Got the latest wave from an Ebay seller. Not too bad, actually like the Rogue, as a MOSC collector they look very nice.

So four new figures have come out in our scale in the last three months, and half the posts in the last three days are people bitching and knit picking over the validity of other people's posts.... Really, and sadly, if people didn't BS, joke around and double post ( lookin at u UKMU) the discussion would die! C'mon hasbro! Crank out some product! I found the quasar wave at TRU Sunday 40% off, but I noticed my enthusiasm was really shot. Honestly I feel like I'm buying out of habit. I've been with this line sence the beginning and truly loved it but lately I just see so much wasted potential, short cutting, and a feel like hasbro is trying to kill the 3.75 world whit shitty inconsistent style,( bishop and morbius look like cartoons) cut backs on paint, articulation, accessories, and card art. And rediculous pricing ( I paid less for a 6" falcon than a 3.75 one, and the 6" one is way better). I hope the upcoming figures we saw at SDCC turn it around ( who knows, if the trend of the last few years keeps up we won't even get half the stuff were shown). My point is the state of the 375 world is dismal, so if people want to make soft sword jokes to keep talking more power to ya!

I don't blame anyone here, I just don't post anymore because there is nothing on the topic to talk about, and if you get off topic the topic poliece whine. I love looking at the customs and all, but the custom thread gets ignored nowadays because we put them up here... Because hasbro has mistaken us for a toilet.

I don't post much in here anymore because there just doesn't seem to be much of a line for me to talk about. I did buy the new set from BBTS months ago (Rogue, Quasar etc ) but that's the first time more than one or two figures at most has appealed to me.
Beyond that I bought Captain Marvel, Living Laser, Gamora, the Thor comics set and the Captains comics set earlier this year. I have passed up twice on buying the three new comics packs because they don't interest me. SDCC showed me all of one figure I'm interested in getting: ANAD Wolverine. I'm not saying the line itself is dead. I'm just saying the direction they're going in is not for me, it appears. It may be wonderful for others and I'm not going to pass judgement or anyone for that, everyone's opinion is right for them. I just feel like i have nothing to really talk about in this line anymore. |

Easy solution. So then post more pictures of figures and discuss the figures you like. You know, the whole point of this as an appreciation thread.
The topic doesn't need to stay in the side bar for bumped posts if there's nothing to post or nothing to share or ask about. It doesn't need to be bumped by multi-spam posts either. So what if it drops down to some of us having to use the normal forum interface to post something relevant. That's normal forum stuff. Inflating the page count with multi-spam-posting doesn't provide anything people that would check this topic would want to see, which is usually pictures or discussion about the figures or media forms themselves. And multi-spam posts don't really bump the topic anyway when they're all done within less than 15 minutes of each other. If you're talking hours where other topics have had posts that made it drop off the side bar, then okay sure, whatever. But 5-8 double posting in under an hour or half-hour, is excessive and doesn't provide 'bumps' that matter. Double posting can happen. Especially if someone asked something you didn't see because you were posting something else. And multi picture posting may have beneficial effects for browsers and mobile as Plikster pointed out. Otherwise, the smart thing is to use the "multi-quote" button and read through from what you missed, and then reply to all of the multi-quotes you hit. We did get a whole tutorial on helping improve some figures from Mordiganne. And comedic commentary is natural forum stuff, though should stay within reason if we want to foster an inclusive environment for collectors of all types or ages. We're still here sharing what we love, or trying to at least. So the toys have slowed for now. Not really a big deal, they'll pick up again. It comes in waves because of how the market itself works. It'll pick back up in pace when the retail market can hold it stronger again. Hasbro is already showing signs that might be the case later with expanding their 3.75''-4'' design teams as worthwhile information that was provided in this topic earlier too. We've had the market flooded with our scale for years. It toned down because of over-saturation. That saturation is finally tapering off and the backlog is caught up. Then the cycle will repeat. It's normal market fluctuations that happens across a lot of brands from all companies. Halo mega bloks have gone through it, so have Transformers, and even GI Joe is running through a market shift currently hopefully before it comes back to shelves in a big way. We should appreciate what we've had, and what's still to come. Not whine about why we aren't getting preferential treatment. Enjoy what you enjoy. Overall, I'm starting to think maybe toyark could get an improvement from getting an overhaul like TFW2005 did. The ignore system is much more thorough, and the ease of registering fosters more new blood, which could grow the informative discourse more. And there's also an interesting debate point on the side bar removal. In one instance it creates ego and superficial drives to 'remain on top' but it was initially there to show what people are talking about now, and where their interests direct them to talk about as potential prevalent market checks by outsiders as well as draw in new users because some topics of discussion may be to their interests. Which in instances of this topic has devolved into whining about lower figure numbers and blaming hasbro for that when it's normal toy market stuff that even Toy Biz faced while they were in the midst of their boom(pre-legends era). After multiple reported posts, a few inappropriate/way off topic posts have been removed, as well as those responding to it.

Boy snow, you should write a book on moderating forums, oh wait you already did. It'll be a great follow up to your other collected works titled: "what everyone should think feel and say" and " expert in toy markets, a reexamination of the obvious" but seriously, 2011 was a down shift in the MU line, that I can except, hell it was a wallet relief, but sence the rebrand it's been a constant series of slaps in the face. I just really think when vonner left the passion went with him. I got use to getting figures that I would look at and see in the detail and engineering and paint that someone really put a lot into and worked hard to put out a great product.... Now I see mostly boardroom level cuts and lazy kitbashs that most of the customizes on here blow out of the water. I guess if there is something good to be said of the ruining of the line its that most of us are getting handy with a blade and brush.

I really liked Mattel's Secret Wars line, which were Marvel characters btw. It proved that you could reuse basic bucks and not all characters NEEDED to be custom sculpts. A good balance of this would make this line great.

Anyone notice how redwing from the minimates falcon is actually in scale with the 3.75" falcon? Only real issue is that it's black.

Hi guys checking in ..and sounds like everyone is feeling the same way or voicing what I've been feeling disenchanted. I've seen the new gifs and it's hard with the quality to pull the trigger with the price point.I used to be so excited.

I'd wondered where you'd gotten to. Good to see you in here again. Yeah, I feel much the same way. I guess I'm to the point of enjoying the figures I have and just doing customs for what I don't. I am no longer expected much from Hasbro for this line, they are very much focused on 6 inch figures. Which I do collect and love but I would like more balance.

If anyone's doing a MCU guardians custom, the new Disney Tsum Tsum rocket comes with a baby griot that scales perfect.

Finally got a civil war falcon. Not a bad figure but his shades head could be a tad tighter

Beside the paint, are there much differences between the MCU Falcon figures?

Oh that's what I meant, the older figures versus the Civil War one. How the backpack/wings are different? Is the costume/sculpting the same? Things like those.

I think the head with the goggles MIGHT be reused(don't know for sure since I don't have the figure yet), but general observation reveals it to be a completely different and more accurate sculpt otherwise.

Stopped at the nearest TRU 15 miles away on the way to a doctor's appointment and finally found a B.P. and Agent 13 pack. Not real impressed with the agent 13 figure which is who I bought the pack for. Didn't really need two but this Black Panther though even with less articulation I may like this one better than my 09 version.

Anyone have an agent13 figure they don't want? I don't actually want the figure since I don't collect mcu (will take it if I have to, can make her into something more appealing), but I need the dual holsters w/guns for custom purposes.
The time between waves is always slow on message boards. It's just how it is. I really do feel for you folks that just want to buy and collect. I have to say I'm really enjoying the hobby these days, but I rarely buy any new stuff anyway. Creating new figures has made this hobby very enjoyable for me since I can make who I want, when I want and, most importantly, in the outfits I want them in. That alone keeps me in the game. That said, the next batch will be done soon. Waiting on some final parts to arrive next week. |

Nice spider collection, Pilk! I see you finished your old school Scorpion. I haven't started mine yet. I have something specific in mind for his tail that I haven't had the chance to look for yet. Are you going to make a spider gwen?
Speaking of spider characters, can anyone find some good images of Julia carpenter as Madame Webb? I'm going to make one but can only find one pic and I want more than one reference pic to get a good feel for the outfit/design. |
