So, after seeing Guardians... gonna be getting that Mantis BAF after all. My wife fell in love with her.

I came on here to post the same thing. Well, not the wife part, but the Mantis interactions with a particular character (don't want to spoil who) were awesome.

My other local Walmart just pulled out a fresh set of the Winter Soldier and Falcon exclusive assortment. I still don't want either of them but seriously how are they still getting that?!

Movie Sandman was basically a 5POA figure sold under the Marvel Legends banner. The likeness was okay, but the figure itself had awful, shiny, paints, was woefully undersized, had a weird torso rotation instead of the waist, and the legs utilized an angled Y joint that had NO calf rotation, meaning that pretty much the only pose you could get him was standing straight up. Once you start pushing the legs forward, the begin to turn outwards and sideways, not unlike the way most female figures from the early 90's did. I have figures from ToyBiz's PRE Marvel Legends waves that were better than that piece of ****...
For perspective, look at how tiny he is next to Civil War Spidey, which is a teenage body mold. You can also see that awful hip joint of his I was mentioning... ![]() I'd put Astonishing Cat Beast on that list as well, since he uses that same damn joint system in his legs. Shame because that is my favorite version of Beast. Electro peg warmed the hardest? Did the Allfather wave never come your way, because I can still find Hellcat for anyone still looking. I also think there must have been variants, because as you can see here, this Sandman is fine. Maybe you have the trilogy re-release? Hasbro Marvel Legends Sandman Series review Hellcat warmed a lot around here too, but not as much as Electro and ASM2 Spidey. Yeah, Dr. Kain....read a few posts up next time.

So after the success of Guardians this weekend and the cartoon that goes with it I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing Guardians waves yearly like Spider-Man

Damn, I forgot how nice those Toy Biz FF figures were. They've aged really well.

The articulation did indeed suck, but I think the likeness and sculpt are quite good. I just think it's better than Electro. Looks wise, Electro looks awful.
I also think there must have been variants, because as you can see here, this Sandman is fine. Maybe you have the trilogy re-release? Hasbro Marvel Legends Sandman Series review The only variants that were in that wave that I know of came in the form of Venom. There was a Venom whose spider and web pattern was completely outlined in silver paint, and a Venom that had a darker, grey tone. Also, the silver webbed Venom had no paint apps on the inside of his mouth other than teeth and tongue, while the grey version had the mouth and gums actually painted in fleshy pink. The grey version was later re-released as part of the Hasbro Spider-Man classics line without the BAF piece, but instead with the rubbery, symbiote webbing pieces that originally came out with the five inch movie line Venom. |

It's the same figure, crappy leg joints and all. It's not a part of the trilogy re-release as the figure came from the SM3 Sandman BAF. They were a Walmart Exclusive wave if memory serves me...I don't remember exactly, however I do know that I remember grabbing them the night they hit the shelf. I'm not sure what you mean by trilogy re-release btw, and if you were talking about the movies or figures themselves, because outside of that specific wave, I don't remember there ever being one. I know the movies have been re-released several times, and supposedly, there is supposed to be new Blu-Ray set coming soon featuring a new cut of Spider-Man 3 featuring a lot of the stuff that was removed from the final film (such as the symbiote mirror sequence that was featured in the original leaked trailer...) Hopefully some of the dancing and crying will be removed as well with the new additions.

I don't think the Sandman wave was a Walmart exclusive, but I think it had poor distribution because I never saw it in stores and the figures now go for crazy prices despite their quality. (New Goblin and Venom aside) I think there is a variant because if you look at the photo you posted, Sandman's legs are shiny, where as in the link I posted you can see clearly that they are matte.

the thing about the Toybiz BAF pieces was that they were attached to the inner packaging with twisty wires,so trying to steal the piece instore was next to impossible.people would have drawn attention to themselves!

It's been a while since I've opened one, but weren't the figures twisted in as well? At the very least Hasbro should tie them in with the paper string they use on transformers. The ML packaging is just too easy to open otherwise and take parts.

Speaking of fig-swapping, some scumbag did this at the Walgreen's I work at, during my shift:
![]() Unfortunately, I wasn't the one working the front register and didn't see this return happen, otherwise I would have told him I couldn't accept it. It was one of our new hires, and I explained to her the scam, so she said she'd look out for it in the future. I reminded her it's not really her fault; when somebody does a swap like this, it's hard for the average store employee to see that there's something wrong unless they're already suspicious of it. The problem with return policies, and store policies in general, though, is that despite it all, regular employees actually have little to no power in these types of customer interactions, at least from my experience. You're discouraged from "accusing" the customer of doing anything, even when it's an obvious scam. Customers recognize you have to basically bend over backwards for them and so long as they aren't being violent, they can huff and puff and eventually get what they want. It's that unfortunate dark side of customer service. Last edited by SymbiSpidey; 05-08-2017 at 03:06 AM.. |

I mostly collect movie figures too, I prefer the realism and designs a lot of the time. I would love an Apocalypse Nightcrawler, but due to Marvel being jerks, I'll have to stick with the X2 version.

Same here. I have every figure released from the MCU, plus the X-Men and F4 I showed earlier. What can I say? Kevin Feige is my idol and I love everything he and his teams have done with my childhood heroes. Plus, the figures keep getting better and better.

I wish we would get more MCU figures. I miss when movies had dedicated 6 inch toylines.

Finally! Someone else. I understand why they don't have them anymore, but I really miss them. Someone once argued with me about why I would want a movie figure, because it's a toy of an actor and I said "you do know these characters aren't real, and wait a minute...don't you collect Star Wars Black Series? Sure you love your Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford action figures." We had a good laugh about it, LOL.

Honestly it's probably better to mix movie and comic figures because sometimes what ends up happening is the movie figures clog up the shelf and the comic figures never see the light of day. I've seen it many times with transformers when the movie figures come out.

I think Cyclops and Colossus are the endangered species of the ML Wave and out in the wild...I gave up looking for them in the wild, $#@%! Got Psych and Piotr for basically 35 each on EBay. Not happy with price, but not happy running to countless stores and only seeing the other figures from the wave
