Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could help me out with ML history. I hear people refer to the "Dark Times of Marvel Legends". I have somewhat of an idea of what they are referring to, but I was wondering during what years exactly it occured, and what exactly was so bad to earn the name.
I want to know because I think the history of the line is super interesting, and I wasn't involved with the line at all during that period. |

I think it was the period from 2006 to 2011, Hasbro's first several years with the line, when their figures weren't all that good; in 2012, Hasbro restarted the line (after relegating it to only be two-packs back in 2010) with Return of Marvel Legends, and since then, the line has only been getting better and better.
The other thing I am wondering is: was it actually called "The Return of Marvel Legends" or is that a fan term?

Well, had my first X-Wave sighting in my neck of the woods - found a lone Shatterstar when doing grocery shopping at Target tonight. Almost bought it with a coupon, until partway to the register, I realized that he had been opened and one of his swords stolen. So, a bust for now. But seeing him in the first place does give me hope for more sightings soon.
They just shipped our Angela, too. Should be here on Friday. Had to drop Kid Nova for now due to some financial BS.

i FINALLY snagged OML, Sunfire, and Shatterstar...it's a start. and i REALLLY like old man Logan and Shatterstar... I'm feeling Sunfire as well...but that's mostly because poses you can make with him flying with the fire effect on his hands are cool A.F.

In tonight's Cyclops hunt, I picked up Shatterstar. He's a pretty solid figure. I didn't plan on getting anything but Cyclops out this wave, but I'll probably end up with Colossus also. The Warlock BAF just doesn't interest me. The leg band on Shat is loose, but it doesn't seem quite as bad as the Cyclops issue.
![]() I got my Sunfire in today. His feet joints are super loose, but everything else feels tight. Hopefully after we move I can get a sweet setup with Apocalypse and his horsemen in my man cave. I'm still hunting a cable to complete Apocalypse. ![]() I also snagged another Omega Red w/ tentacles |

![]() with the first wave being the Terrax BAF series. The next wave (Arnim Zola BAF) would have the Bucky Cap figure, based on a new body that would be the first of what's considered the modern style of articulation and design for Marvel Legends bodies. A good site to go to to see a catalogue of Marvel Legends figures and when they released, at least up until the end of 2015/beginning of 2016 (I think they stopped updating the site at that point) is MarvelLegends.Net - Marvel Legends, although they don't have all Marvel Legends-style Marvel lines released by ToyBiz and Hasbro on that page, they can be found elsewhere on the site. Another site with a good catalogue/database of Marvel Legends figures and other 6-inch Marvel lines would be the Marvel news site Marvel News Reviews Images and more - MarvelousNews.com, although they also seemed to have stopped updating the figure database in ~early 2015, focusing solely on Marvel news. Thanks for the info man.
So according to marvellegends.net, Legends wasn't completely dead between 2008 and 2012, but almost. Sort of living a half-life.

The line wasn't dead, but in 2008, the line drastically slowed in output. I was slightly off in my dates beforehand, but in 2008, the only figures they released in all stores were two-packs, and full waves were retailer-exclusives; by 2011, there weren't any figures being released in stores. However, for their SDCC 2011 exclusive, Hasbro released a new Thor, which was the first figure of the Return of Marvel Legends (official name, you can see it on the packaging here

When that Juggernaut wave first started Deadpool was going for $75 online. You can pick it up 8 months later for 25. I'm guessing all the scalpers had to dump their inventory before the next waves hit. I kind of expected Angela to get scalped out the Guardians wave, hence me paying a stupid amount for her at a local comic shop. You can find just about every character in that wave in my area. Luckily I completed the whole wave off that Walgreens sale, so I don't feel quite as bad about jumping to he gun on Angela...plus she's a stellar figure.

Pretty much. Only figures that were getting released at that point were Walmart and Target exclusives and TRU two packs which is why a lot of those figures are so expensive on the secondary market. Also a lot of those figures were using those horrible outdated bucks.

Pretty much every Darkhawk has this "blemish" on the left side of the toy's face at the edge of the silver mask part. Most as we can figure it's the excess plastic from the mold which leaves behind this imperfection. Some of them aren't so bad with it but I've seen some where it's a pretty obvious extra blot of plastic sticking out.

Here we go again guys. You know that once images like these start to hit the net, it usually isn't long before they start to hit shelves. Get ready...

I mean, my god, I have not seen any Sand Man figures at retail except the Jackal I bought in December. I have not seen any Space Venom figures but Electro once and I think Ashley Barton once. It's just ridiculous. |

Absolutely. X-Men waves are like a steak dinner - well worth the wait and not at all disappointing.

So soon! I know i"m not that interested in this wave, but for those who are, I REALLY hope they have a different branding code that the SPD (or whatever it is) that they used for Absorbing Man, Space Venom or Sandman. Otherwise we WILL run into the same problem with retail on this wave as Space Venom and Sandman. Given it's a movie and possibly more heavily marketed I can see this being quite possible, but if not...ugh.

I hope you're right, because I do want a couple of these figures (Classic Beetle! Moon Knight!), and I too have had trouble with the last two waves. Had to order all the Space Venom figures I wanted online (except for Ashley Barton, she was a Christmas gift from a friend), and only got a Ms. Marvel without breaking the bank due to another friend finding her at his local TRU. I'm still on the hunt for Shocker, but I'm not expecting to find him in the wild. |

Amazon orders for Angela/Yondu/Nova/VanceAstro showed up today. Vance is easily my favorite of the bunch (Yondu is excellent in a 'movie figure' way) Angela could use a few more shades of gold on her, but she is still pretty damn amazing. Since I ended up buying a DarkHawk and Starlord that I never planned on getting it looks like I'll have to go ahead and pick up a Drax since Tiger Space Pirate (that I never intended on building) is sitting here arm-less...
