I think the main people buying these are just going to be Action Figure collectors that want to take a funny picture of the Golden Girls with their other toys...

I'm on the bandwagon that these will sell. I showed them to some friends who are GG fans and not action figure fans at all and they loved them. I can see it happening, I still don't get why they wouldn't release a 4 pack.

I have to ask, not owning a single NECA Mego style figure; why don't they make the clothes like 10% smaller? They all look giant on them. They actually gave them good headsculpts; tighten up the tailoring a little more and they'd be great.

I had that same thought. Also, if the interest in this thread is anything to gauge "general interest" from, I'd say these are going to sell better than I'd initially thought. I thought the Harry Potter Figuarts would be a miserble failure, but they've sold better than I thought. So I think it's a strong possibility these will sell pretty well.

That Blanche...whoof. She looks like she got a big ol dose of SmileX. Like they resculpted a Suicide Squad Leto Joker head. The big clothing doesn't faze me because that's pretty much how their wardrobes looked. And before you even ask, oh yeah, there's a market for these. My wife is a huge fan of the GGs. It's also seen a resurgence with people who got tired of binging other shows.

My wifes response was that they're kind of creepy because of the expressions but who doesn't want to have Sophia Petrillo sitting by a cheesecake next to Optimus Prime and Batman?

Technically I am a millennial (current definition is anyone born between 1981 and 1996). I pre-ordered these as soon as they went up simply because I am a major action figure collector and was raised by tv, Golden Girls being one of the better classic sitcoms. Man if they made figures like this for like Hey Dude or Salute Your Shorts, or Taxi or something, I'd be all in.

I remember that neca said Critters for example was too "niche"for their audience.

But what about these Golden Girls?
I would have understand if they were limited or exclusives.

"Niche" is NECA code for "it's not interesting enough to us so no"

Actually, their response to Critters has been there's not much to do since Amok Time did them. Golden Girls is a far more wide reaching property than Critters as well.

I think the MEGO line has wide appeal. It seems very inviting to an older audience.

I assume it's cheaper to produce, but offers the chance at more risks.

It will not happen soon, since Mego did their terrible version. I would LOVE a NECA Married With Children AL Bundy.

GG will sell. It has a unique appeal. Collectors are older and relish 80 properties. I never thought I would be buying the Golden Girls....but here I am pre-ordering them. Besides being a popular show again, these are unique, very colorful and will stand out in any collectors shelf or space.

I just saw that show for the first time in probably 20yrs just last time- If you got Johnny you need Venus, Bailey, Herb, Les, Andy and a Mr.carlson/Jennifer two-pack... Hell- lets have a DJ booth playset to put them all in...

Benson. Webster. Barney Miller. Alice's Diner. What's Happening Now. M.A.S.H. Different Strokes. And lets not even get into the NBC series stuff like Wings and Cheers. There's 40+ years of really good series that just never got past lunch box stages of merch.
