So, looks like a 1 time deal as the figure is an exclusive to this set, per NECA.

I guess the "additional options" comment just meant you won't have to get the set via Ebay. Hopefully some brick&mortar store gets it in. I'd like to have an in-person look of the figure before buying it.

Will this include the extra hands and accessories that the NES version came with? I have not been able to find that info anywhere...I can see there is a little baggie in the package, but I can't tell what is in it.
The ebay listing says it will include the speargun and batarang, but on facebook they said it will have an extra set of hands and the batarang. Just wanted to know which it will actually be including...not that it really matters, I preordered as soon as I found out about this

It wouldn't surprise me if the figure only being available with the new blu-ray was the only way to get it past the licensing issues that would have kept this figure from being made in the first place.

Honestly, I'd rather it be this way, than only having the NES version as an option. It's not like Mattel or DCC was ever going to do a Keaton Batman in anything close to this scale.

Probably someone from DC who was like "you can make the figure, but only if you make it an incentive to buy the Bluray and not a toy on its own."

I think Mattel is going to try to double dip collectors who have been clamoring for 6 inch scale figures based on the Chris Reeves Superman movies and the Batman series. They kept putting it off and putting it off only to release the 4 inch DC Multiverse figures that NOBODY asked for. It's like a consolation prize for collectors who are hungry for plastic versions of these movie characters in a smaller scale. I bet Mattel will eventually produce 6 inch Movie Masters based on '89 Batman and other movies, but only after they sold as many crumby 4 inch figures as they can.

I honestly doubt that they will. Mattel seems to have given up on producing 6" collector-oriented action figures. Which I find kinda funny, because Hasbro seems to be going the other way. At least when it comes to movie lines.

Obviously NECA does not want anyone to own it since no one is going to buy their toy with a BD they can buy on Amazon for a quarter of the price WB is selling it for on their own site. Not only that, but there is no reason to buy the movie again when someone already has the digibook version, as that release is superior thanks to the book and the disc is the exact same disc.

I'm really hoping they announce it'll be a retailer exclusive movie bundle like the POTA bundle,Target would be ideal,I'm not plunking down $40 for this figure sight unseen!(no need for the BR)

Not sure I understand what you mean by this. NECA found a loophole to get this really highly demanded action figure produced didn't they? Why are you saying that they don't want people to buy it? People have obviously bought this action figure, and in such vast amounts that ebay shut the store down temporarily. Right now it says that over 380 have been sold in the last 24 hours, so clearly people are going to want to spend money on this, including me. Not everyone has the digibook version either, so getting a Blu Ray pretty much for free is excellent.

On the TRU website the NES version of the toy is selling at $24.99, and the WB store on ebay is selling the exclusive version for 29.99, so to me it's like getting a free Blu Ray with the best Keaton Batman action figure that has been made (in my opinion).

The action figure is what I am making the purchase of, the Blu Ray is just a bonus. If you already have the movie, then you can just sell off the Blu Ray you don't want and keep the excellent toy. Win/Win in my book.

I got an email from Hastings this morning saying that they'd partnered with WB to help announce the figure. Nothing about them selling it though which is fine since they usually charge the full MSRP everything. The email has a link to the WB ebay store. I'll admit that I'm not happy about re-buying the blu ray but I really want that figure.

I think $25 is a fair retail price point for the NES figures. Regular NECA toys already cost around $20, so adding $5 for the nice displayable box isn't too bad. I enjoy when I can get one for less than retail, but have no problems picking them up at retail.

Because WB wants $40 shipped for the movie with the figure. That is way too much money for a movie that is 25 years old when you can get the digibook for $10.

So the shipping is like $10 since the bluray with the toy is listed as $30, right? The NES Batman is usually around $7 for average shipping and costs $20-$25 depending on where you get it so it'll come out to around $26-$32 shipped (totally depending on where you get it and what shipping you choose). So if you look at it that way then the movie is only about $10 with this bundle thing. Though that may very well be $10 more for a movie you don't want and you'd rather be able to just get the figure on its own for a lower price, unfortunately DC has only allowed for the figure to be released this way. Any anger for the unwanted and forced purchase of the bluray to get the figure should be directed to DC and/or WB, not NECA. I've heard repainting the NES figure isn't terribly hard either if you really just want the figure, though you may be like me and refuse to customize your toys which negates that option.

lol I've tried repainting toys and yeah, they never come out pretty. Joints don't stay painted. Flesh colors peel off because even with one coat they are too thick. Then there are the little corners and ridges that can not be painted.

Not going to happen for me.

For me it's a thing of being afraid that I'd mess up the paint almost immediately and have wasted however much money I spent on the figure and paint. I've seen a good custom Batman on Twitter, but it took them like a week and it still doesn't look as good as the official.

i'm sorry but you're insane..

this figure is basically an exclusive.. right?.. exclusives tend to cost a bit more right?.. shipping almost always costs money as well, correct?..

so.. $40.. the movie on walmart.com cost $7.88, so that's $32.12.. subtract shipping which is about $9 (for me) which brings us to 23.12.. the NES version costs $24.99.. so.. how is this a bad deal?

you're getting a figure that you otherwise won't be able to get.. if you're breaking it down the way i have it makes sense.. and even if you're looking at it as 'this is an exclusive, so i'm paying an exclusive price' it makes sense.. i mean.. it's not like we're talking about $75 or even $50.. it's $40. i can think of plenty of other toys that don't look nearly this good but cost more.

so again.. you're insane for complaining about this. 1769 of these have been sold in what.. a couple days?.. so.. i'm glad not many others feel the same as you about this.

also.. it's a beautiful figure.. that needs to be taken into account here. there are very few, if any, flaws. in my opinion there aren't any.

i would prefer this to be sold in stores.. but, i'd rather know that i'm getting it than keeping my fingers crossed that it finds its way to stores and risk missing out.

as for the movie.. who cares? i only own it on VHS lol.. but still, i probably won't even bother watching it.. i've seen it plenty. there are plenty of other things that are released at retail with extra items that you don't really want, but you suck it up and get it any way.

This version doesn't even come with additional hands and stuff.

And the difference is I can't walk into a store to buy it. It isn't $25.

Just a heads-up, he actually does come with the extra hands and accessories from what I've read. they're just not in the packaged picture because it's a quick mockup.

you are still insane.. this is something EVERYONE has been wanting ever since we saw the mold.. they figured out a way to get it to us even though they themselves didn't think it was possible.. and best yet is that it's at an EXTREMELY reasonable price.. seriously.. just about everything you buy on the internet has shipping costs.. so.. you're really only paying $5 more.. but you're also getting the DVD.. i seriously don't even see how that can be a complaint.

if you want to complain.. go complain to mattel for sitting on their asses and not giving the fans what they want.. neca has heard the fans and has done what they could to get this product into their hands. what's to complain about?.. you can't buy it in stores? oh well.. i love transformers masterpiece figures.. am i NOT going to buy them because i can't get them in stores? of course not. that's just silly.. unbelievably silly.

i wish neca had free range to produce batman figures. i'd kill for 7" neca versions of the nicholson joker.. catwoman.. penguin .. and i also wouldn't mind neca versions of the nolan trilogy characters. hell.. while they're at it.. with the upcoming predator vehicle coming soon, they could easily capitalize on both the burton batmobile and the nolan batmobile and give us scaled versions of those. i'm sure PLENTY of people would want it. as it is now our only option is the hot toys versions.. and those are ridiculously pricey for the average fan.

mattel could easily produce scaled versions of these vehicles, i mean, 3.75" figures are the perfect size for scaled vehicles.. but they won't.

and we've seen with the movie masters figures. they put minimal effort into those figures. the head sculpts are subpar, and they just come off as being cheap.. especially for $19.99.. for that price point neca would do a MUCH better job.

there's nothing more annoying than when a company clearly squanders a great license. especially when another company has proven that they can do a better job at an equal price point.

so.. like i said, blame mattel.. but don't poo poo this release because it can't be sold in stores (for now). neca seems to be one of the few companies that actually listen to their fans.

The extra hands and weapons are in the pics, they're just not on display in the package like the NES version. There is a plastic bag with the extra parts at the bottom of his cape and an indentation in the tray for the bag to sit in.
