Well, for anyone who has any interest in the Classics Optikk action figure and (of course) haven't owned one yet. Now would be a good time to pick it up.
Past Generation Toys have him on sale for $16.95 and through Amazon as well. Hmmm....... tempting. How is this figure? He's from the New Adventures, right?

Here's a review from one the sites I usually frequent: OAFE - MotU Classics: Optikk review Gives a lot backstory also. I personally really like Optikk for reasons unknown to myself even, but "interchangeable eyeballs" sort of struck something with me - dunno. ![]() |

Good post. Optikk isn't a must have for me or anything, but for $3 less than original cost, and no shipping fees? ...pfff. Ordered.

aaahhhhhh.... I'm sooooooo tempted now. I read that review and he looks pretty awesome. Damn it! I said I was only going for the classic villains, but Optikk looks so cool and the price is right.

Got my Optikk two days ago, along with my DCU Swamp Thing (w/ Un-Men) yesterday!
And in my opinion, I think he's a fantastic figure even if no one likes the New Adventures (we all should just skip over the origins of these things and appreciate the figure itself). I'm especially lovin' the paint apps and the little (even if somewhat pointless) thing they did with the ab crunch area, and of course the cool eye(s) - I like how the cornea's transparent and all, but the little squiggly lines around it kinda look "cheap" in comparison to the rest of the paint on the figure. And I'm slightly disappointed that there was no eyeball turning feature on this like they mentioned in that review, because for some reason I always find my fingers touching that dial on the back whenever I hold it and realize it doesn't move. Well, I guess the ball joint is a decent trade-off. Oh, and oddly enough, the eyeball(s) happens to fit nice and snug on on the center of Optikk's shield. My only gripe are his thigh/lower torso joint areas - his legs are sort of hindered by that weird "hidden loincloth" crotch thing he's got goin' on down there. It's not like my word means much, but I do recommend this figure to anyone who even has the slightest interest in the character or MOTUC - or interchangeable eyeballs! As for my Swamp Thing, overall, I like it a lot. But it's made me realize how much I miss swivel joints. And the first time I utilized its ab crunch I popped two tiny holes in the rubber near his stomach - the air had no where to escape to! I actually heard minor "hissing" sounds. They're not that noticeable, due to the "porous" looking texture of his entire sculpt. But jeez, I was being as careful as I could.... I honestly think that the Movie Masters Naut Ke (Kei) Loi figure did a much better job with endoskeletal articulation. I've had a few more miniscule tears and such with Swampy's arms and legs, but again, they're hardly noticeable. And apparently people are complaining about him being "slimy"? That's absolutely not the case, he just has a slight tacky-to-the-touch feel about him - a lot more so on his brown vine growths and fungal objects than the green areas. Why people feel they have to exaggerate these things? I don't know. Also the box was unexpectedly huge! Sorry for inserting the totally unrelated Swamp Thing part, but I just thought I'd put it in there since I got both figures at about the same time. ![]() Last edited by KshatriyaNZ666; 08-12-2011 at 12:34 PM.. |
