The Transformer's episode was definitely the best of the 2nd set of episodes. Peter Cullen's story about his brother was both poignant and inspiring, and it was cool to see how the first "transformer" was a retooled GI Joe.

As for the other three episodes, I watched them all and found them fairly enjoyable. However, except for Lego I found them to be odd choices. When you stack up all 8 properties, Star Trek and Hello Kitty stand out to me. I would have much rather seen a TMNT episode, as that line seems far more relevant when compared with the others.

I love Star Trek, but I've never really been into collecting the toys. Don't get me wrong, I had some, but they were never my favorites as a kid.

As for Hello Kitty, I mean...it's general merchandise more than toys, isn't it? I know there are some plush toys, but it's mostly like shirts, backpacks, lunchboxes, etc. Pogs are more toyetic than Hello Kitty, so this one struck me as odd. If they wanted to represent girl's toys, it's like they haven't heard of Cabbage Patch Kids or Beanie Babies.

Overall though I really enjoyed the series, and I'd love to see more of these done.

I met Dennis O’Neil years ago. His Transformers history is a little different. Kinda like asking Al Gore & GW Bush to discuss the 2000 election...

I’m totally for hello kitty, my little pony, cabbage patch, etc. My wife should see her childhood too.

Tmnt deserves an episode - started out as a parody of the dark hero comics of the 80’s , so does hotwheels. After that, it’s done... maybe mini episodes that cover slinky, silly putty, green slime, and playdough. Contrary to the thoughts of some, I don’t believe Dinoriders, thundercats, silverhawks, marvel, dc, etc deserve episodes, because they’re either capitalizing on a previous toyline as a knockoff or are designed merely as placeholders for a weekend cartoon block.

Surprised Lego didn’t mention the various Lego video games.. Starwars, Indy, Jurassic Park, and Lego Batman brought me back to the brand, and introduced the quirky humor found in all the Lego products, even the movie.

Just to be clear, I'm not downing girls toys being included in the series. Barbie is one of the better episodes in my opinion, and cabbage patch, beanie babies, my little pony, bratz, as well as others easily deserve a spot with the Gi Joe, He Man, Transformers etc. I'm just saying I don't find Hello Kitty to be particularly toy-centric compared with other series.

Not arguing with your point, just trying to make mine more clear.

In Asia it’s huge. Also in California, every mall it seems has a Sanrio store. Once you get off the west coast, it fades significantly. But there are a lot of toys. Plush, toy tea sets, little figurines, tons of stuff. I’m almost certain Nintendo/Gamefreak/Creatures gave a hard look at the Hello Kitty model when they started developing Pokémon.

Thankfully, to the best of my knowledge, there isn’t a Pikachu “shoulder massager”...

Imma be honest and say that the Lego episode slightly insulted me. I mean, Bionicle helps save your company, and you barely even give it a mention? A line that ran for 10 years?

Not only that, but they mainly use footage from the G2 Netflix series...I.E, the reboot that failed for multiple reasons(mainly story, the sets were legit).

Hello Kitty was also a really weird choice.

Really cool series, watched Star Wars of course, G.I. Joe and Star Trek.
I still need to watch the others, I will bypass Hello Kitty and Barbie.
Need too see Transformers and Lego's.

They need to do one on Marvel action figures... they can go from those crappy 90's figures with no articulation that you still see everywhere... to Toybiz Legends... to Hasbro Legends... to the death of MU. Then the very last shot is that 3.75" rainbow Deadpool pack that I actually saw at Target today for $75... crazy.

They have hinted on fb that marvel toys really don’t meet their criteria. These shows are about a toyline that conquers the world by surprise. Starwars was an unknown movie that created a marketing blitz that swept the nation. Star Trek was a crappy b movie level space soap opera that couldn’t get its marketing right until 30 years after it left the air.

Marvel is building on long accepted characters who have always been recognized since the 60’s.

Teenage mutant ninja turtles has a chance to be an episode, because they fit the mold of the show. What started as an adult independent comic that parodied the dark, gritty heroes of the 80’s, was turned into a saccharine-sweet silly kids cartoon and toy line that swept the world.

Why Wrestling toys? How big was WWE toys outside the US back then I wonder. And I always preferred Care Bears over MLP, even though MLP collectibles has like its own little cult like following which I will never understand.

Wrestling exploded in popularity with the mainstream during the 80s. With that popularity came a glut of merchandise, toys, etc. It was a big deal at the time for a while anyway. most likely it's going to be focused on WWE anyway, I can't imagine they'll get into the Remco AWA figures or any of the knockoffs.

I can't remember exactly, but my favs were Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man for WWE, but outside of those two I think I preferred WCW on TBS... Sting, Ric Flair, The Road Warriors, Hawk and Animal, etc. But I always thought professional wrestling was just a US and Japan thing.
