Today is World Turtle Day and Neca usually drops some major TMNT hints or reveals about their SDCC exclusive. So far they've tweeted these pics:

WTRL 3 was the news station that April worked at in the 1990 movie.

Hopefully we'll see a full reveal later today!

It's the diorama wall they unveiled at Toy Fair. Just with more finalized paint, as the one at the event was not finalized.

I thought the diorama wasn't supposed to be brand specific so that it could be released at retail without getting Nickelodeon's approval.

From what I've read since Toy Fair, there's likely to be multiple versions. Basic unbranded ones and then possibly a specialized version. This looks to be the specialized one. Could end up being a con exclusive.

I hadn't heard anything about multiple versions of the diorama. Although that does make sense given that the original model at NYTF was painted to look similar to the original TMNT animated series backgrounds. I do find it interesting that they'd make a diorama with April's news station logo from the 1990 movie. Let's hope that's some foreshadowing for what's to come today.

Soooooo glad I waited on this (the movie boxset.) Now the question is will NECA improve their checkout options on their page when this goes up.

I think the real news that these pics reveal is that apparently Anthrax beer exists on planet Earth, something that I was not aware of.

Goddammit! I'm probably going to want this, and I kind of hate NECA, or at least their management and quality control. I'm also not a fan of trying to get exclusives, even if I'm at the show.

Well I'm definitely curious, I won't hold my breath until official pics are revealed, but it looks like all signs point to scaled down 1990 Movie versions of the Turtles.

My eyes could be playing tricks on me, but if I had to take a wager I'd say that box only has room for four turtles plus accessories judging by the thickness and how NECA packs their 7in scale turtles.

Whatever the case, I hope I'm able to grab a set. It was so hectic trying to get last year's 2017 Cartoon set. My heart was still pounding out of my chest even after I got my order confirmation. Most stressful toy-related 20 seconds of my life.

As a 90s kid who loved the ninja turtles this makes me very happy. The 1/4 scale figures look awesome but are too big for my tastes.

NECA always has some amazing reveals for TMNT! This one will be the definitive, must own TMNT set in my opinion. I’m thinking that we’ll get 7” versions of: all 4 turtles, the accessory pack, and 1 level of the dio. I highly doubt that Foot or Shredder will be in this set since the 1/4 scale versions haven’t released, but maybe next year or NYCC they’ll add them.

However, since all these were already sculpted in 1/4 scale, I wonder if they’ll add 1 all new figure, like April. She is one character that I think would be awesome in 7” scale, but maybe not so much demand for 1/4 scale. Maybe they could find a way to reuse a sculpt from Ripley or another similiar build female figure. Either way, can’t wait!!!!

As awesome as it would be to get all that, I just don’t see diorama pieces being included in this set. The box in the teaser pic isn’t that thick and even one level of that dio looks to be pretty substantial as far as the size goes. The box looks to be about the same size as one of the trays from the 2017 set. With four figures and their accessories, there was no room for a fifth figure in either tray.

Ripley is too tall. Sarah Connors body would be much closer to Aprils Height. Either way it would be a simple enough sculpt. That said, the likeness rights would present an issue as the actors face would need to be licensed. Shredder or Casey (masked) could work as they wouldn't need to work with the actors. Such a shame the 90s movies didn't give us Bebop and Rocksteady.

They included diorama pieces with the originals. I mean if you look at that dio, it could be broken down to 4-6 flat pieces per level, I think it could fit. I’d be surprised if they only release 4 turtles. I would imagine they would want to hit close to a $200 price point like they’ve done the last 2 SDCC exclusives.

I’d be surprised if NECA doesn’t have the likeness rights already. For some movies. they actually get a bunch of likenesses, like Terminator.

Figured this would be the year NECA delivered a 7" box set from the movie. For me, this is the definitive, must have. I've passed on cartoon versions and video game versions, and don't collect the larger scale stuff. This is the one to have for me, regardless of what else comes in the box.

If you look closely the image of the turtles on the front of the box is actually an image of the figures in the box.
