I wonder if this affects super7? I rather enjoy their ultimates line, reminds me of the Bandai stuff I had as a kid….just better sculpts.

Playmates did really nice voltron stuff so maybe the zords will finally get what they deserve. The figures….i don’t know how you top the lightning collection….im still sore about hasbro not finishing the core villains nor ever getting to the 1995 movie suits.

A lot of people were waiting on entries to finish their Lightning collection teams. I was buying the helmets which only had 2 left I believe.

That's why I moved on to the Shodo line. Stickers suck, but at least I get an entire team in one box.

Luckily I was focused on the MMPR side of things, so I was pretty well taken care of since they seemed to be focused on that most of the time. Save for the helmets of course. I was pretty much just collecting whatever monsters they were putting out at this point. Would have been nice to get a Bulk and Skull though.

I always find my self looking at the Shodo line and SMP lines but can never get myself to pull the trigger.

The Shodo and SMP lines do exactly what I want. Full teams with 90% of the weapons they used on the show, 6 inch fully posseable mechs, show accuracy, etc. The only issue is they hardly do villains. Like they did the grunts to Dairanger and are doing the Neijirangers (Psycho Rangers) to Megaranger, but so far there have been no monsters or main villains.

I really would love to have the Gorma Triumverate and some monsters to go with my Dairangers. Junior, the Dorodoros, and Yokai to go with my Kakurangers. Radiguet to go with Jetman. And so on.

Pulse does retain the right to release items through its website but is done with it at retail. Hopefully the helmets and teams get finished. I don't get ehy Hasbro folds on some lines so quick. Pretty much confirms what everyone already knew:

Power Rangers has no value as an ip outside of MMPR.

It was an impulse purchase Hasbro regretted.

Outside of the Disney brands, Transformers and surprisingly GI Joe Hasbro is likely done with collector toylines.

Because the current Hasbro management doesn't want them.

Stuff like Lightning Collection and Golden Archive was very much the result of Brian Goldner's desire to turn Hasbro into a media powerhouse like Disney.

I assume Plasma series and Adventure series were done because of the success of Star Wars Black but were found wanting.

This article makes no sense though. Of course the line failed to meet their earnings, there was no product being sold during that time as they canned the line halfway through 2023.

He's talking about the franchise overall and explaining why they are outsourcing it.


Basically, Power Rangers failed to justify the money Hasbro spent on it. It was a bad investment.

Maybe because they had no idea what to do with it? There was massive inconsistencies amoung teammates. Sculpts were wrong at times. Colors were wrong. Weapons were missing. Teams were left incomplete. Paint apps were shit. Mishandled scaling.

Every livestream they had featured new faces like the line was just a revolving door. Not to mention the livestreams that were like 10 minutes long to show off one new item despite being the first livestream in like 8 months time.

Little to no zords for collectors despite them being an expert company at making combining robots.

No promotions.

They barely even did anything with the kids lines. They never released every zord from both Beast Morphers and Dino Fury nor did they do any product from Cosmic Fury.

They should have hired people who actually cared about the brand rather than people who had no idea what Power Rangers even was.

Hasbro made the waves that way because everyone complained about MMPR taking up the first couple waves of Legacy Collection and bluntly speaking If only MMPR sells making more non MMPR stuff isn't going to help.

And this isn't a new pattern for PR as a brand.

Saban and Bandai let it go to Hasbro because it wasn't making money for them either.

Before that Disney.

And both Disney and Hasbro acquired it because they were told it's a franchise they can grow to profitability and use to corner the boys toy market.

Both realized it was a scam the instant they tried to pour any real money into it.

I know PR fans like to tell themselves that PR isn't just a 90s fad that lingered on past its time because it was cheap to make and only needs people "who care".

But even the largest American media conglomerate and toy manufacturers couldn't make it work.

I think it's time to let it go.

Maybe MMPR only sells because that is all they care to bother pushing?

Personally though, I think PR should have gone into its own thing in the 2000s rather than contiuously use Sentai footage for as long as it has.

Nevertheless, Hasbro should have had each wave include a BAF and/or just did most ranger teams as a 5 pack.

Yup, that's also my idea of why they failed as well. It's not that PR is not profitable, it's that they don't know what to do with it, and do it right. By applying the same idea that PR is not profitable, other Sentai toy line should have died by now. Let's be honest, you buy the figures most of the time because of the suit, not the actors, and both Sentai and PR have identical suits. A Sentai fan can get the PR stuff as well, as long as it's the figure they want, and the quality is good, which are two of the things Habsro failed to archive.
There's a massive gap in the market where Sentai franchise has yet to fill. Ligthspeed, Ninja Storm, Wild Force in 6 inch scale etc. The LC started with MM and ended with MM. They released a bunch of figures that would not sell well i.e., the monsters. GI Joe started as a 90 franchise, and look how well it's doing now, and it's the same in house franchise as PR. It's not the franchise, it's the people behind the team not knowing what to do.
Shodo did a bunch of figures of other team, and they have Zord as well, they released a bunch of Zords that Hasbro would not do in a million years, because they were too busy with MM. They have one unique ranger which is Titannium, and that's one of the best design I've ever seen, and they didn't even bother with releasing one before the line end. Instead, you know? How about remastered MM? Green, but without armor!

What I love is they released their first SPD figure (Doggie) in Wave 2 in 2019 and we just got SPD Yellow as a store exclusive last year to complete the team. It took them FIVE FUCKING YEARS to complete the main SPD team.

While I don't collect the whole team often, I get the frustration of yours. Bloody finish what you start before doing other stuff for god's sake, they leave a lot of things hanging, while making irrelevant thing like the Cobra kai cross over.

I was not liking the LC at first due to the body proportion, I was quite happy with the Legacy stuff I h, but man the packaging and the fun stuff they put in the first couple years were so fun, that they won me over.

What they did at the end of line put a distaste in my mouth. The packaging was one of the few great things about the LC, it's compact, doesn't waste a lot of space and actually solid while being a great display piece, but of course, they ditched the packaging and replace it with their hot garbage new packaging anyway.

I'm a bit confused what you mean as the Lightning Collection had proper body proportions while it was the Legacy stuff Bandai did that did not. Bandai had this obsession with making their rangers all muscular and crap, which never made sense since they don't look like that on screen.

As for teams, I don't see the point in collecting one ranger. It's either the whole team or bust. If that's your thing, that's cool, but I pesonally don't understand how anyone could only have like a single ranger from a full team in their collection. It just makes the thing look incomplete. That would be like only getting Human Torch for the Fantastic FOUR.

Playmates has made some pretty neat kaiju figures for the newer godzilla movies at a great price point. Hopefully that continues
