Joining the Star Wars LMTD blasters comes the other crown jewel of sci-fi franchises: Star Trek!

Nerf LMTD Star Trek Starfleet Type 3 and Type 2 Phaser Blasters

The phaser rifle is a semi-auto flywheeler (like a Stryfe) with electronic lights and sounds for phaser firing & Borg-ification. It uses an internal magazine holding 5-darts. The hand phaser is a fancy Jolt.

While performance hasn't been a concern for the LMTD line (save for the Aliens Pulse Rifle) their prop replica status has been, with every blaster being a paint job away from convincing 99% of people it's not a foam flinger. To see the pattern break with this release is discomforting, and as a hardcore Trekkie it's supremely disappointing.

And while being powered by 4 AA batteries just barely brings other semi-auto flywheelers to playable FPS levels, the rifle expects to be able to bring lights and sounds to the table while also pushing the dart through a foot of useless barrel? The performance on this (five shot!) blaster is going to be a joke. Hot damn am I bummed, I am totally the target audience for this, and it's bungled top to bottom.

Not a Trekkie, so I'm not familiar with the guns. However, it seems you're right, I don't know what's that stuff in the back of the Type 3 rifle, is that supposed to simulate the rifle being beamed in?

As for the Type 2 phaser, it has always looks like a hair trimmer. Nothing can help that.

These are the versions introduced in the movie "First Contact", where the Borg are the villains, so it's supposed to be the phaser being assimilated by Borg tech, like this:

With some blocky texturing to replicate the surface of their ships:

But assimilating a phaser isn't something the Borg does. They assimilate people to turn into new Borg drones, and they'll assimilate ships to take control or utilize them as new hives, but individual weapons? That's never ever happened, except in a video game, so it's extra insulting. The tech is useless to them. I don't know why Hasbro thought this was a good idea. Scratch that: I don't know why they thought this wasn't a dumb idea. :/

So Star Trek items are designed by lonely housewives inspired by their daily items.

I wonder what daily items inspired this medical kit:

I always preferred phasers that looked like a cheesy futuristic handgun instead of the shaver ones.
