I get what you guys are saying, and with that in mind, we should try to expand the idea so that we are not just giving away the MU figures that we obviously collect. Call me naive, but my first contributions to this idea will be the aforementioned stuffed Marvel characters, and a collection of DC figures that mostly revolve around Batman. I would love it if we could expand this idea for the sake of spreading a little kindness and good fortune toward the children in our communities, because without our childhoods, we wouldn't be collecting this stuff today. If you want to buy some pegwarmers and give them away than thank you, but if you want to take it a step further and just donate whatever you can whenever you can than thank you +++. It is a good idea, for a good cause, and it will make you feel better about collecting. Just do it!

Yeah I'm seeing to it that I will send things around especially cause the pegwarmers are characters that people will like since they're well known

I am taking these guys to the St. Louis Childrens Hospital as soon as possible, along with a bunch of MU and an assortment of DC stuff.

Children in ALL of our cities need some reassurance that someone out there cares about them. Regardless of your own intentions, I have personally spoken to organizations that are purely focused on helping young kids get a piece of what we are collecting in our spare time, and I would love to get some back up on this idea. Today I spent what I could on discount stuff like How To Train Your Dragon figures, coloring books for both Tinkerbell and Marvel Supes, and a slew of other stuff to hook up our youth in need. Please don't make me be the only one.

I wish Hasbro would take this seriously and either donate a dollar from every figure to donate to toys for tots, or something like for every 5 figures bought 1 gets donated.

?

Seems as though everyone suddenly forgot how to be nice, and decided to bail on this idea. If that is so, than I'm very disappointed in the members of this forum.

I think that this is an amazing idea!

It's nice that you're working towards solving a problem but in that effort you guys have stumbled upon a greater purpose. A lot of charities or efforts that bring about positive or helpful results are stumbled upon totally by accident. Thats the beauty of it. it shows that in life you can, when open to the idea find ways to help in the most unexpected ways. The point isn't to pick it apart, come up with reasons why it wont work, or thank to much about the original selfish intent. The point is to just see what opportunity is right there in front of you and to go for it.

So no mater where this thread goes, I say on an individual basis those of you who like the idea and can afford it, do it.

So because of Nexodusrex and his great idea, I'm going to start picking up extra Spidey figures while out on hunts. Now I can only afford to do this so much considering I'm broke as a joke. But a few kids here and there will be getting a little Webhead to play with.

And I like the idea of picking up a character specific comic to accompany the figure.

When I was a kid, around 5-7 I really liked comic figures Superman, Batman and Robin Spider-man, and Aqua-man. But it wasn't until I was 9-10 years old that I started actually getting and reading comics, and it was that accompanied by the toys that really solidified my love for both comics and the toys that shared their likeness. The combination of having that toy to to play with but then a context to accompany it opened a whole new world.

And I've been living in that world ever-since.

I've done this a few times since, but just didn't feel like posting. Bought my lil cousin and his friends some MU figures and got them starting to collect, pretty good feeling.

My sister-in-law volunteered one year for Toy for Tots, she said the lady in charge was taking all the good stuff for her own kids. She said she will never volunteer for that again.

I'm in. I don't have a lot of dough, but I love helping people and I tried to do this back at christmas with Iron Man II toys. I'll start grabbing peg warmers from time to time when I can afford it and hang on to em for the Christmas donation bins. Most kids would like an Iron Man or Wolverine, and even stuff like Aim Soldiers and Red Hand Ninjas, which I know are the main shelfchockers around here...

It's a good idea.

Yeah, I'm sure that is why I haven't heard anything from some of you. I see several of you brag on a daily basis about the money you spend on yourselves, but little is to be shared about doing anything nice for others. Also, if you are referencing my previous comments about donating stuff than you just don't get it; there are kids out there that deserve something nice during such bleak times. I was just hoping for more generosity from this community of collectors, and I understand if some of you (Saint Phe) don't give a damn. Good luck with that.

Kids seem to appreciate this kind of stuff now more than ever.

That is really nice of you. Most of us don't have a lot of money, but it is great that you still at least try to put a smile on someone's face.

I'm glad that you took the time to hook up a little kid and gave them some figures and a way for them to utilize their imagination. That kid will probably turn into a comic lover just like the rest of us.

At least you care. It isn't about doing something specific like that, and if I gave off the impression that I expected that from the rest of you than I apologize. I merely hoped that as much enthusiasm would go into spreading the same joy we receive from these figures to the kids out there that can't afford them, or haven't been lucky enough to own a few.

Announcing an awesome toy that you bought for yourself is totally different from being sanctimonious. I'm sure that probably every person in this thread is caring and charitable and has participated in this endeavour. This is a user created thread on a toy forum about giving toys to children who might need them, and it's gotten a positive response from everybody but you. There's no need for you to be questioning people's motivations, how much they've given, or repeatedly telling us what an awesome guy you are.

Despite what you think, I just wanted to encourage a few strangers to do something nice, and if that bothers you oh well. And I know I'm awesome, I don't need your feedback to figure that one out.
