6 inchers are getting Netflix figures, and our likelihood of getting Netflix figures is about 0-0.

I've always seen people talk about shrinking figures. Would it be possible to shrink these figures piece by piece and put it together to make 3.75" ML's? ![]()

More likely they're at 50-50 now if 6'' is being made. If these do well, they may see that there is a market for them and become willing to test the 3.75'' scale too.

Who knows, maybe they're ready to unveil some 3.75" Netflix figures this year at SDCC and just haven't shown them!

Got home tonight to find the Post Office is holding a parcel for me. Based on the Tracking No quoted it looks like its the 3.75" Falcon. Will find out tomorrow.

That's cool. What did it even start out as I wonder.

Luckily the Netflix stuff is pretty visually boring tbh. We've yet to have one decent outfit. Maybe a Netflix Electra would be pretty cool. I'd buy a Jessica Jones but it's such an easy stand in thing.

Some of it's pretty easy to make too. Jessica Jones could be done from Agent 13's mold. Punisher they might be able to coat some corners because of his coat and arms at least, maybe his legs too. Luke Cage is pretty generic body figure too they might be able to use something from GI Joe for. Really only Daredevil and maybe elektra would need some thought into how to approach or all new molds.

On the BAF it's because doing a character like that in that scale may prove too annoying for the fans to purchase full sets if they aren't completionists. Especially if it's a much in demand character that should have his own figure. There's also the problem that the figures aren't designed in a way where putting them together is possible. It'd disproportionately stretch the cost of the figures as it is by increasing the volume.
Smaller figures like rocket, or howard the duck, or even Lockjaw are possible, but normal sized characters would end up as four pieces (Torso with arms, each leg, and the head). Which doesn't work very well for B-A-F. Larger scale figures can spread it out more like say if they did something close to the Incredible Hulk movie's scale for a character and could alleviate that, but not sure how much that'd increase already rising costs. The inbetween size would be an issue though. Like the current MU Thanos that was made as a carded figure. Where they can't evenly distribute the cost to each figure for each limb that well. A B-A-F is possible, but it'd require an entirely new type of assembly for the figure potentially. It's also highly annoying for fans that want that figure and not all the others though. So personally, I kind of thank them for that. It's one thing getting doubles in comic packs, it's another when you have to buy an entire case assortment to get one figure you want. The line was also supposed to stay slightly more kid friendly as something they could pick up their favorites to intermingle in with GI Joes, and the B-A-F fan driven business kind of takes away from that. Could you imagine how annoying that'd be for an infinity war movie, that the only way to get the 3.75'' line Thanos is to buy all the movie figures? Especially when fan favorites and shortpacked figures you may never find? Let alone how annoying that'd be for a kid that wants Thanos for his toys to fight, but their parents won't buy them all the toys since they have so many from previous movies? Better to single card those kind of figures. There were too many complaining about that already with Thanos in the 6'' legends line. As for the Modular Ironman though. That'd be awesome, but it'd be a hell of a lot of small parts to get lost and will get lost. And how much it might shatter if you dropped it and all that armor scatters everywhere to places unknown. The 3.75 isn't only for kids, but it does have to factor in that kids are a large chunk of the sales, and even us collectors sometimes have a habit of losing pieces too. So it's better to leave some of that to the more collector only centered lines that Japan does. It's a similar issue that the trans-armor die-cast Kamen Rider figures had and their audience and costs can better handle those kinds of demands. Toy Biz did something like that with the armor swap system from the 90s Ironman cartoon series line. Great figures, but even they had to tone it back from what they originally wanted to do because it wasn't cost-effective nor drop proof. I'd imagine the same would prove true here. |

it would appear that the 6" fan base is more vocal and gathering new fans at much greater rate than our line,in fact many people have defected over to 6".i really dont think it would be an issue for hasbro to make a BAF line happen, but the 3.75" line has been a pain in the ass for them financially its too late in the day for ideas like that now,id say this line has 2017 left then discontinued in 2018,the 6" line will be kept going simply because it sells.

Agreed. The 3.75" stuff sells pretty well here, if it was that bad they would have cancelled it already. Parents, kids and collectors buy the 3.75" stuff, easy sell vs a $20 figure. Well hopefully tomorrow we see some good stuff.

Yeah. It doesn't help that pretty much EVERYBODY that can be a voice for the collecting community has a 6 inch bias. I've talked about how designers should have a Twitter or something just for them to interact with their fanbase without any filters, and get the full picture, and it still applies(despite the pros and cons).

realistically it is not.and it shows when you compare both lines.there are many reasons why this is so and one of those reasons is people not wanting to pay the prices asked today,we have all seen it rise, but for a few dollars/euro extra you can get a 6" with a ton of accessories.
like i said earlier contract runs out in 2018,perhaps they are contractually obliged to keep it going till contract end.and sources have indicated that hasbro have enough work there to keep the line going till about that time,so lets see,its safe to say 2017 will be a decent year.but seeing as for 20 dollars you get a decent articulated figure with tons of accessories and a baf part it doesnt seem so bad.but for 13 you get a joe sized fig with mediocre articulation and no accessories?thats why the other line has snowballed in the past 3 years.id really like to see those sales records.plus the fact they cleverly intergrated the movie universe into their 6" waves, instead of creating multiple movie lines like what we got a few years back.they didnt sell so well as i recall, but everyone had a field day grabbing them a year later for next to nothing at tj maxx,5 below and stores like that. marked improvement on the line has seen an increase in sales.perhaps somebody who is in the know here could point you in the right direction as far as twitter is concerned.these guys have facebook accounts id imagine they are on twitter as well.as far as legends is concerned,i went the opposite route, dropped 6" for 4" kept the legends that work with universe.but i have seen a lot of universe collectors go over to legends in the past couple of years, its a continuing trend. |

Ten early morning thoughts on the SDCC 2016 Hasbro Marvel panel day
1. Netflix figures in 3.75"? Never ever ever happen. 2. 6" has a MUCH greater profit margin for manufacturers. Talking pennies more to make and package and almost double the wholesale cost. 3. 2018 Hasbro does lose its Marvel 3.75" contract. (Thank fuck for that) Time will tel of they renew it- smart money says no. D. Good to see us Raf!!! 5. Dwight Stall is getting most of us to defect. He is a Smurf that lies with barn animals. But he is winning. 6. Twitter account for them? It would be FULL of death threats and clown porn! Not gonna lie, a lot of it from me. I need something to do in my "me time", smoking crack and worshipping Satan has bored me. 7. That TMNT cockroach turtle four armed guy is cool. Nice job (I'm guessing) Pilk but ZERO idea as to what the he'll that character is about. I'm sure Uni will take some amazing shots of him though. His Dairy Queen is probably the busiest intergalactic timeline variable restaurant in the known toy verse. 8. Looking forward to midnight here in UK, when it is 4pm in California. Get to see the panel!!! Anyone have a link to a stream??? If so share it up! 9. Final chance for a SINGLE prediction.... I'll go, something with a realistic chance- I'm hoping for a female (as there seems to be a lot of them conning around since Hasbro was publicly ridiculed after Rae in TFA)... I'm going CRYSTAL. (and with a yellow female buck we can make a POSABLE version of Hellcat.... warm and fuzzy feeling, yea) 10. Anyone else have a last minute prediction???
