What the hell were they thinking having red hulk punch a watcher, just seems silly. Are watchers even tangible?

Yeah, Thanos would have been a better "the Master " for Dave Tenant to battle.
Daleks look like rolling toasters compared to the mad god/ last time lord.

Hmm... Converting Marvel Universe to an Avengers line
Pro 1. Maybe Walmart in my city will carry the figures now. The biggest questions are: Will we see characters who aren't in the Avengers or their direct villains? AND Will they re-release the same Avengers characters from the movie in mass that will choke the line or will there be mixture like the Marvel Universe. |

Marvelousnews.com is reporting that Marvel Universe is dead, rechristened as Avengers. I dont know if this will change the character selection or not, but its supposed to be the same style, and ment to make retailers pick them up. I'm not as pleased with this, because again, I dont know if we'll get more new characters or end up with the same avengers over and over.

Thanks for the update. I'm definitely not happy that the line is ending or switching names as it were, but I am happy that the figures will continue. All I can do is stay positive and hope that we'll continue to get new characters from throughout the Marvel U and not just Avengers-centric characters.

I got more word from cooltoyreviews forums
Marvel Universe - Page 1282 The Avengers line will ONLY be Avengers themed Characters starting in 2014, and then the second year will ONLY be x-men themed characters for 2015. The final MU Wave is Aurora, Northstar, Black Knight, Omega Red, and X-Force Nightcrawler. I'm not a fan of the themed thing, but if they give us all new characters, and atleast 5-6 waves, AND they give us Captain Marvel in wave 1, I will not complain.

All I can say is Wasp better **** well be in that first wave under the Avengers rebrand. That and poor Polaris, shafted again. ![]() Actually one more thing to add. it's odd that X-Men will be the 2015 releases considering that Avengers 2 will be out. But oh wait, Avengers 2 will also have its own toyline I'm sure. |

I love watching people knee jerk react to the steady dribble of info from sdcc.
The re-brand of MU means one thing is for certain...all those MOC collectors are going to get shafted by ebay and re-sellers as a cancelled line immediately spikes the collectibilty. Had a hope of ever getting that MOC solid Vision? Consider it driven back into the mud. It also pains me to see the paucity of imagination amongst comic book fans, an Avengers-themed line-up is pretty dang expansive considering practically every hero has been an Avenger and almost all villains have clashed with them at some point. The X-Men themed year also sounds fantastic, sure, you'll get a Wolverine and a Cyclops in there but imagine how many other X-men there are. Also that confirms they'll be producing 3.75" figs until 2015 at least. What's not to like? |

The problem with that would be further retailer confusion over the lines, and/or hesitance to carry the xmen line if they have leftover stock of the xmen movie line. |

It's almost like they'll have to sell toys to kids or something crazy to make money, rather than satiate a few die-hard collectors that really, really want their baffling and niche figures. We are not the intended audience for the future of small-scale figures but we're far from getting effed in the A. Marvel movies are here to stay and the more Thor, Cap and Iron Man they can sell the greater the chances of them paying lip service to we the few, the hardcore. I don't see the sense in calling conspiracy though. Didn't Legends seemingly die a death only to burst resplendent back into the hearts and minds of collectors? That Thunderbolt's set is brilliant and i'd love to see an MU version but it's ultimately about sales and profit. Our little plastic obsession is subject to the whims of capitalism so take what you can. The line could be dead in totality, although many of you are already grieving.

You make a post like this after talking about people have no imagination and how can we doubt they won't pull from their library. You just stated the point everybody is making. Nobody is calling conspiracy. They are being realistic on the prospect of what's to come.

What I really fear is going to happen? It's going to be more like 16 of the character slots will be taken up by the core 8, and likely 8 repaints, leaving room for two brand new figures each year. There's some realism to that. Ugh. Looks like I'll likely be saving some money after this year. ![]() |

The writing has been on the wall since Vonner left,Hasbro is just now putting out the final figures that Vonner had in the pipeline.Hope the Avengers line turns out to be more along the line of MU and not the current Wolverine , IM 3 waste of Plastic. I dont know why Hasbro just doesnt do a Collectors line that caters to Collectors only, They could distribute them through Hasbro Toy Shop or through specialty stores(ex. BBTS) they could release them with a limited run with a price point probably abt $20.00
Could maybe do 1 a month. Would be willing to bet would do REALLY WELL. |

I'd be okay with a collector's line, at $20 or even $25 per figure one per month, either as a buy as you go or a subscription, provided that if it were a subscription there were no repaints or repeats on existing figures.
I know I don't post often on here, usually only around SDCC or NYTF, but I've been a huge figure collector of Marvel, GIJOE and Star Wars both as a kids and for the last 15 years of my adult life. Having watching SW and GIJOE basically go belly up as far as collecting goes, I've held on to hoping that MU and ML would continue to flesh out my collection, even if I had to order everything online (which has pretty much been the case for the last year or two for MU anyways.) Hearing this news really breaks a collectors heart. Sorry, gotta go search for some good customizers now.... |

Here is what I don't get: even with the mentioned issues - distribution, figures not selling, etc - this line seems to be VERY successful for its modest run. Even peg warmers sell through eventually. Ironically, the Avengers line was the one that didn't sell! Spider-Man movie figures don't sell. Im3 don't sell. MU seems to outsell these lines ( at least the single figures do) EXCEPT when these lines venture out of the movie characters and do comic inspired figures.

Good point, it's like we're all just nerds talking shit on the internet without any real information to go on...yet.
All I know is I love toys and Marvel comics so as long as I can put little plastic guys on a shelf i'm happy. If that's a hundred Wolverine's then cool, if they look good and connect me to the art of comic-book story telling then i'm happy. I can't say I know anything about this Vonner guy or what the distribution issues are in the US. I live in the UK so get a little tired of hearing people lamenting how they can only find certain figures from recent waves when Brits are lucky to even see the MU figures in the wild. Sorely tempted to chew the head off my solid Vision and give my deathmask Archangel to a five-year old just to make a point. They're toys. If the line dies or evolves into something else then so be it, it's not sad or heart-breaking in the grand scheme. It's more exciting to me that Hasbro have attempted to push the line out to a wider audience. As someone that loves toys I can't lament more toys coming out. The thing that amuses me and perturbs me is the sense of entitlement people have regarding what companies should be doing for them. You could get a line of core Avengers over and over or you could have a range of core characters and collector focused characters AS WELL. Just be happy you have the luxury to be concerned over this utterly pointless argument rather than something that actually means something. Geeks, I love ya and hate ya in equal measures! |
