I get that you don't want to (excuse the pun) alienate the mass market with a restricted release that's a "must have", but even a figure with a new headsculpt, or accessory, or new anything would of been better! Ocassionally NECA has done some repaints that are clever/novel enough to warrant a second purchase (the jungle demon predator for example), but the volume of alien repaints is just too much. I just don't think this is good enough for the "reward" for buying all the club figures, and concept of it is a stretch in any case, the box art inspired, really? I hate to sound like a hater, but I'm just very disappointed.
Maybe a happy medium would be diorama pieces instead? Not cardboard cartoon stuff, but things like melting space deck effects and cocooned figures? With a bit of pre-planning they could even be designed to fit together. That would entice me.

Committing to buy every figure in the range is the real stretch. Especially with the Prometheus stuff.

*cue sad trombone WOMP-WOMP noise*

I know NECA's heart was in the right place with this sub, but from what I've heard they bungled it, BADLY. They really should offer a more unique freebie to people that gave them money.

Honestly I saw this coming from a mile away. I can't be disappointed though because I was never a club member, however I feel for everyone who may feel a little short changed.

Collectibles are expensive and while I'm a completists with most things NECA especially their Alien and Predator lines, I have to be as thrifty as possible if I'm going to support my hobby. So as soon as I saw the prices for the NECA Club figures I knew it wasn't something for me. I could get them cheaper almost anywhere else. And the sad part is when you're paying all that EXTRA money and this is what you get (not even for free) Yeah... that's a bit of a head scratcher...

I actually dig the figure quite a bit and I'd like to one day own it. As a Toys R Us or Comic Con Exclusive I'm sure most would find it more favorable, but as the reward for a year's worth of participation for a pricey club, I think the backlash speaks for itself. The thing is NECA products, especially the Alien line are already so good they would have sold well without the need of a club. I doubt we'll see Alien Club or other subscriptions services like it making a return in 2018. But hey, if you like it, I love it.

Sure it is disappointing, but I wonder if the reason they didn't announce the figure earlier is because they had to wait and see the interest from the fans. Obviously new tooling, new sculpts cost a lot more on their end, and there just might not have been enough fans signing up to make it worth their while. Of course, this is unlikely to entice new fans to join the club, which will only compound the problem.

Well, on the bright side in a few years (or sooner), I would imagine this will fetch a pretty good price just because of rarity. Maybe club members can recoup some of their money that way.

What's the original figure it's mimicking?

It may be because I’m not invested with the sub, but I absolutely love the look of this figure. I actually wish I could get it.

I hope they didn't plan on continuing this club. One reason for retooling and doing something super cool this year is to promote membership next year. Give people a reason to join. They just killed that. Nobody will join this club now and any members they had will be gone. I think they took a dump on people who trusted them enough to join.

I've never seen anything get as much hate on Facebook as this figure did. The club is fucked. No one will join it next year.

Wow, I expected better out of NECA. They must have their Godzilla team working on this club stuff as this screams that lackluster division.

Next they'll probably do a Xeno with barf all over its face and call it a new figure like they did with GMK Godzilla.

I just hate this "Secret Figure" shtick. Hate it with the Joe Club, Hate it with NECA trying it. MOTUC always announced what the member figure would be- I ALWAYS signed up. I imagine most people dumping money into subs want to know exactly what they will be getting- and if Purple Alien had been on the menu I doubt they would have filled the sub quota. And that's pretty crappy for them to do that- especially at the higher club costs per figure and insane shipping. They should have at lest got maybe a purple version of one of the AvP video game aliens coming out soon so they could get it earlier than the retail release- make it a little bit more worthwhile.

No one's saying it is, this is a toy forum. For discussing toys. For COMPLAINING about toys. If a company takes your money and promises you early access to product and fails, AND gives you a mediocre repaint aa an incentive figure, people have a right to complain.

No offense, but then why bother complaining about anything ever? Why should gamers have complained about the always online requirement Microsoft was going to do with the X1? It wasn't life or death. Their complaining only made Microsoft change their minds, not fix world hunger, so I guess it was a waste.

Why bother complaining about the white washing in movies? It's not life or death. Why bother complaining about a movie that you think sucks? It's not life or death. Why bother going on a discussion board to discuss things? It's not life or death.

you're right. complain if you want. but I don't see this site as an endgame for my complaints.

you're also right. when they repaint the godzillas in kenner purple you'll hate that too.

my statement was more about the facebook hate, but yes, some things are a let down.

also, where's the box that I check so that I'm not hoodwinked by corporations and get to solve video game disappointment, racism, world hunger? I'm in.

overarching vitriol is silly.

I always thought the Pop-up base was the exclusive. All 6 of those pieces combined are easily worth $100. The figure may not seem impressive to some, but it will be extremely limited. Funny how people complain when NECA does exclusives that are totally unique, and when they are repaints. You can’t please anyone. If only NECA would launch a TMNT club.

The pop ups are nice, but not $100 nice. It's just cardstock after all.

I think the complaint isn't the fact that it's exclusive, it's the fact that for all the money you put into it, a repaint is all you get. I'm sure there are lots of people would love to own it (I'm one of those people), but between the price mark up per figure, the insane shipping charges and the fact that you still have to pay more for the repaint plus more shipping it doensn't make much financial sense to be in the club whether you're a hardcore fan/ completist or not.

When it's all said and done you're easily paying over a $100 in extra fees before you ever get the exclusive.
