I have to imagine these (as well as the Bill and Ted's) will look very similar to Super7's ReAction line. Limited articulation, simple paint apps, etc. Really like the box art and the cgi mock up, liking the licenses they're getting, very interested to see how these turn out, may need to place an order and support them. I just have so many figures I'm waiting on through Kickstarter and the like, a bit apprehensive to pre-order more stuff that I may not have in hand for awhile.

Very cool, loved the first Heavy metal movie back in the day, I would like to see the figures first, before I fork out $30 each for them though, the zombie tailgunner does look really cool though, and the toybiz X-Men package throwback design is a cool touch.

$29.99 is way too much for 90's toybiz style figures.

I'm going to watch it again. I can only remember two of them, Taarna and ‘Nelson’ B-17 Zombie Tailgunner.

These are lame. Wouldn't it make more sense for the card art to look like a cover to the magazine or that iconic movie poster image of Taarna?

Could be fun- not sure on the style but... maybe if i see them in person. Wouldn't mind seeing figures from Love Death + Robots seeing as it's essentially "Heavy Metal" now.

Funny enough, originally they wanted it to be a new Heavy Metal but couldn't get studios to produce for that and then they lost the rights. Some of the episodes' designs would make for cool figures (like Sonnie's Edge) but I think most episodes didn't have enough weird/cool toyetic designs to warrant figures.

Taarna on the box art is drawn smaller chested than she was in the movie. The action figure should not be politically correct but faithful to the movie.

Why make overpriced figures for a scale no one really collects?

There weren't any, at least not any I've ever seen.

Also, IMO, the Taarna and zombie soldiers segments were probably the two most boring segments in the movie lol. |

I see a lot of people here disinterested in the look and price of these figures. I get it, I do. But I just gotta say, if they charged $30 for Loc-Nar and was just a green ball blistered to a card with zero accessories, I'd buy it in a heart beat. I'm a sucker for weird and random figures.

The price tag is inflated, for sure, but collectors can't have thought figs would be made that did the characters (and the artists that illustrated them) justice? Translations of classic artists like Corben and Liberatore, or newer standouts like Bisley were never going to be represented/reflected in the figs in this modern context.
Deecee4 noted the few figs from 20 yrs ago that did actually make an attempt to resemble the source art. However, even with Fakk2 having some commercial success with a toon and game, and a decent job being done on their translation, the characters were too obscure for buy-in from casuals. For what it's worth, the promo images look enough like the characters in question - at least I recognize them - to be moderately appealing. But, yeah, the price for what's been shown doesn't exactly jive... |

I've wanted a Taarna action figure for so long that I went ahead and pre-ordered this, sight unseen.
I once owned the Retroband Taarna figure, which cost me about 100 bucks, then I made the mistake of listing it on eBay and it sold for the opening bid of $50. I'm still sore about that, especially since it's almost impossible to find now. But this figure might eliminate that regret. The reason I sold the Retroband figure in the first place was that I couldn't bring myself to open it, and I doubt I'm going to care about that with this toy. |
