“They’re just using this as a way to draw some stories to an end and then create a whole lot of issue number ones after [Secret Wars] ends,”

thats exactly what they'll be doing.... which pisses me off because i just got back into the hobby last year and now they're rebooting again ??? BS

Reading the solicits for Secret Wars and all the tie-ins gave me a headache. Sounds like a huge DC multiverse scale mess...

this just simply sings of Marvel's version of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Marvel got too top heavy and now they need to shrink. The reality is they needed to do this years ago and held off. All comic book compaines need to Reboot every generation or so (10 - 25 years) the stories get old and redundant. The good thing is maybe we will get to One Earth.

I despise big crossovers and universe revamps. New 52 was the reason I stopped collecting most DC Comics. And note the persistent theme of WAR. It's remarkable how many figures in my collection are heavily armed and taken from some sort of military context. No social programming there, duh! Titles like "Secret Wars," "Infinite Crisis," "Battleworld," "Last Days," "War Zones" are not particularly uplifting or life-affirming. Just for once, let's see a major crossover with a title like "Flower Power" or "Happy Time." For that, I guess there's always Archie or Looney Tunes or some of the alternative labels, although Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner have a uniquely sadomasochistic relationship, hardly peaceable...

To be fair, Marvel's never really had a clearing-house event before like Crisis. Having said that, it remains to be seen how effective this will be long-term.

Considering that was the third time DC's done a major change in their continuity, I'm curious when you first started reading DC.

Apparently you haven't watched that much Looney Tunes if you think those two are the only sadomasochistic pairing in that series. But to your larger point, using action and drama as the focus for crossover events and reboots is pretty standard for superhero comics.

I'm not saying the medium can't be open to other subjects, though. Just that it's their bread and butter, so to speak.

i've actually been reading the new secret wars, and a few of it's new titles they decided to reinvent for this series event. the story is pretty good, actually alot more entertaining then the whole 8 issues of convergence.

i also purchased a few of the side titles they decided to make

Planet Hulk
Deadpool's secret secret wars
Ultimate End.

these extra SW titles are pretty good as well. definitely 100% different then the original planet hulk, the Deadpool story isn't bad to say the least, and the ultimate end is actually pretty good as well.

im awaiting 1 renew your vows
2 X-men "92
3 ghost racers
4 old man logan

a few others.....

let's see how the rest of this goes.

Ghost Racers looks like one of the dumbest things I've ever seen but I really want to check it out.

I'm just getting back into comics after 25 years or so. I'm pretty impressed with Secret Wars so far. I have no idea what's going on really though. I had no clue the comic universe was split. So is this a way to bring it back to one?

Also where would be the best place to figure out what the hell is planned and what is going on with all of this? Is there an chart or something?

sorry for the late response, i haven't kept tabs on this thread. while i don't want to give too much away in this thread, someone basically did some bad stuff and was able to somehow gain control of everything. since issue 1 of SW it shows he is now the ruler of Battleworld. this villain is now considered a GOD. the whole battleworld is separated into different domains. here you can see a map When Everything Ends, There Is Only Secret Wars | News | Marvel.com

while i've gotten more into it. IMHO the main title of Secret wars is well worth reading, Ultimate End is good as well. basically the 616 universe which is the regular universe and the Ultimate universe are now colliding. some people find ultimate end confusing, to me it seems entertaining.

I've also been following a few tie in issues as well

1 Amazing spider-man Renew your vows ( very good ) im a spider fan so i might have a biased opinion.

2 Future Imperfect ( good ) if you read the original, it's not like it too much. but im enjoying that as well.

3 Secret wars 2099 ( not bad ) im a fan of the 2099 world, i was very upset with spidey 2099 basically ended and this showed up though.

4 old man logan - ( very good ) i'm enjoying the sorrentino art, never read the original OML but this is very enjoyable.

5 Planet Hulk- ( good ) different but similar to the original, it's interesting so thats why i've kept with it.

Ghost racers - ( not bad ) im a fan of ghost rider so i said let's give it a go

i ended up dropping 2 titles, because i felt they were just put together and really didn't think they were worth continuing. Deadpool's secret secret wars and inferno. DP SS SW is usual DP type of comic, inferno is basically a redo of the original.

and last but not least im awaiting this week because Marvel zombies VS Age of ultron comes out, and so does X-men ' 92. the first title is self explanatory, the X-men one is basically supposed to be about the original animated series from the 90s which i was a big fan of.

there were many other titles i didn't list because they just weren't my cup of tea at all. alot of them to me just seem pointless and attempt for marvel to just throw something together and just make some money off the fans...

WHEWWWWW sorry for the long post... hope that helps abit, PM for more info if you need to.

As of now also i will have to agree with ALOT of others currently but since DC completed its's convergence their back to the basics. a few titles continued from where they left off and a few new ones. i can't really lie i've been very impressed with their current offerings the past few weeks.

I'm a BIG spider-man fan, so i usually buy most spider titles. this however was focused at first more on Agent Venom and a few others.
