The Black Widow trailer released today made me pull out my team of 1970’s era Soviet Super Agents.
My Marvel/GI Joe toy-verse is perpetually set in the 80s, with the Fantastic Four’s fateful flight happening in 1979 and includes some of my other 70s and 80s toy characters adapted to fit the setting.
I looked at the early first appearance BW designs and found the fishnets and cape-let design lacking, so I designed a look that kept the domino mask of the original BW (which I thought also tied her in to the Winter Soldier nicely) and gave her a version of the catsuit which brought the Widow design to the fore. I had contemplated giving her the black hair she had in her original appearances, but decided it would make her look too much like a Cat Woman knockoff.
Red Guardian is a slight repaint with a custom shield, and the Winter Soldier remains unchanged, except for exchanging his Mauser C96 pistol for a more appropriate Tokarev TT-33.
Pulsar, the Ultimate Soviet Man is my adaptation of Mattel’s Pulsar Ultimate Man of Action figures from the 70s, an attempt to compete with Kenner’s Six Million Dollar Man line. Here he is the communist version of the Steve Austin, enhanced with bionics and chemicals. He is made from a MU Wonder Man.
The big guy is Tugarin, an original character. He is a mutant with super strength and durability, but his metabolism is such that he must eat massive amounts of food to maintain his abilities.

I may eventually switch the head on Pulsar to a He-Man shrink.. all those old Mattel heads (Big Jim, Pulsar, MOTU) must have been done by the same guy.. the faces are all of a type.

PS: I am also slightly disappointed by the movie Taskmaster costume... a slightly more skull-like mask and it would be fine.
If anyone is interested in an Udon style TM, here’s a very early WIP of one I’m making using Fortnite parts.

Always loved Stryfe. Yours is amazing. Kinda surprised we never got and Official one. Probably because it would have been too many unique parts.

Sweet set, that TM really makes me want to bulk order FN figures, but as it is I'm pushing my haul limits.

Well, someone's at least making Marvel figures in this scale.

Ugh...why? If Bandai wasn't going to go whole shodo on this line, they could've at least done something similar to the Kaiyodo Ult. Spiderman Vignette line.

I mean, 'm sure people who like Minimates (like I used to) may like the look and engineering but I'm kinda of said i got my hope up. Proper 1:18 scale candy toys from bandai would've been a dream.

You never know what to expect overseas...

It'd be nice to see more bootlegs or hidden finds like the Hulkbuster, Thanos's, and Hulk figures that scaled well since Hasbro skipped any MU/3.75 inch figures the last two major Avengers sequels.

Also the Sony Venom/SpiderVerse/Spider-man combo pack 'ReAction' type figures were a nice surprise as I thought Hasbro held all the cards in the Marvel action figure department.

I am not that familiar with the specifics of toy market law, but I think it works in a similar way of wht candy tots are allegedly a preferred means of format.

The trick goes that technically the consumer is paying for candy and the toy itself is "free", and it is sold that way because candy taxes are lower than toy taxes.

So in this case, Sony found a loophole in having the toy as "free" even though it is an obvious incentive and used an independent manufacturer apart from Hasbro.

I personally onlynoen the Venom figure on card.

They said be there or be square, and these dudes were unable to attend.

Also, I've been absent again. Here's some pics on Twitter to make up for it. https://twitter.com/TFramemaster/sta...572170240?s=19
