Thanks but I don't want to acquire two figures to get the parts I need. That's why I am after the entire figure in one go. If I just get the head then I still have to track down the rest after the fact.

Meant to post this the other day...

I've been asked about commissions again lately, so here are my ground rules:

First and foremost: I DO NOT PROVIDE THE BASE FIGURE PARTS!
*If you want a character made, tell me who the character is and what outfit/costume and I will let you know exactly what I will need to make it. From there you can either buy the bits and send them or pay me UPFRONT to acquire them. Those are the only options! I'm not about to lose money for this.*

Second: It's a flat $50 (on top of the parts) to actually MAKE a figure (due upon completion of the figure - this does NOT include shipping to wherever you are, so be aware of that too).
*I'm not charging for paint or sculpting materials or any of that. This is just for my time which is more valuable to me than anything else in life. So factor that in if you want to go this route.*

Third: No trades, no deals, no haggling. This is non-negotiable!
*I'm not running a business nor am I actually trying to provide a service here, but I will treat any deals like I was. Meaning, I provide a product, you pay for it.*

Lastly: I reserve the right to pull the plug on a deal at any time.
*If you're impatient or just become annoying, the deal will be dropped and I'll return whatever parts and pieces to you in whatever state they're in when that decision is made. I've no time or interest in dealing with that sort of nonsense. I'll gladly eat the cost of shipping to return the parts to not have to deal with the annoyance of someone agitating me over little plastic people.*

So, those are the rules. All told you'd be looking at *approx* $100 in total depending on the character - less if you already have the parts on hand.

Having been on both sides of the toy collecting spectrum I've never seen a group of people complain so much about products. And yet they still drop gobs of money hand over fist to buy the same junk they spent ridiculous amounts of time complaining about "having to buy" in the first place.

It's fascinating and a little sad (pathetic maybe?) at the same time.

As much as the 6” collectors are getting any completionist would be broke by the staggering amount of product being made in that scale.

I guess the flip side is that I’m not spending ANYWHERE near what I used to spend on figures with hasbro skipping 3.75” figures.

Remember the old adage: People are never truly happy unless they have something to complain about. It is the same as how do you truly know you really are happy if that is all you have ever felt? The internet just makes this worse. Now everyone feels compelled to participate and all they have to participate with are their complaints, so everyone complains. I began collecting in the era of toy magazines and we still had just as many complaints, maybe more, but we just did not have any outlet for them. Simple answer; it is the internet's fault.
I am probably spending the same on figures, just not on Hasbro figures, because Hasbro is failing to deliver what I want, and since Dwight Stall is the head decision maker at Hasbro, that makes him a failure. For some reason, just saying that makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over.

Shoot not only did Dwight kill G.I. Joe and then Marvel 3.75, but it looks like he is managing to put the nails into the Star Wars 3.75 coffin as well.

Agreed.
Yet Hasbro doesn't seem to need any 3.75 inch money given the sheer amount of 6 inch product they are pushing for Marvel and other licenses like Star Wars and Overwatch.

I also agree.
While it will be an even sadder day in history to lose the Star Wars 3.75 inch line, at this rate, I wouldn't be surprised.

Granted, I did hope for a final MU SDCC exclusive to commemorate Avengers EndGame. But I must confess, I'm not disappointed.

At the same time, I do not envy Marvel Legends. The 6 inch scale's popularity has made it a hotbed for scalpers and equally aggravating (not to mention expensive) for diehard fans to acquire their 'must haves'.

They too will fall. A saturation point is Thanos (inevitable).

I got the whole Kree series for $60 ($10 each)
it already is over saturated
I don't get why any ML collector would pay $20+ when most if not all can be had for $10 or less

I know this make me sound like a whiny fanboy, but I really don’t get why there are no 3.75 figures. I can get Marvel figures in any shape or scale I want but not in arguably the most iconic scale? There are even multiple companies making 6 inch figures when you include the Japanese companies. Even DC has managed to keep 3.75 figures trickling out and the scale was never really associated with DC. Heck two different manufacturers showed off 3.75/ 4 inch DC figures at SDCC, but Marvel gets nothing.

The action figure market is full of scales and styles and there isn’t room for 4 inch figures. If you look at it logically it makes no sense. Sure someone could argue the retail 4 inch market is dead, but not even a collectible line? Is it just because Hasbro’s contract is so solid that no one else can make figure? I can’t believe someone wouldn’t love to make a high end Marvel line or a retro 5 POA line. Not that I want that, but with all of the other crap out there a 4 inch line is a no go?

its because the 3.75 contract ran out and hasbro did not see the point in renewing it.
and who wants to commit to a line that has probably one of the worst fanbases attached to it?

There are only so many characters that everybody wants. The rest are characters that only a few people want and therefore do not justify the cost of making. There will be a point where all of the characters everyone wants have all been done. Saturation. It will happen.

That doesn’t make sense. My point was really scale. I can go out and buy several different scales and then multiple versions of characters in specific scales, but no 4 inch? 6 inch fans can probably get a dozen current Iron Man figures in 6 inch scale. I just don’t buy that the Marvel fan base will support that and not one 4 inch Iron Man.

Maybe someone could generate a petition respectfully requesting some Marvel action figure love at this scale and send it to Jesse Falcon, director of Marvel hard line merchandizing world wide. https://youtu.be/vukRMFA3GU8 Good luck trying to get support for signing the petition.

I would sign, but it would not be a good idea for me to write it. Respect is earned and Hasbro did not earn mine by leaving Dwight in charge.

Bobby Vala, who used to work on the line, discussed this when people asked why his new line of figures are also 6 inch instead of 4.

Quote:
I appreciate and respect your point of view but I want to give you some insight so you know the actual facts. Yes, 4" fans are loyal however, there just aren't enough of you out there. It is my favorite scale but the sad truth is that is doesnt sell well. Sure it sells well to the 1500 collectors out there but thats nowhere near enough for a company like Hasbro to support the scale. I worked on Marvel Universe and sadly saw it dwindle down to a shell of what it was. This was because they were too expensive to produce compared to a 6" figure and the retailers didnt want 4". I'm not talking out of my ass here, these are facts. If and when Joe comes back I have a feeling its not going to be what the fans want. Its unfortunate that the 3.75" ARAH days are done and there is no one left at Hasbro that cares about it. Joe will something new and either people will get on board or they wont.
Unfortunately it does sound like it came down to a money thing.
