Hey there guys and gals, as many who use this section seem to be, I am new to this forum, although since I end up with a lot of toys and collectibles, I think Ill stick around for a while.

I picked up this Superman/Boy Statue/Toy at an Estate Sale here in Minnesota, and I really havent been able to locate any info on it. I even took it down to Rochester to a large antique show, and asked some of the toy dealers around there, and no one seemed to know much about it either. The only advise I got was, "Put it on eBay for a high price with Best Offer, and see what kind of offer you get". Well Ive done that, and havnt received an offer. I started the price at about $1000, and have it down to around $300.

Anyways, its hand painted, made of some kind of ceramic, and is hollow, as you can see up into its body from the bottom of its feet. The paint may be some kind of enamel, if you look really close you can see tiny lines in the paint. It has that early Fleischer symbol with the black, but doesnt have the yellow outline. I have seen references to an all black and red symbol from that early era, but I dont know. And of course the most obvious feature is its kewpie style face. I havent been able to find anything that looks even close to this. Please help!

Any help on finding some additional info on this would be appreciated. Lemme know.

It looks/sounds to me that it's a craft figurine that someone would buy to paint. It probably didn't originally come painted but rather came as white and someone did a great job painting it.

If there is no maker's mark on the bottom of it, I don't think it's anything special in terms of value, sorry to say.

As Rane has pointed out, it's likely not a licensed product. In the 70's and 80's, many craft shops sold plain white ceramic figures, animals, people, etc. Some would be licensed products, some would be generic. Then buyers would paint them as they saw fit. My mother, actually, was big into this. Unfortunately, these are not items that will ever become valuable. The only value that may exist for these would be in the older, unpainted variety. But even then, with no official date markers, that value would be near impossible to determine.

The upside down symbol on the chest is a give-away that this isn't licensed by DC or really based on the Fleischer animations. Likely just a generic super hero ceramic figurine painted to look like Superboy.
