To be fair this might be the best looking It yet. But I agree they’ve made just a bit too many haha

Really wishing they'd release a base body and just sell a ton of accessories kits with heads & hands, instead of full releases over and over. Because I knew they'd do this, I just gave up on getting a Pennywise. Didn't want to feel like I bought the wrong one, so I bought none.

Yeah, I'm so sick of NECA milking the Pennywise releases. Hard pass on this one, especially when you know they're just going to release 3 or 4 more "Ultimate" sets featuring the same exact figure with a few new accessories down the line. Nope.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think this is an entirely new body sculpt plus I don’t think Pennywise was dressed any differently than the previous film. After a close inspection of my IT 2017 figures, it would appear that the only new molded part for this IT Chapter 2 Pennywise figure is the chest overlay. The red pom-pom on the belt portion of his costume is now located on the chest chest and it looks like this figures features a newer bigger collar piece. Outside of that everything except maybe the upper shoulder pieces, is likely just re-use.

I really hope they don’t try to milk this film like they did the first especially when the only logical headsculpts left to make are maybe a crying headsculpt and a roaring/ chomping headsculpt.

NECA probably has another accessory set in the works that features the smaller creatures of the film like fortune cookie scene, the Spiderhead scene or the deflated baby pennywise.

I could also see NECA producing a large scale spider Pennywise that appeared at the end of the film with a few scaled-up headsculpts we’ve gotten already. And though I highly doubt it, we could also see NECA making the monster form of the old lady as well.

With all that said, I think I’ll just wait for this figure to go on clearance.

I think it's getting to the point where people are starting to shudder when they hear the phrase "NECA Ultimate Pennywise." Ugh.

NECA has an unfortunate habit of blatantly lying about re-releases of figures featuring "all new sculpts" when they're really using the same exact old sculpt with a few extra joints added in. This Pennywise seems to be less of a lie than usual as it does seem to feature some new parts, but it's guaranteed that there's some definite re-use going on as well.

Speaking of re-use, what the hell ever happened to NECA's Crash Bandicoot Coco and Neo Cortex figures? They've milked Crash to death and beyond with multiple releases using the same body, let's get some new shit out already.

Of course they will.

Not to get this thread off topic about the new Pennywise figure, but in regards to Crash, I wouldn’t be surprised if Neo Cortex and Coco have either been severely delayed or out right canceled.

If I had to take a guess, I would say the Crash line is selling similar to the Borderlands 2 Claptrap figure where by retailers only want variants of Crash and have little interest for the supporting characters or villains. Either that or NECA killed any future interest in the line by putting out every possible variant of Crash to get their money’s worth out of the sculpt to the point where collectors have all but lost interest in the possibility of side characters and it’s finally showing in the sales.

At the same time I won’t be surprised NECA releases pre-orders for Neo Cortex and Coco really soon, but at this point I’m not holding my breath either.

Going back to It Chapter 2, do any of you think there is any potential for other figures based off Pennywise’s looks from the film that this newest release doesn’t cover?

Coco and Neo Cortex may not happen. Randy recently said there was little retail support and they are looking for alternate ways to release them.

There's little doubt that they basically killed the line with all the countless Crash variants they released. Thanks, NECA.

I feel like the only tweets I see from Randy are about how none of their properties are "getting enough retail support." Maybe it's time to reconsider the release strategy of entire waves being character 1 with x different head sculpts?

Personally I like the Character so have dozens of them to display each of the heads. That said, I have a massive stack of heads which seems wasteful. In my opinion they should have done this in waves of 3 like their alien and predator lines with scene specific accessories. Results in less waste and could have led to more variation and characters.

So far (including this release) for modern Pennywise you would need 19 figures to display all the heads (2 for sdcc and 2 for gamestop). Sans the exclusives that's 15 figures or 5 waves worth. Had they gone this route the skarsgard head could have had a more appropriate body likewise the lady from the painting. They could have also given us some of the other characters then upped the likelihood of selling the less popular ones by going the DST route and having a build a Neibolt house (see DST ghostbusters firehouse). Pennywise, losers, lepper, Georgie etc gives you at least 10 waves.

Up until very recently, I had seen at least two of the other Pennywise figures here and there.

Maybe it’s time to bring back a cult classics or movie maniacs type line. Like what neca is doing with toony terrors. Neca has got to come up with something new. As beautiful as their figures are, and they are beautiful, they are getting stale. The excitement just isn’t there anymore. I don’t have the answer, but if someone can get us excited again, it’s Randy. I’ll keep the faith.

I've always thought they should have a Cult Classics style "basics" line for their horror and sci-fi releases. Basically, after an Ultimate has had it's run, bring back the mold as a lower cost release with less accessories, and smaller packaging. Kind of like they did for Freddy and Jason back in 2010 thru 2013. The figure, 1 to 2 accessories, and no interchangeable parts. Price them at $18 in plastic backers. Within those you can do store exclusive variants here and there with a different head sculpt or something. The aim would be to always have their characters on toy shelves, and give people a cheaper option who maybe don't want all the stuff that comes with Ultimates.

I also think we're going to see a bigger shift to the Mego style releases for anything that's not a 100% sure fire hit. The risk and cost to them is just much lower in that format.

I think this is a great idea.

I know a lot of the people don't like the Mego-style figures, but I think they're pretty rad. And if it could possibly get me a Vincent Price Dr. Phibes figure, I'd be eternally grateful.
