Hmm I don't think its as bad as people are making it out to be. The real shipping cost is not what they are charging people. I used to work for a drop ship vendor for furniture and trinkets and the real cost of sending something that big to a single person is far more than the company is charging. When they start doing flat rates across the board the real international fees are way more than people are willing to swallow. I agree it may not look fair. And some may not be. But I think for the most part if you know anything about carrier costs for large boxes you would understand the cost. Ignorance is frustrating. I bought an item from Italy once and the shipping was ridiculous. Cost more than the product.

At the risk of sounding patronising, I really do know what I’m talking about here, trust me, Mattel are taking the piss when it comes to international orders with this item. |

Ignorance is frustrating you’re right. I currently work in shipping, I’m about to head to work and ship stuff all day, I sent to America all the time, it can be expensive, companies can usually negotiate rates with couriers, and a big company like Mattel has a lot of negotiating power, I work for a fairly small company and with our rates this would be £150 tops, so should be what, around £600, saying it would be £200 shipping is being generous to them, and even then we are only at £650. The fact that they are charging £9 shipping here suggests they plan on bulk importing all units needed for the U.K. (massive savings over sending 1 unit to each individual international address), and then charge us £9 to get it from wherever it landed in the U.K. to our homes, the company I work for can currently send any size package within the U.K. for £6.50.

Nah your fine..not 100% right but based on your job sounds like you have a good idea. So as I said before not all of the charges for overseas shipping are correct. But for some of it may be. Am I excusing Mattel, NOPE. Its just not as bad as people are making it out to be...for some. For others the price can be laughable.
I’m assuming this is being made in the US or in their facility in Mexico, hence why US customers aren’t paying that hefty price increase. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s getting harder and harder to be a collector and live in the U.K. |

Well 6:30 am on the east coast and it’s at 3,039 backers or 60% of the way to being funded. If I had to guess, it may hit 5,000 as early as end of day on Friday.

Without knowing how they are being sent (more than likely Mattel will send them to their distribution hubs in individual countries) any guess on actual shipping costs is just that, a guess. When I go to checkout, with shipping and tax the grand total is $1222.10 delivered. It is a neat and cool throwback item, but not $1200 worth.

Apparently, if you reload the creations page a ton of times, a third tier shows at 12,000. I can’t see it personally, so could be a fake, but it’s floating round out there. Just about 70 percent of the way there. I moved things around and I’m buying in on Monday. |

I think so. Even though creations is a pain to get figures from, it’s a sign that this can go online if needed. Retail stores are tough. I’d imagine snake mountain would not be happening if there was no retail support. So it’s good for another year anyway.
I just want the vintage figures complete, and movie figures we should have gotten. Anything else is icing. Plus we really need some of the more obscure vehicles released. |

70%, again, it'll fund just fine at least for initial tier. Saw the supposed bonus unlock on my He-Man forum, I think some definite doubt it's legit. But the hypothesis that the barely visible bonus unlock image was a Sharella figure looked that way to me too. Again, no real reason to think it's real, but would be cool if it was.
Anybody else here actually place a preorder yet? |

So essentially they are charging an extra £250 for import fees and international shipping. I’d be interested to see what the final numbers are and just where in the world the most backers are from, and what the disparity is with the rest of the world. I’m not backing this, but if I was an origins guy I’d definitely feel like I was being shafted just because I live in the U.K. |

3,761 or 75% funded. I thought it could fund by sunday night, but it looks to at least be around 4,000 by then.

It's slowed down a bit over the last 2 days, but initial FOMO should kick in by Monday night or Tuesday to push it past 5000 so that everyone already backing it gets King Grayskull

80%! 4,003 backers.
Once the barge (which also needed 5,000 backers) hit 4,000….it really started taking off. |

Sorry, not trying to talk to myself here…..lol.
I did back this Sunday night. Thanks to my wife for jumping in with me. I know this is a lot, but this literally checks off the last box I had for toy needs. I could buy nothing else for life and be very content with the toy collection I have, |

I could buy nothing else for life and be very content with the toy collection I have, 4284 backers so far, although I’ve previously said I think it’s a tad expensive for international customers, I really really hope this thing makes it, and it looks like it will do and then some. I want it made because anything MOTU that’s a success can only mean more MOTU stuff. It’s a really cool set and I’m happy for collectors to get their hands on this, especially those that coveted it bad when they were kids but never got their hands on one. More than anything though, I think I want it backed for the awkward atmosphere it’s gonna create over at Hasbro HQ. |

90% funded at 4521. It's doing pretty well with 23 days remaining.
While one can't just say they'll get the last 500 easy. It's looking pretty likely. Once it funds, it becomes a preorder. That's when the fun begins. |

Really happy it's doing so well. Hopefully it means a lot more origins figures to come in the future.
10/19 is when the early bird figure ends. We have 24 hours to decide...I don't have space! Buying those three figures seperately on the after market will probably be the same as the whole damn set! Is anyone else tortured by this?? lol |

^ I think a lot of people bought Jabba's Barge just because they figured the carded Yakface it comes with would cost just as much as the Barge itself later on. They were right initially, but don't know how prices have settled down since.
I was watching a toy hunt vid on youtube at Retro Con in Philly I think it was last month and someone there had a new in box vintage Eternia playset for 5 grand... like damn... that is twice as expensive as a new Flagg I think. |

5033 as of this post. It's funded now which means it's in preorder mode essentially.

Very exciting. On to the stretch goals and a year and a half of planning on a spot for this. |

Well yeah. Lol. One is clear value for the money and one is a blatant disregard for marvel fans and a clear indication that hasbro thinks and continues to believe marvel fans are idiots and will consume the MCU garbage they produce no matter what they look like, are based on, how they are presented at retail (packaging) and cost.
