Here's my MU Moon Knight custom-
I thought the MU version was pretty weak for a favorite of mine so I made a new one from the new MU buck used for Cyclops and Steve Rogers.
Parts used:
Head: MU Black Panther (ears sanded off)
Cowl: 25th anniversary Zartan figure, glued to the top of the BK head so it can turn and pivot.
Body: Steve Rogers
Bracers: ROC Storm shadow with cut styrene for the fronts of the shin bracers.
Cape and belt from the MU Moonie, gun is Rogers and the staff is from Gambit.
Custom chest decal by me!

Comparison with th old version:

As always, critique, comments and adoration are always welcomed (and cash! And pretty women!)

I like the boots, gauntlets, and hood the best.

That Zartan hood really mkaes the figure to me- having it as a seperate piece sells the look.
And I never realised how...dingy...the Mu version looks before seeing the shock white of the Krylon Fusion spray paint (that stuff works perfectly on plastics and dries great- no tackiness!).

I got a second set of those gauntlets for the Shocker- they just need some slight mod to be perfect..

Really, you could make your own MK pretty easy- nothing special like sculpting was required, just kit-bashing parts.

The Shroud is going to be even easier- just a head with mask, dark grey and black paint and that's it, baby!

I might even try a Cloak!

HEY GUYS: How do I add the little pic to the thread as it displays on the forum? all I get is "No Thumb Attached".

Does the Krylon Fusion dry smooth, and how does it wear when played with?

Krylon is all I use for my whites, as well as to prime most of my customs. Dries extremely smooth, but playability is low unless you do very light multiple coats while moving joints between each coat.

Nice take on MK btw.

Praise from the master, Symbiote! Thanks! You too, GR!

Classified, the Krylon dries smooth and plays great too- as GR said- light coats. The nozzle on Krylon cans sprays a nice flat vertical arc for spraying back and forth, instead of the cone most sprays have.
Heat up the can for a few minutes after shaking in hot (not boiling!) water, then shake again for a finer spray mist.

For rubber parts, like Steve's boot thingies, coat them with Tempra paint (super cheap egg based paint) first. The Krylon will adhere to the tempra and dry- without the tempra, painted rubber never dries.

Get black tempra- a quart of the stuff is like two bucks.

Always remember to wash the hell out of a figure before starting- there is release agents from the molds and oils from your hands that can make painting a bitch if not washed off first!

I'm thinking of spray painting some vehicles.

My guess is Krylon Fusion will accomplish this quite well.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Very cool, Jason. It's so hard to do a good job with white paint, and you pulled it off. It's still blowing my mind how shrimpy he makes the old MK look.

Currently MK and all the Secret Avengers are useing these custom tranqilizer guns- they're boxy (as easy for artists to draw, I guess) so it fits....and in his own series he's been useing these crescent dart shooters that are boxy guns- they just fire Lucky Charms shapes insteda of bullets.

I'll make up some crecent darts and snap some more pics- those STeve Rogers hands were made to hold guns though! just putting the staff in his hand was a total bitch!

The white is just a couple of coats of Krylon Fusion- really cant say enough about that stuff.
the size though shows the scale creep towards 4" that Mu has been doing.
Makes for great figures but MK is bigger than Bleeding edge Iron Man!
(shrugs)
Still looks awesome next to my custom Black Knight or Showdown Thor! And perfect next to Hawkeye!

This custom is very impressive, you should really try to make a few more and sell them to people looking for a better version of Moon Knight. The quality is top notch!

So nice! The original looks like a kid trick or treating as Moon Knight next to yours!

The white is indeed very smooth. I've always had good luck with using Colorbond spray paint for vinyl as my primer. You literally cannot scratch it off with your fingernail. Then I tend to airbrush "solid" colored figures then detail with brushes.
