I'm so grateful to see these new figures. I really enjoyed the Netflix series and am happy they produced figures based on the show, but in all honesty I waned to see a new treatment of the figures I grew up with. And that is precisely what they produced.

Really hope we get a cool Clawful figure in this line. Seeing as Masterverse seems to be branching away a but from Revelations I really hope they do some figs based on the 2002 cartoon series, some of those character designs were pretty cool

Just saw over on the official MOTU Twitter account that they have announced a Masterverse Two-Bad figure

Aye, i saw that too but I wasn't sure where to tell folk about it on here, but you found a good place, aye. lol. The figure looks ace. Best Two-Bad I've ever seen anyways. I expect it's part of New Eternia with all that detail and accessories and such. Head sculpts look good too.
Speaking of head sculpts, my mate just did a comparison of the New Eternia Beast Man custom head sculpt by HordakMX (left in the photo below) with the Mattel one (on the right) and blimey, I really like the custom one. There's a lot more rage going on. lol. Might have to order me one of those heads when that Beast Man comes out here in England. He's also done a Revelation version where it's the lower jaw that has the bigger teeth rather than the upper jaw so you can have NE Beast Man also fill-in as Revelation Beast Man from episode 1 of the show too. Ace! The customiser HordakMX who makes and sell these heads can be found at https://www.instagram.com/hordakmx/ From what my mate tells me, who has ordered from HordakMX on three separate occassions and been very happy with all his purchases, heads are usually $20 or $25 each (apparently it's the open mouthed heads that cost the extra $5) and come all nicely painted and such. So that sounds like a pretty good deal for such well done and pre-painted heads. I have the (closed mouth) ones for Rev Skelly and He-Man and aye I'm very pleased with them too. They are far more accurate to the cartoon than the mattel heads are. Last edited by EternianJerkian; 08-02-2022 at 12:10 PM.. |

Wow they are really nice head sculpts, especially Skeletor and Tesla, a lot more accurate to the cartoon than the actual original figures as you said. I’ll be honest Masterverse has been hit and miss for me, I’m sticking with it because it has so much potential, but they could maybe put a little mor effort in, I have the classic gripes of Rev He-Man’s goofy face and Rev Skeletor looking like he’s spent too long on a sun bed, you shouldn’t be messing up the franchises two main characters in the first offering like that, but 40th anniversary He-Man looks great, so I’m gonna stick it out with this line for now.
Rev Skeletor's an odd one because my mate's one had so much blackwashing on his face you'd think he'd been cleaning out his chimney but my one has no wash on it at all. Completely clean like he's had a good shower. I used a fineliner pen to outline his teeth and he looked pretty good but I still went and ordered a HordakMX custom head after I saw how ace it looked on my mate's Skelly. lol. But aye, Masterverse is both his and mine (and my kid's) fave toyline at present and there ain't a whole lot else either of us collect. He did start GI Joe Classified but decided he weren't into it that much and I've yet to decide on those myself as I ain't got any yet but I was a big Joe fan in the 80s. Even as far back as when it was Action Force before it full Joe. lol. And neither of us are much into DC McFarlane or Marvel Legends or Star Wars or any of that but aye, we got super hyped over Two-Bad earlier today like we were kids again. lol. I dunno. |

I have to admit I don't really like the 40th Anniversary He-Man much because I've never really cared for the traditional He-Man face. Like my best mate said, he's a bit of an ugly bastard lol. Both of us wish we'd got the SDCC two pack though even just for the Skeletor with the movable jaw. Plus those die-cast weapons and armour look ace.

Might be worth holding out, that worked in my favour here in the UK, I hesitated at first on Masterverse line, then Forbidden Planet had Wave 1 and 2 on sale for £10 each, so about $12, i lapped them up, there is also a store here in the U.K. that currently has Revelations Skeletor on sale for the equivalant of 6 of your American dollars

Haha that is true, original face He-Man isn’t the most handsome chap. What I would love more than anything for He-Man is a 7” line based directly on the filmation cartoon but they actually look like the cartoon, I must sound like the biggest Neca fan boy because I go on about them so much

Aye well I hope that happens for you some day. I'm not a big fan of the Filmation style or NECA myself. lol. I do think their TMNT line is attractive on the shelf but I've been burned one too many times by that company with fragile figures and big price hikes and the trashy new 'Ultimate' RoboCop that just uses the same old body they've used like ten times already with zero improvements when it's NEEDED better articulation ever since the first one. lol. Super 7 did some Filmation versions of the MotU Classics a few years ago but probably real expensive now for you to get. They were about £50 each when new like the rest of their Ultimates.

Aye, I think Super 7 are overpriced too. I dunno how people can afford to collect the ThunderCats line (£500 for the tank too? Looks great but blimey that's a lot) and other Super 7 lines on top too. 20 figures set you back a grand? Nah.
Oh that reminds me, my mate told me when he was in cambridge last week they had Slithe down to £29.99 in Forbidden Planet which seems a much fairer price but aye dunno how long that lasts and you'll be lucky as heck to find many others in the line go down that far. You actually already inspired me to visit Forbidden Planet when I saw you post the pics of the G.I Joes you got at mega cheap prices, it’s a line I’ve only admired from afar up to now, but at those prices I may jump in, and with this latest revelation of cheaper Thundercats I’m definitely gonna visit my nearest one soon

That $55 price point is quite the drain for buying multi-figure waves at a time and pretty much kills casual purchases too. I'd love to go all in on their GI Joe and Silverhawks lines but I'm mindful of reality with both $ and space. In fact, I'm thinking I will get out for good after wave 6 and both versions of Mon-Star. Hopefully no must have figure gets announced from now until then...like T-Ray from Tigersharks. |

Even with thundercats wave 5 being the most solid wave so far, I would still say these are overpriced for what you get.

I’m currently lucky enough to be in a position where I can comfortably afford to make a big purchase on a toy line, I’m split three ways, overpay on a Thundertank, something I really want but like all Super7 stuff, I think is overpriced, overpay on the secondary market for a Neca TMNT party wagon, or back Haslabs Hisstank, the Hisstank is winning so far, it’s the cheapest and after hitting all the tiers comes with 4 figures

Seeing the HISS Tank made me glad I stayed away from Classified. I think a lot of the figures look great, but I have been actively avoiding as many new lines as possible. I skipped MOTU Origins. They looked fun, but I used the excuse of not being able to get that first SDCC two-pack. Knock on wood Masterverse, been able to get the exclusives at least (though currently stretched thin).

I guess that’s the price you pay for a highly articulated 6 inch figure line, it’s definitely expensive, but they have far surpassed the total needed to unlock all tiers on the project, plus you could look at it as with the added value of 4 exclusive figures, it’s probably closer to the £200 mark for the Hisstank itself, I think out of all the three vehicles i previously mentioned, the Hisstank probably gives you more bang for your buck.
