hello all
hope is well
I came across these figures and thought about reading the description it said the following" PRE-ORDER DUE OCTOBER 2011 - Nick Fury fully articulated and ready for battle - these exclusive Marvel Legends figures will not be available at UK retail so grab them whilst you can - not suitable for persons under 16 years of age." now what i have highlighted in bold seems to be going to far , i would give this to my kid if he was 5-10 maybe lower and watch him when he plays with them. what do you think ? (i dont have kids yet , it something i would do )

Scratching my head why this is a thread but here goes....are you sure that is Hasbro's description or the websites description? I doubt they will list it as 16+ unless Nick Fury is going to have an actual member under his pants or comes with some Hustler magazines as an accessory with his cigar.

Yeah I'd like to see a link...it would be weird if hasbro started doing this with the Legends figures. I don't see Disney allowing it though considering how frackin kid friendly that company is. Oh yes folks, I'm worried about Marvel because of Disney owning them. What an evil corporation. lol

It's boilerplate. BBTS has the same exact notice. It's on every single product on the site. The reasoning being that they sell a lot of toys that aren't suitable for children, so they just slap that warning on every page instead of checking what's what. For instance, do Venture Bros figures count as child appropriate even though the show might not be? Are Family Guy figures appropriate for children? And that's not even considering the statues with actual nudity, or just from R rated movies.

A lot of collector stores do this to avoid complaints from parents who might not be aware that certain toys are from very adult oriented properties. It's easier than personally vetting each product, since most people will know that a Marvel comics figure is child appropriate, and won't worry about the warning.

That said, some of these figures really are designed for adult collectors, and can't take heavy play like a 6-year old might give em. Captain America can take repeated 'flying' tests. Mezco Hellboy? Not so much.

Actually, the warnings are due to the safety laws and regulations that sprung up after the lead-paint scares from china. If I recall correctly, it's actually illegal for resellers to sell toys made prior to...2008, I think...unless they're marked as an "Adult collectible" or otherwise noted as being for "older kids."

So the warning is just an easy way around that.

Wow, really? I had no idea that was the reason behind it. You'd think then there'd be a warning that the toys could contain toxic cancerous materials. Just weird to me.

Try telling China that, Lead based paint is out of the hands of retail consumption and in the use of major paints. But china is all about being cheap, and cutting costs, so cheaper paint and dyes are used, hence low QC. A lot of times when a toy is on recall it's either for questionable paint used or faulty parts. I can see that the figures are targeted to an older crowd, but smaller kids should be able to play with them, just not 2 small, no body needs a baby choking on an accessory. Plus it's a toy it's not like a cd/video game that most sales clerks will ask ID for. it's not sold behind a display case, it's on a peg or shelf so chances are tons of people under 16 are going to buy them.

There's a pic on Kapow's site (link is above). It's the Walmart exclusive 6" Nick Fury (Movie series).
