Thursday morning opening = newly stocked shelves. Same goes for Saturday morning. This has been my experience with TRU in my area, but I think it is fairly common all around.

I opened up three of my variants tonight and they were all messed up. Daredevil has grey paint all over the back of his head, Warpath's arm won't stay on, and Ms. Marvel's legs look like someone attacked them with a hot wire at the factory.

Is anyone else having problems like this, or am I having an abnormally bad run of luck?

Like everyone said, Thursday mornings at TRU increases your chances of getting good stuff. Unfortunately almost everyone knows about it, specially the scalpers. The only reason I was able to snag the variants was because the lady was nice enough to pull out another box as the pegs were empty. She said 2 guys came in and bought everything that was out. So I have those 2 scalpers to thank for clearing up space.

I had to return both my DD and warpath variants for bad QC. Bad paint apps I can live with, even loose joints I can fix. But when the damn things won't stay on together, they're going back to target.

Part of the reason you see these figures going up in price is there was a 12% price increase to toy dealers from Hasbro. The MSRP (Suggestest Retail Price) of the Marvel Universe figures was $8.99. A lot of the big box stores (TRU, Target, Wal-mart, etc) were able to sell the figures for less, depending on volume, but usually 6.99 to 8.99.

Because of the price increase from Hasbro, they have marked the MSRP of the latter part of Wave 12, as well as Wave 13 and 14 (these are pre-ordered, and are release in April and May), they have told us the MSRP is now $12.49.

That's a huge jump, and it means that some retailers are not ordering new cases. Toy sellers don't have to charge MSRP, of course, but many do set the price of Marvel Universe figures at that as a base (and then charge a premium for rares and variants).

Having a small toy store, I'll never compete with Target or Wal-mart on price...but you also won't come to my shop and find 12 Stealth Ops Iron Man and 15 Captain Americas as the only selections on the peg.
Interesting info about the increased MSRP, but I'd hazard a guess and say you didn't pay $12.49 a figure or $149.88 per case, though I'm sure the wholesale cost went up too.

And some people seem to forget that the S in MSRP stands for Suggested. There is no iron clad deal that says all retailers must sell them at that price. Retailers are free to charge as much or as little as they want.

In my area, I've seen both Walmart and Target drop their prices on MU figures back to $7.99 after being at $8.99 for a few months. Do I expect another price increase in the future? Probably. But I don't expect it to stay that way, either.

The thing is, you never know. It's always a roll of the dice.

this is true.. sometimes you'll buy a figure in store and find it cheaper online and vise versa... running into rare figures and variants it's first come first serve.. because who knows how rare they'll become or when they'll stock them again.. if you see them retail buy it and savor the awesomeness as you saved $$ on shipping, in some cases exchange rate etc... I try not to buy anything online unless I have 2.. and lately I've kinda cared less about certain waves, atleast to the point of collecting them all... I have a good source on all 3 sdcc figures, want to get those, along with my mu galactus.. after that not 2 worried, get them as they come.

So far I've found the DD dark red variant at Toys R Us and the clear Vision variant at the Disney store. Othere than that I've been beat out by scalpers or other collectors.

Well, at least you found that variant Vision. I think he's one of the most sought-after variants.

Im guessing they roll out Black Widow and Luke Cage at the same time, much like they did Vision, Warpath, etc.

Since we are talking variants. Have there been any reports, rumors and such about what variants to expect out of the last couple of waves that have been released?

Ok...Glossy Rulk and Electro vs. Matte Rulk and Electro. This is frustrating as h*ll.

I own what appears to be 3 "glossy" Rulks, and one glossy Electro. I did recently sell a loose Electro who appears to be a matte finish without a doubt...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...STRK:MESDIX:IT

The one I have MOC is clearly glossy as compared to this pic...SO...in my search for matte MOC for Electro, Ill email sellers, and most don't even know a variant exists! So..is it worth the gamble? Maybe maybe not, but lighting and regular amatuer pics on ebay are so tough to go by. (Thus me owning 3 Rulks. lol)

That's cool, but how about the last two waves that have been released? The Thanos and Captain Marvel waves.
