I blame Hasbro.

You can't really blame Hasbro for what TRU wants to charge us. Hasbro can only suggest a retail price, not enforce it.

Yeah, the three other posts with pics kinda helped, too.

Why did Hasbro make the packaging different? If the packaging was the same for the 3 sets they would be the same price.

It won't stop me from getting them though.

Thanks for the new info, I'll try that SKN tomorrow. Shame that the other pack is $29.99... I'm going to buy it even if overpriced since I skipped on SS and DD and I do like that Iron Man repaint in there.

Not necessarily. I've seen retailers do some screwy things with exclusives over the years, even ones that have similar packaging or contents.

Granted, the shiny packaging may have given TRU the idea to charge more for the Marvel Heroes set.

I found the army builder pack at my local TRU, they had 2. Unfortunately I was short about 21 cents =(, I had to settle for The Thing and Classic Iron Man.

Sucks, don't it?

That's the dilema with an exclusive: price versus availability. Almost always more expensive that their regular release brethren, yet only one way to get it.

So we as collectors always face the same question: do I get it now and pay the (arguably) inflated price or do I wait and hope to get one should it go on sale or clearance?

(Or wait for Target's data entry team to screw up a sale price?)

But wait, aren't all the 3-packs released so far TRU exclusives? What makes the DD,SS,IM pack so special? Foil packaging? C'mon. There's absolutely no reason for it to be more.

Anyways, the shelf label had a 6-digit number, so this might be the SKN: 873325

And lo-and-behold...I go in today, and someone pushed both packs together into one facing, and it had the $22 price tag. I fixed it, of course. Dumb asses.

I found the Spidey pack and Troop Builder in the Owings Mills, MD TRU and then a glut of them in the New Castle, DE TRU (picked up 6 troops builders). Also the Iron Man Adventures are out too. Not a lot of articulation but they look great, like Iron Lad from Young Avengers (even the unmasked Iron Man looks like the kid, no mustache).

Good news - the Spidey and Henchmen packs are online now w/ free shipping! Sure beats the hell out of looking for them locally:

Spidey set:

Exclusive Marvel Universe 3.75 Inch Action Figure - Hasbro - Toys "R" Us

Henchmen:

Exclusive Marvel Universe 3.75 Inch Action Figure - Hasbro - Toys "R" Us

But no damn SS pack for me which I still cant find!

Free shipping should seal the deal if you guys dont want to look for them!

I found these all at TRU today, but they were out of my price range. I didn't realize the Silver Surfer pack was the 70th one. $30 is friggin ridiculous...

Didn't see them at TRU today.

Looks like the Henchmen set is already sold-out on TRU's website. Army builders must have found the listing as well. I think it's hilarious that the neither of the online listings have any pics, nor do they say what's in each set.

They also have preorders up for the Secret Wars 2-packs, shipping August 9th.

Ha. When I really thought about it, I realized that I'm not planning on getting multiples of the army builder and I really only wanted the Hydra Agent.. So I don't feel too bad about passing. However, I am a little sad that I won't be getting that Stealth Iron Man anytime soon... It looked great and I was really looking forward to getting it.

Because it has a shiny "TRU Exclusive" sticker on it, apparently.

That's total BS. I really do want that set with the Yellow Dare Devil but I guess I will have to not purchase something else in order to balance my money.
