all.
But if you watch the prequel and you haven't seen the original, then you ruin the suspense of the original and that is a crime against humanity.

Not a fan of the movie. So didn't order the Blu-Ray set that included Angela. This set was sent along with other items for review. Otherwise, I don't think I would have ordered it.
