....because I can.

Much like my scientifically researched Spiderman analytical review from last year, I, out of sheer boredom while roaming Target trying to find the latest Transformers(WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN), came across the new Thor figures. Here is a carefully and very tediously prepared, yet swiftly and incredibly accurate, review/deep insight:
  • Hey look I can't find Odin/Loki just saying...
  • Hammer is made of very soft material
  • That Electronic Thor will sell as much as that Repulsor Iron Man. You know math right?...
  • Light up Hammer Thor is already a shelfwarmer
  • The Deluxes do better than Iron Man and Cap being that the figures retain full articulation
  • That Frost Giant...like Sabretooth...may be the best figure in the line(HAHA remember how Sabretooth was the best figure in XMO Wolverine...yet the line wasn't mainly about him?)
  • Damn I found like nearly 20 Thor figures today...LITERALLY THEY WERE ALL THOR
  • Should I be surprised? Okay maybe not..same deal with Iron Man. Oh and all of you who found the later waves and drones and stuff...yeah I NEVER FOUND THE DRONES. So if you found them high 5.
  • These look like XMO Wolverine figures with regards to paint apps...Iron Man..at least most of the figures...had better paint apps than XMO.
  • Quite honestly, I have no intent at buying any of these figures
  • Yet I saw them and decided to post about them
  • You're reading this
  • The Frost Giant looked alright but does not change my mind
  • On second thought...maybe I'll buy Destroyer...and MAYBE Odin
  • Wait that's right I DIDN'T SEE ODIN
  • Not that I was actively looking but double checked anyways
  • I think Cap will be a better line but will suffer the same problem
  • Damn those gimmick weapons are huge
  • Not 1 Thor figure I saw today had that helmet

Shouldn't this be in the reviews and feedback board?

on a side note...

Symbiote and I went hunting at our local TRU a few days ago, and when we came across this line (of which all the above bullet points I can substantiate) there was an employee who was trying to get us to put on the Thor Role Playing helmet.

He kept saying that we couldn't leave without doing it, to which I joked that if the role playing Thor Hammer wasn't so damn soft and crappy I would smite thee, and then he proceeded to tell us that he named his first born son "Asgard, Thor" and therefore felt obligated to purchase this line for his kid.

Looks like someone will be buying this line at least.

BTW, in case you missed that, yeaaaah...his son's first and middle names are "Asgard" and "Thor" respectively. He better grow up to be a huge football player, wrestler or something.

I don't quote get what you're trying to point out.

Quote:

Er, my Iron Man deluxe figures have the same articulation as the single carded figures. The Cap deluxe figures are full articulated as well.

I think this is completely wrong. I've seen them in multiple stores (and own the whole first wave). The paint apps are fine.

Damn those gimmick weapons are huge
They look cool but that's my biggest complaint about the line: the hands are so fucking rubbery that they won't grasp any of the large weapons. Plus, Hasbro got rid of the stands so it's annoying to stand them up (Odin is a bitch).

That's because out of the three Thor figures in wave 1, none of them have a helmet. :P You won't see that until wave 2.

I want to try bullet points too.
  • That soft hammer is Nerf. It may well be the greatest toy ever made.
  • The over-sized weapons are ridiculous, and they don't work very well.
  • Odin looks like he should be a biker. Loki looks like he should be played by Alan Cumming.
  • Some kid went through ToysRus and snapped role-play "helmets" on all of the leftover figures. They looked nicer that way.
  • All of the Thor figures look so much alike, it's like Iron Man toys with Thor heads.

I like the bullet points.

My one point is that the only differences between the Frost Giant @ $8 and the Deluxe Frost Giant @ $13 were:
- $5...duh
- the deluxe is darker
- the deluxe has a spring loaded shooter
- has 1 more weapon (some kind of ice axe-ish looking thing)

That's pretty much it.

the light up thor's led is orange. just like the iron man mk VI. kinda surprised that that hasbro keeps putting orange where it would look WAY better as blue. lightning = blue, arc reactor = blue. it's not hard.

oh i bought one of the figures just to turn it into a different character (hint- whips friendly).
they look pretty cool and have all the standard articulation, nothing spectacular and will fit in perfectly with the rest of 3.75" marvel lines.

My review is they suck because there isn't a comic series. I'll buy a Destroyer and maybe an Odin.

I've only seen two single pack Thor figures so far (both Thor, natch) and they looked ok, but not enough for me to pull the trigger. Maybe when they go on sale.

I am very tempted by both the Nerf and Electronic Mjolnir toys, though. The Nerf version because I can smite things around the house without regret and the electronic one to "call down the lightning."

Maybe once I actually find Odin, Loki and the Frost Giant, I can comment on them too.

I've seen these figures too, and while I think the basic Thor and Loki figures looks really good, everything else is just awful. I haven't seen the Destroyer, but I've seen everything else and they just blow.

Blue LEDs cost more than Orange LEDs. They can use that extra $5k to make sure Ghost Rider gets an SUV repaint when his movie comes out.

Yep, I would agree.

I've picked up the "basic" Thor, Loki, and the Frost Giant. Skipping Odin until the (likely) helmeted version in a later wave. Looking forward to the Destroyer.

Loki and Thor aren't bad at all, they're just kinda...meh. Will definitely pick up the helmeted versions later, as well as the supporting characters. Hopefully we get a couple more waves so at least a few comic-inspired figures can pepper in.

I bought the vanilla Thor about two weeks ago, and I think he's a pretty decent figure. The arms kind of puff out because of the torso, but other than that the only other complaint iI have is the soft hands. I can't get him to grip Mjolnir at the right point.

Overall, a decent line. I'll wait for the superior Cap line, though.
