Electro from Asda. Back at the start. I ended up clearing almost everything they had (Namor, DD, Spidey...). I told a friend that they would never make the figures I would want, and he asked what they were... "Wrecking Crew, Vintage Captain Britain..." and he said "I think they're making the Wrecking Crew in the Secret Wars comic packs"... and that was all he needed to say to hook me completely. Still waiting for a Titania and Molecule Man though!

"Two waves of under-articulated yet under-apprepriated gold" Couldn't have said it better, UKMU. i enjoyed that line for those very reasons, the hidden gems. In fact, Phoenix Bow Hawkeye is my favorite figure despite being a repainted movie body. His quiver was full and his new headsculpt matched his updated costume which i preferred over the classic.

As for my first Marvel Universe figure, it was Spidey. Given it was during a time before i looked to the net for any action figure news, i was pleasantly surprised to discover Marvel superheroes in a scale i wouldn't have expected while shopping at WalMart. Eureka!

I should add that the Iron Man from that line made a good base for a Cybus Cyberman...And a good clip swap for Cap's shield. Still need to grab all of the important figures from that line, actually.


My first MU was the blue and red Ultimate Spider-man from Amazon. I was, at the time, trying to expand my range in stop motion animation from what I could do with Lego, and Spidey, whilst impressive, didn't get me hooked. The hook for me was the Modular Armor Iron Man, a figure that is still in the main display to this day. That got me hooked to action figure collecting, though it was 6 inch Marvel Legends that got me hooked on the 1/18th.


(That last line, for those who don't get the joke, was meant as a dig at 6 inch Marvel Legends)

started with the avengers figures. got everyone except for black widow and loki (found them later at kmart). then for comic figures it was the ironman/thor two-pack that I bought on impulse. still kicking myself for that. should've just stuck with movie figures like I had originally planned dammit...

My first figures were in fact four - Wolverine vs. Captain America and Thor vs. Iron Man - I thought it would be neat to let them interact with Cobra Desert and Arctic Assault Squads that I bought out of nostalgia. Also - Thor came with both legs left...

Toons and toys surely also bred many a Millennial. X-Men the 1992 Animated Series was born 25 Years ago. If the (pictured) cosplayers are age 25, and enjoyed toons in 1992-1997, then its perfect timing / perfect sense.

Millenials are those same kids, who enjoyed those kid toons and kid's toys. Made a success out of Toy Biz. They genuinely geek-out when I go to the register and cashiers beam at MU Jubilee, Jean Grey, Rogue, Storm, Mystique, etc. Millennials can positively help "our" 3.75 inch toyline. Especially if carded like "their" good old Toy Biz.

I truly can't remember my first actual MU figure. My first 3.75" figs; avengers iron man, avengers ultimate hawkeye, XMO Deadpool. May of possibly, maybe, been TRU LUB Black Panther. Iron man was purchased from Tesco or Argos online, the rest, Ebay.

I had bought my son, 4 at the time, a Doctor Doom MU figure at Tesco. Keep remember seeing Luke Cage and several others. I had a Secrect Wars Doom as a kid and LOVED it. The chest paint wore off almost immediately but he was my buddy. If I was allowed a single pocket toy, it was gonna be him. I made a Doom mask for Halloween that year even! Didn't get any other Marvel toys ever and never read a comic book. Always had found memories of my Doom though. I bought only that MU for nostalgia for him and for me. I was a GI Joe nutter and Star Wars figures as a kid. I loved the mother scale.

Fast forward a couple of years and Avengers Assemble came out. Didn't see it at cinema but bought it on DVD when released and we loved it!!!! Thought I would get him some toys for Christmas to play Avengers. I then scored the £80 Helicarrier for £40 worth of "club card points" on a pre Christmas sale so basically zero money out of pocket. Thought...great, I can get him 3.75" really cheap and dip in and buy a few and be done. Always want a few BIG boxes to open at Christmas for the WOW factor when you first see them.

Then we started watching EARTHS MIGHTIEST HEROES and I wanted to get him all the AVENGERS after watching that. Little DoD I know, ALL the Avengers is about 75 figures! I wanted a Maria Hill so bad for him. After seeing she was about $200 at the time, I found Vort via custom head casts of Maria. Talked to him about it and he suggested I check out a site called MUCollectorClub and I liked it there. Then JimmyO suggested ToyArk to me as they had a UK Marvel Universe thread with a guy called Jackie Boy that I would like. I immediately did. I started coming here more than there. Just felt one of the gang and grew to the UKMU you all are forced to contend with today. Writing long stories about nothing.

So the "cheap" big Christmas present almost 5 years ago has cost me about £1000 a year buying figures and playsets and vehicles and customs and random shit to go with it with no end in sight!

I could be wrong, but I think he was jokingly referring to the Captain America two pack. Calling Falcon-Cap - Papa Doc since many of us first saw Anthony Mackie in that roll on 8 mile. Vance Astro is Zentai Cap since he resembles a generic Japanese style superhero with the reb, white, and blue motif.

Does the X-Men Origins line count as MU? If not my first figures were either Punisher with the black boots and gloves or the Spider-Man/Thunderball Secret Wars pack. I can't remember which one I got first.

EDIT: Several indicia point to the fgures being 3.75 inches! It is not confirmed yet but it seems that our scale is not dead yet!

We were stunned that they showed up here first.

The packaging template is almost identical to the current two packs we've now been getting so I'd say 3.75". Just using the box as reference Hasbro's recent 6" multipacks don't have that hangtab extension on the top.

If you look at the box of is clearly NOT 3.75".

Two factors that made me believe beyond a possible shadow of a doubt, besides the original information saying I is 6" and scores of 6" collectors claiming it. I have listed these before, but will do here as well.

#1. The information card is at least much BIGGER than a business card. Agree? Any smaller anyone would struggle to read it. So at a minimum say 3" (although my personal guess is closer to 4") If you have ever seen anything displayed in a cabinet I am sure you have seen a display card with information on what it is. They are always bigger than a business card. The figures are clearly twice as high as said card. If they were in our scale, the card would be two inches and unreadable at that distance.

#2. The Mega-Man reflection. On the right side of the photo, the card art is reflected on the glass. You can clearly see the artwork is relatively close to the figure size...agreed? With in a few millimetres I would say. Ok.... see the reflection of the mans arm on the right side of the box? You can clearly see his left shoulder and bicep in the reflection. Now.... look at his arm and look at the Mega-Man reflection...pretty darn close, agreed? I.don't own any 3.75" figures that go from near my shoulder to elbow. However, a six inch figure could fit that description.


Conclusion... unless it is a regular business card with ALL that writing so clearly legible and the guy in the pic is about five years old.. it HAS to be a 6" figure.

The peg hook is larger because it is 2 figures. Also the weight is on either end and not in the centre. It would HAVE to be larger to accommodate the extra weight and the "swing" when moved on a peg.
