Anyway here's my Carol doing important Ultimates work. ![]() Tbh it looks pretty cool even when the paint is a little scuffed up. It's a really nice design that translates well to simple toy form. The hair looks better in person than photos, I don't know how to describe it. but it looks basically like slightly more realistic Super Saiyan hair which is very fitting, like she's about to go Binary. Speaking of talent that is one bomb America Chavez!

Very true. I don't mind them. Though there are some characters beyond me. I really want a Kingpin and I just can't quite get behind the old Toy Biz figure. Also the Vort cast is nice but $50 for an unpainted figure and then $20-$40 to commission a paint job and you are looking at a $70-$90 figure that might take close to a year to get once it is cast and then sent somewhere to be painted. I keep looking at the Danny DeVito 4 inch Penguin and trying to figure a way to make him into a Kingpin.

Picked up Yondu, Ulik and Panther at another TRU today. They had 2 cases worth out but no CM. Looks like she will be the hot one this case.

My fav. Wasp and Ant-man are the ones that were posted earlier, from that Toybiz set. They're undersized obviously but that's the point. I've lost my Wasps's head though, will have to go look.

I've said it before and I'll continue saying it; size changing character figures are the best, because no matter what scale you collect, they always fit your collection.

Yeah, which is just as well since Ms. Marvel is probably going to get an ML and not an MU

Thank you. It needs some touching up though, got some random black splotches on it. Not sure if I should have made the jacket as baggy/ill-fitting either. It just reminded me of teen girls when I was younger(including myself) who'd wear these oversized jackets and hoodies and shove stuff on the inside pocket. I need to change the earrings too, these look like they're made of bone which is kind of badass but I don't think she's quite that hardcore.

Ok so here's my rant... What do we have to do to get some fukn torso articulation... Oh just give up the leg articulation on hydro man. I mean come on really hasbro? Is it going to break the profitability to keep some decent movement in the 3.75" toys? I suppose it will when the 6" dolls come with so much more and now they are making 12" dolls... What's next... 1:1 size dolls... Oh wait never mind they are starting down that path... Just look at all these fantastic customs/ kit bashes above, and do exactly that. It really pisses me off that someone had to try and reinvent the wheel and make that atrocious buck that the vulture came on. Sorry if I'm being over the top or too critical, but I feel like hasbro needs to listen to the fans or we will start leaving. Sorry people I'm just passionate about this line and I have really enjoyed it since its inception, I just wish they put someone in charge who championed the 3.75" toys more. Otherwise I'll spend my money elsewhere or just save it. Rant over.

You're free to express your opinion and to not spend your money. That's the best way to express it. But really, it's business. If the profit was with this scale they'd push it more. Hasbro doesn't care about any scale, they care about what's going to make them the most money. And what makes 6" or 12" dolls but not 4"? And why is doll a pejorative for you?
There is no logical reason other than pure bias to not share the wealth in continuing in your already successful line (4") and do what you do with Legends. I mean how many waves has Legends had this year alone? This is an absurd tipped scale that no one can deny unless you're in denial. We are shafted, not by cost, not by distribution, but by bias torwards our line. Hasbro could care less like I said; because they have handed the keys to the castle to a Legends-biased pompous ass. |

Hasbro may not care about scale but the dude running Legends is going out of his way to crush 3.75, when they were the draw to many new collectors (me included). I'm a 3.75 scale guy because I was an 80s kid that adored GiJoes. Like many of us, this is our scale and we were always kicking butt wave after wave, even if it was the 10th Spiderman. We still got new stuff; until homeboy in Legends made it his prerogative to exalt Legends and forsaking MU turning into a shadow of it's former self

That's the story people like to tell...
As a consumer, they sold well, until they fired Vonner. And star wars is no testimony to what MU was. star wars toys suck outside of a select few Black Series with extra articulation. |

And sales seem to be doing just fine post-Vonner. The line is still going, so retailers are still buying it enough to justify its production. It's selling well enough that retailers have enough confidence to pick up Comic Packs as an expansion of it again, something that the end of Vonner's run did no favors. Do you have any evidence beyond anecdotal to support a decline in sales post-Vonner? |

To be fair, Dwight has went on record saying, " 3.75 for kids and 6" for collectors" more than once. In fact this ToyFair he introduced the 6" stuff saying, for true collectors. Take that as you will, but I consider it an insult.
A small hobby of mine is following Hasbro from a business standpoint. I even have a few shares invested. The sales for Marvel specific lines vary widely even from the source. There is no smoking gun to point in either direction pre and post Vonner. My educated guess would be, yes sales dipped BUT after he left (call it Devine Timing) the movie lines came out. With the runaway success of the Avengers Assemble film being the number three Christmas toys for 2012. It is that line that drew me into the toy game myself. Marvel has just recently become so mainstream it isn't even a side thing anymore. Things were better with MU, that is a fact, by better I mean 'happier'. Distribution, card art and articulation all suffered BADLY under the failed MI brand. Vonner leaves the line becomes MI and goes from Wasp to Vulture in a few years on Dwight's watch. He does snicker at 3.75" publicly and has said that he keeps 6" figures. All that data points toward Universe being closer to right than he is wrong. That said,at least wave one of MLS has seen improved card art, distribution and articulation is slowly returning. Yea it is about profit and NOT about bias of a single person. Shit sucks right now and it is fun and very trendy to "internetty" and bash Hasbro and Dwight. They've taken so much from us ArsGratiaArtis.... must take this from us?!? ![]() I would like to start a rumour that Dwight Stall is a cross dressing nazi who beats dogs and is responsible for ozone depletion.

The relative quality of Star Wars toys has little to no bearing on Dwight Stall's alleged desire to crush our scale not being evidenced at all in his tenure with that brand. If he was so determined to rid the world of 1:18 you'd think he'd have done something about it when in charge of one of the biggest 1:18 brands. And yet, no 6" GI Joe, no 6" Star Wars until well after his stewardship.
And sales seem to be doing just fine post-Vonner. The line is still going, so retailers are still buying it enough to justify its production. Do you have any evidence beyond anecdotal to support a decline in sales post-Vonner? Just now are we seeing a new wave after what feels like ages Trust me, I'm glad we have SOMETHiNG. Considering I had to get my last two waves online, it shows a MAJOR decline in our line even being present in stores. You like Dwight, I get it. He's made Legends the hottest thing in stores for Marvel collectors, be happy. But please don't think he's on our side. UKMU has already noted his disdain for the line. There is no argument that can support his favor in us. The sheer amount of Legend reveals alone (and more to come) should tell you that versus our one reveal, Agent 13. Sum up my argument: Loss of articulation, production (sparsed out waves), and introduction of 6" Legend accessories, 2.5" line, Mashers, Titans, and soon to be marvel Barbies, we can see why our line is cutout of the party. They have focused on other things. Last edited by Universe; 02-16-2016 at 01:17 AM.. |
