I love it. Roy's perfect. His "real" skin tone is totally different from the latex mask, as it should be. He has the wound in his midsection from when Reggie the Reckless hit him with the tractor. He even has the leather strap/tree branch combo, possibly the goofiest weapon ever used to kill an oversexed teen in an 80's slasher flick!

Day one, motherfuckers.

Ah, Roy Burns the Jason impostor that killed more people in one movie than Pamela Voorhees did in the first movie. Not bad, going to pass on it.

Hot DAMN does that figure look good. I was expecting just a head swapped Myers...but this...this....whoo....

So excited we're finally getting Roy. He's LONG been on my list for most wanted versions of Jason, and we're almost there. I can't wait!

Yeah, I'm excited too. Part 5 is the most under-rated entry in the series and I'm glad Roy's getting some love.

I see this re-uses some Myers stuff, but only the parts that make sense. Still, this is the first - and perhaps only - NECA "Jason" figure with double-jointed elbows because of it.

But why while we're re-using some Myers parts, why not give Roy two gripping hands instead of just one? Myers had 'em.

I like how they made his suit look more green. Really shows NECA's attention to details.

Looks like Michael is cosplaying as Jason.

No seriously, he does look cool, but I just can't justify buying a version of Jason from a shitty ass movie.

lol

The remake is better than Part 5 in my book. The only movies that are inferior to it are Jason Goes to Hell and maybe Jason Takes Manhattan.

It's got a lot of great ideas, but the editing and pacing suck so bad that I find myself bored. It also doesn't help that there is no impact to some random dude you saw in two quick scenes be Jason. It should have been Tommy OR they should have actually built Roy up.

You make some good points...really, the reveal of Roy as the killer was total bullshit, as there was no way anyone would even remember that guy. Roy was nothing but a background player and nothing more. Yeah, he glares at the camera for a second which I guess is the director's brilliant way of dropping a "hint," but Roy was no Tyler Durden, I'll give you that. Building up Roy more or making the killer Tommy (which would have been fun but too obvious) would have been better.

Odd that no one really bitches about Pamela Voorhees being the killer in the first movie, however, especially since she doesn't appear at all until she's revealed at the end. At least Roy got a few scenes.

And yeah, the movie is campy as shit, but it also gives the most screen time to establishing the personalities of much of its very quirky cast, which makes the film a bit more endearing than the average F13 entry. The pacing, meanwhile, is about on par with the other F13 movies of that era, so I don't think you can single it out there.

I'll fully admit that Part 5 is a "love it or hate it" movie. I happen to love it. Your mileage may vary.

The hilarious thing about Roy, however, is that he ends up killing everyone EXCEPT that one guy that actually killed his son! Talk about fucked up priorities.

For me it's because that was the original film and it was an interesting plot twist. Plus, there was a build up featuring the character several minutes beforehand.

The camp isn't the issue though. After all, the whole scenario happens over a candy bar. It's that I just find myself utterly bored by everything happening on screen and the rednecks don't help matters. Plus, the death scenes are severly edited down to the point that they might as well not even exist at all.

Like I said, I do give the movie props for trying something new as I liked the idea of a person pretending to be Jason. In fact, I wish this had become a thing with the series and that they had left the actual Jason dead. Well that or just have had a movie series with people telling stories about the legend of Jason around a campfire, this way it could still be Jason, just he wouldn't actually be physically there.

True. It's been so long since the first time I've seen the original, and I can't remember what I thought of the twist at the time. But I can see the surprise that may come when discovering that this sweet older woman is actually a batshit crazy killer.

I'll give you the rednecks - they're WAY too much - but I didn't actually find the movie boring in any way. Opinions and all.

That's pretty much every 1980's F13 movie.

Yeah, but at least in the other movies you can still see a semblance of the deaths. In New Beginning, they're stripped so badly you can't even tell if someone actually died or not. Like the redneck son who has his head chopped off. If you blink or sneeze, you wouldn't have even noticed him dying.

Part 5 was perhaps the most heavily edited film in the series due to the unwanted attention it had because the MPAA discovered it's director (Danny Steinmann) had a controversial history which included a career in pornography. It also had the highest body count of any of the films to date (21 kills!). This caused them to come down even more heavy handed than they did in the prior films in the series.

The only films in the series that had more severe cuts than part 5 were the original film and part 7, and those can be argued, because it was part 5 that clearly suffered more than any of the other films in the franchise due to those cuts. The MPAA made them edit out everything from gore to twitching and spasms done by the actors to sell the kills.

THANK GOODNESS, they actually thought to include an alternate left gripping hand in the final packaged version so he can handle the garden shears properly. That hand was missing from the early preview shots (see below). Good show, NECA.

BTW, we're getting hammered with NECA Jason releases lately, one right after the other...and I love it! Reboot Jason, FvJ Jason, and now this. It'll be a bummer when the line goes on hiatus until the stupid old men fighting over the franchise rights finally get their shit together, but I'm enjoying the glut of releases while they last (we still have Corpse Pamela and Toony Terror Jason coming).
