NECA Figures Coming To Target Stores

I think Color Tops was a store by store decision because my Targets all carried them but I heard about plenty that didn't and then one of my local Walmarts had them but not the others. Distribution on Color Tops was just weird. Either way on whatever McFarlane had going on Target is saying here that "all stores nationwide" will have a NECA section.

The color tops around here were always in the front by the cards and blind bag stuff. I’ve also noticed Targets have been carving out an “adult collector” section, usually on the back wall behind DVDs. They’ve had a lot of rick and morty, stranger things, and other pop stuff there.

Someone on Facebook posted a picture of the neca section at their local target. I’m pleasantly surprised at the pricing - $27.99 for ultimates and $23.99 for Godzilla figures. Less than GameStop, and with the redcard discount they are right around most e-retailers price. Assortment was pretty solid too, ultimate Jason 2/3/4/6, ultimate Freddy 1/2, ultimate chucky, Godzilla vs spacegodzilla/Destoroyah/shin, plus some other miscellaneous items

Hope you are ready only for the little key chain figures. Neca can’t sell tmnt action figures at retail. From what I’ve read YEARS ago, before TMNT became a phenomenon, it was a tiny college parody comic of dark 80’s heroes like Daredevil. Mirage was approached for a toy/cartoon deal, and playmates decided not to do the usual licensing deal of a year by year renewal. They wholly bought the master rights to tmnt toys. That means no one can make toys without negotiations with them to get the “official licensed products” stamp.

Seems like Target is picking up some of the slack from TRU, I saw some 3.75 inch soldiers again in there yesterday I only saw at TRU lately.

What a bust. I hit the target on transit in Clarence( near buffalo) and the boulevard target ( also near buffalo) and nothing. One had a sign and the employee knew nothing. The orther had nothing and knew nothing. They are resetting the actual toy aisles so naybe Neca is an after thought. I did see full sets of venom legends and I bought the falcon/ winter soilder set and the hulk/ hulkbuster set. I was really hoping to see something to day....I have little hope for this "surprise" on Monday?

One of my Targets had the section set up and stocked, it looks like the NECA section that was left from the Toys r Us closure was just moved over to Target. A lot of older Headknockers, Scalers, the sort of stuff that shelfwarmed at other stores over the last few years. They had some recent Ultimate horror figures, but they are $27.99. I can get them at that price from one of my LCS, I was hoping Target would get them down under $25. No Pennywise, which is the only NECA horror figure I’m hunting right now.

Definitely not. Target is way more pared down than the Toys R Us selection ever was. Target won't be carrying the majority of NECA items. If you look at what's there, it's mostly mainstream licenses. Godzilla, Friday the 13th, Nightmare On Elm Street. Randy said they won't be carrying non-main line releases, such as Kenner style figures. Focus will be curated items, with slightly more in the larger stores.

Great.....so no predator aliens goodies. Whats the point if they arent gonna carry the good shit many neca collectors are after, the kenner homages especially. I never bought any neca online and wont cause those are figs you have to see in person. Buying neca sight unseen is a crapshoot at best. Hopefully some chain will carry a full neca line, not just popular crap.

FYE, outside of Toys R Us, is the only retail store I've see with a full slate of NECA items.

I stopped in the only one by me today. The collectible section which used to be 12 feet wide and was full of Stranger Things merch, POPS, Jada, and other assorted stuff was now down to 4 feet and most everything was on clearance. The other 8 feet was now full of clearance video games and movies. I asked a bloke there and he said their store was trying to get out of carrying the collectible stuff altogether because it doesn't sell. The only NECA I found was a single Kratos figure by the video games, which has been there for months and had a nice covering of dust on it. When I told him that they probably weren't getting out of collectibles completely, because of the new NECA deal in place, he laughed and said, "Yeah, it's pretty damn easy to refuse shipments in receiving."
