Sick artwork. The face is bothering me a bit, maybe because of the solid red eyes, but still: I really like this. Definitely A-tier as far as packaging artwork for toys is concerned.

I am so happy they didn't stick with that design... the one in the movie is sooo much better and unique to the point that it is now iconic. The initial design is awful imo.

The most direct answer would probably be that he's ancient so he looks different. Digging into fan-mode, perhaps he's supposed to be from a time before the Yautja diverged into separate sub-species.

He's skin texture and body shape is reminiscent of the Super Predators which are about due for a updated re-release. In predators Noland says "here's two different types of them out there. Hmm? Now, they're similar, but they're different. It's kind of like the difference between dogs and wolves." So perhaps they were thinking dogs evolved from wolves so the "wolf" appearance would make him look more primal. Alternatively, they're just wanting to get the most of our body types and by doing this they can use it at least four times.
