Fantastic attention to detail. Can't wait to see it painted. I just hope they use a regular body sculpt and avoid copying the bulkiness of the costume worn in the movie, which IMO was a major problem in the film, because the viewer was reminded constantly: "I'm watching some poor schmuck struggle to move quickly in a bulky, cumbersome costume."

The bodies will be entirely new. However, NECA has stated multiple times that while these toys will be bulkier and taller than the average Predator they will not be nearly as bulked as they were in the film. You can kind of make out what I'm saying if you look at the Toy Fair pictures. These AVP preds will also gain an ab crunch since the armor will better conceal the joint, an ab crunch on a regular predator body would be pretty unsightly.

Thanks guys
Addendum: I have a feeling that this could be a real beauty, raising the bar (so to speak) for all NECA predators going forward. Looking at my recently-acquired Jungle Hunter, I have to say that it's quite a sharp disappointment compared to the old McFarlane version in terms of accurate paint and detailing and even the simplest sculpt details. The paint for the camouflage mesh is off by almost a quarter of an inch from the raised ridges for which it was intended, and the spots for his chest are all shifted to the left. The painting is sloppy overall. I wonder if NECA experienced quality control issues or something: maybe I just happened to land one of the duds. But the biggest mistake is the helmet sculpt. They botched the part over the mouth, bending it forward. At least McFarlane got the helmet right! Oh well. Onward and upward... Last edited by Skoob; 05-18-2015 at 02:42 PM.. |

The mask is Celtic, with the body shot being Chopper.
I recently dumped my Mcfarlane versions in favor of these coming soon. While the movie was still a stink fest, I can't wait to see the finished product. |
